As Faces de Natália

Neste trabalho pretende-se refletir sobre Natália Correia a cidadã política e socialmente interventiva, antes e após Abril de 1974; a poetisa e ficcionista, uma das mais importantes da sua geração e a lutadora pelos direitos e visibilidade das mulheres. As suas tomadas de posição de confronto à ditadura; a perseguição que a censura lhe moveu, quer enquanto autora quer como editora; a frontalidade com que apoiou a despenalização do aborto; as suas posições críticas perante a evolução política do país, após a Revolução de Abril, são aspectos da sua intervenção política que serão estudados. Acercar a sua obra do conceito de “escrita feminina”, analisar a sua particular visão do papel das mulheres, a que chamou “matrismo”, aproximando-a do ecofeminismo e da teologia feminista será igualmente tema desta dissertação. Conceptualmente, procurar-se-á encontrar na crítica feminista elementos para a análise e desenvolvimento do objecto de estudo, nomeadamente em questões como escrita, poder, corpo e sexualidade que enformaram muitas das teorias feministas e que serão desenvolvidas no decurso do trabalho.

Inês Pedrosa

Inês Pedrosa nasceu em Coimbra, em 15 de Agosto de 1962. Da sua professora primária, Virgínia Rodrigues, veio o amor pelos livros e do avô materno, Domingos Pereira, o grande incentivo literário: “contava-me a história de Portugal e declamava Camões, enquanto me passeava de barco a remos no rio Nabão. Ele é o avô Matias no meu primeiro romance A Instrução dos Amantes “ (JL, 2004: p.44). Em 1984, licencia-se em Ciências da Comunicação, na Universidade Nova de Lisboa; No Jornal de Letras, adquire pela prática o “curso de jornalismo, de literatura, de cultura, de vida” (JL, Agosto, 2002), convivendo com António Mega Ferreira, Augusto Abelaira, Eduardo Prado Coelho, Jorge Listopad e Fernando Assis Pacheco. Passaria depois pelo Independente, pelo Expresso, pela revista Ler e, finalmente, pela revista Marie Claire (entre 1993 e 1996), além de ter tido algumas experiências em rádio e televisão. A obra de Maria Teresa Horta publicada no ano transacto com o títu- lo Poemas do Brasil reflecte a maturidade de escrita a que a autora já nos tinha vindo a acostumar, desta feita resultando numa intensa carga poética com que desencadeia motes para o versejar por si oferecido. Maria Teresa tem extensa obra publicada, da qual chegaram ecos,com maior ou menor amplitude, ao país irmão. Em 1960, Espelho inicialmarca a sua estreia, em edição de autora, e a partir de então, até hoje, edita perto de 4 dezenas de títulos. Acerca da autora é referido na nota bio-bibliográfica que fecha a edição: “Figura emblemática do feminismo em Portugal, Maria Teresa Horta foi condecorada com o grau de Grande Oficial da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique pelo Presidente da República Portuguesa, Jorge Sampaio, no dia 8 de Março de 2004” (p. 119). Lembramos que Maria Teresa Horta integrou a primeira manifestação feminista emPortugal, “ contra os símbolos da opressão das mulheres que ainda persistiam no Portugal pós-Abril de 1974”. Precisamente há 35 anos atrás saiudo n.º 28 da Av. Sidónio Pais, a manifestação do MLM – Movimento de Libertação das Mulheres (primeiro núcleo feminista português de segunda vaga) até ao Parque Eduardo VII. As intervenientes no diálogo promovido na FCSH-UNL, na tarde de 12 de Janeiro de 2012, a fim de integrar a rubrica de título homónimo na revista Faces de Eva são profissionais de renome cujos percursos testemunham terem sido chamadas a exercer o poder, em cargos de representatividade, que conquistaram por mérito. O tema proposto, “Mulheres e Poder”, serve de moldura para os trechos do diálogo estabelecido.

Evaluation of uv spectrophotometry for estimation of nitrite and nitrate in nitrified urine

