Improving Learners’ Motivation through Feedback in English Language Teaching and Learning at Polytechnic School in Benguela, Angola

Currently, it is widely perceived among the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching professionals, that motivation is a central factor for success in language learning. This work aims to examine and raise teachers’ awareness about the role of assessment and feedback in the process of language teaching and learning at polytechnic school in Benguela to develop and/or enhance their students’ motivation for learning. Hence the paper defines and discusses the key terms and, the techniques and strategies for an effective feedback provision in the context under study. It also collects data through the use of interview and questionnaire methods, and suggests the assessment and feedback types to be implemented at polytechnic school in Benguela

Portugal e a economia do conhecimento: A despesa empresarial em Investigação e Desenvolvimento

The objective of the paper is to contribute to the understanding of the knowledge economy in Portugal, presenting data and revealing specific characteristics of the Portuguese business R&D, using a framework of available tools such as international comparisons, technology intensity and sectors of the economy. This study concludes that Portuguese business R&D reveals strong elements of economic terciarization, and an important presence of foreign direct investment in knowledge intensive industries. Furthermore, the study revealed less significant determinants such as the existence of skill labour in pharmaceutical industries and the role of the state in some sectors (wealth and rail transportation).

QED and relativistic corrections in superheavy elements

In this paper we review the different relativistic and QED contributions to energies, ionic radii, transition probabilities and Landé g-factors in super-heavy elements, with the help of the MultiConfiguration Dirac-Fock method (MCDF). The effects of taking into account the Breit interaction to all orders by including it in the self-consistent field process are demonstrated. State of the art radiative corrections are included in the calculation and discussed. We also study the non-relativistic limit of MCDF calculation and find that the non-relativistic offset can be unexpectedly large.

Zonal distribution of gold and platinium group elements in the Mondunguara deposits Mozambique

The Mondunguara copper mines are situated in mountainous terrain in west-central Mozambique. The mineralization consists of chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, common pcntlandite, cobaltpentlandite, pyrite and several minor oxides and sulphides in tabular ore bodies deeping steep to the north. Gold was known to occur in small quantities but no systematic sampling and analysis for precious clements was ever done. Mineralogical and geological evidence has shown that the ores are magmatic in origin and were derived from gabbro-peridotitic magma dykes saturated in sulphides when intruded. The ore bodies show a clear zonation. Platinum group elements as well as pure gold are associated with high temperature hexagonal pyrrhotite. This pyrrhotite being of no use is generally discarded to the tailing dumps. Late hydrothermal phases are enriched in native silver, silver tellurides as well as electrum.