Water is a limited resource for which demand is growing. Contaminated water from inadequate wastewater treatment provides one of the greatest health challenges as it restricts development and increases poverty in emerging and developing countries. Therefore, the connection between wastewater and human health is linked to access to sanitation and to human waste disposal. Adequate sanitation is expected to create a barrier between disposed human excreta and sources of drinking water. Different approaches to wastewater management are required for different geographical regions and different stages of economic governance depending on the capacity to manage wastewater. Effective wastewater management can contribute to overcome the challenges of water scarcity. Separate collection of human urine at its source is one promising approach that strongly reduces the economic and load demands on wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). Treatment of source-separated urine appears as a sanitation system that is affordable, produces a valuable fertiliser, reduces pollution of water resources and promotes health. However, the technical realisation of urine separation still faces challenges. Biological hydrolysis of urea causes a strong increase of ammonia and pH. Under these conditions ammonia volatilises which can cause odour problems and significant nitrogen losses. The above problems can be avoided by urine stabilisation. Biological nitrification is a suitable process for stabilisation of urine. Urine is a highly concentrated nutrient solution which can lead to strong inhibition effects during bacterial nitrification. This can further lead to process instabilities. The major cause of instability is accumulation of the inhibitory intermediate compound nitrite, which could lead to process breakdown. Enhanced on-line nitrite monitoring can be applied in biological source-separated urine nitrification reactors as a sustainable and efficient way to improve the reactor performance, avoiding reactor failures and eventual loss of biological activity. Spectrophotometry appears as a promising candidate for the development and application of on-line nitrite monitoring. Spectroscopic methods together with chemometrics are presented in this work as a powerful tool for estimation of nitrite concentrations. Principal component regression (PCR) is applied for the estimation of nitrite concentrations using an immersible UV sensor and off-line spectra acquisition. The effect of particles and the effect of saturation, respectively, on the UV absorbance spectra are investigated. The analysis allows to conclude that (i) saturation has a substantial effect on nitrite estimation; (ii) particles appear to have less impact on nitrite estimation. In addition, improper mixing together with instabilities in the urine nitrification process appears to significantly reduce the performance of the estimation model.

Internationalization strategy of Quinta dos Termos to Canada

Quinta dos Termos, a Portuguese winery, currently faces the need to expand internationally due to difficulties in distributing its current production in Portugal. This work project will analyze the firm’s characteristics, its development in the Portuguese market and the value proposition it offers. A market analysis will also be performed prior to evaluating the internationalization need of Quinta dos Termos. The Canadian market will be assessed as an opportunity to expand internationally by evaluating factors supporting that strategy; namely the market attractiveness, the most adequate implementation plan and a competitive analysis to better understand the success expectations in the market.

Strategic design of There App’s business model: From product to multi-sided platform

The following work project illustrates the strategic issues There App, a mobile application, faces regarding the opportunity to expand from its current state as a product to a multisided platform. Initially, a market analysis is performed to identify the ideal customer groups to be integrated in the platform. Strategic design issues are then discussed on how to best match its value proposition with the identified market opportunity. Suggestions on how the company should organize its resources and operational processes to best deliver on its value proposition complete the work.

"Managing the impact of tourism in historic urban destinations. A sustainability approach: Case study of Sintra"

In this Work Project, it will be assessed how Sintra’s sustainability is affected by the consequences of the visitor flow on its urban historical center. Two research questions will support this case study: What is the main problem affecting Sintra as a tourism destination? How sustainable will Sintra be in the next 10-15 years? The main findings suggest Sintra faces an intense seasonal pressure on its historical city center and its sustainability might be seriously affected in the near future, whereby three domains of the destination deserve a serious strategy reassessment: promotion, management, and supply.

A violência doméstica no seio da relação conjugal e a sua relação com o estatuto da mulher na sociedade

Domestic violence is one of the most serious problems that contemporary society faces. Domestic violence that specifically occurs between spouses is a particular case of domestic violence that has caused a high number of victims - mostly women - putting thus an enormous challenge to states with regard to combating this problem. In this thesis we intend to proceed with the study of this phenomenon in the Angolan context. The objective of this study is trying to understand how such violence is manifested in Angola, what factors may be at it’s source and what effects can be observed on the victims, their families and in society itself. Being the Angolan people strongly linked to traditions and customs, it seemed interesting to also address the issue of domestic violence under customary law. In addition to the problem of the study itself, we proceed to exposure and analysis of how the state and civil society have intervened in this matter. At the end of this study, we conclude that despite the fact that the issue of domestic violence has received more attention in recent years from the public entities and society in general, there is still a long way to go. This path involves not only more actions of the state but also a change of mentality, which can enable the break with social stereotypes in adopting a different behavior over the issue under review and internalizing that human dignity is the basic principle of any state that proclaims democratic rights.

exploring the differences of CSR and CSE activities on consumer attributions and responses

The following directed research project analyzes how different sustainability efforts of an organization influence consumers’ responses in an industry, which faces high controversy. The study tested shows how two different high fit sustainability endeavors, namely high fit Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities and Corporate Social Entrepreneurship (CSE), affect the way consumers’ attributions are being made with regard to the company’s motive. With data gathered from surveying 156 participants, the study provides evidence that CSR as well as CSE programs stimulate values-driven attributions which positively affect consumers’ trust, corporate reputation and corporate image. Lastly, theoretical and managerial implications of the study are discussed and future research suggestions provided.
