The Portuguese law on social economy

This study is a reflection on the Portuguese Framework Law on Social Economy, highlighting, from a critical point-of-view, its contribution to the explicit institutional and legal recognition of the social economy sector. It does so by defining the concept of social economy and listing the entities engaged in this sector, by defining its guiding principles and the mechanisms for its promotion and encouragement, and also by describing the creation of a tax and competition regime which will take into account its specificities. The setting up of this foundations of the social economy was based on the constitutional principle of protection of the social and cooperative sector, which substantiates the adoption of differentiating solutions in view of the positive discrimination of this sector.

Mathematical aspects of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle within local fractional Fourier analysis

In this paper, we discuss the mathematical aspects of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle within local fractional Fourier analysis. The Schrödinger equation and Heisenberg uncertainty principles are structured within local fractional operators.

Mechanisms for reflection-based monitoring of real- time systems

Monitoring is a very important aspect to consider when developing real-time systems. However, it is also important to consider the impact of the monitoring mechanisms in the actual application. The use of Reflection can provide a clear separation between the real-time application and the implemented monitoring mechanisms, which can be introduced (reflected) into the underlying system without changing the actual application part of the code. Nevertheless, controlling the monitoring system itself is still a topic of research. The monitoring mechanisms must contain knowledge about “how to get the information out”. Therefore, this paper presents the ongoing work to define a suitable strategy for monitoring real-time systems through the use of Reflection.

Self-similarity principle: the reduced description of randomness

A new general fitting method based on the Self-Similar (SS) organization of random sequences is presented. The proposed analytical function helps to fit the response of many complex systems when their recorded data form a self-similar curve. The verified SS principle opens new possibilities for the fitting of economical, meteorological and other complex data when the mathematical model is absent but the reduced description in terms of some universal set of the fitting parameters is necessary. This fitting function is verified on economical (price of a commodity versus time) and weather (the Earth’s mean temperature surface data versus time) and for these nontrivial cases it becomes possible to receive a very good fit of initial data set. The general conditions of application of this fitting method describing the response of many complex systems and the forecast possibilities are discussed.

POSIX trace based behavioural reflection

Traditional Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) are not designed to accommodate application specific requirements. They address a general case and the application must co-exist with any limitations imposed by such design. For modern real-time applications this limits the quality of services offered to the end-user. Research in this field has shown that it is possible to develop dynamic systems where adaptation is the key for success. However, adaptation requires full knowledge of the system state. To overcome this we propose a framework to gather data, and interact with the operating system, extending the traditional POSIX trace model with a partial reflective model. Such combination still preserves the trace mechanism semantics while creating a powerful platform to develop new dynamic systems, with little impact in the system and avoiding complex changes in the kernel source code.

Relatório EPE - Relatório de estágio em Educação Pré-Escolar: O presente relatório de estágio foi realizado no âmbito da Unidade Curricular (UC) de Prática Pedagógica Supervisionada na Educação Pré-Escolar, inserida no Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Sendo que este perspetiva o percurso de formação da mestranda, importa conceptualizar os referenciais teóricos e legais que sustentaram a sua ação e a metodologia utlizada durante todo o processo – investigação-ação – que inclui os seguintes processos educativos: a observação, a planificação, a ação, a avaliação e a reflexão. A Prática Pedagógica Supervisionada realizou-se na valência de creche, no Colégio Novo da Maia e teve como principais objetivos o desenvolvimento das competências profissionais e disposições subjacentes ao Perfil Geral e Específico de Desempenho do Educador de Infância. Apoiando a sua prática através da observação, recolha de dados, análise constante da ação e reflexão crítica permanente, a formanda, regulou-se pela metodologia de investigação-ação enquanto “processo em que os participantes analisam as suas próprias práticas educativas de uma forma sistemática e aprofundada” (Coutinho et al, 2009, p.360), com vista ao desenvolvimento de competências relativas a um educador enquanto investigador da própria ação. Importa acrescentar que o período de estágio foi de 210 horas e decorreu em díade de formação. A colaboração entre todos os atores intervenientes no contexto da prática pedagógica supervisionada “visa a construção de um perfil profissional que promova o desenvolvimento das competências socioprofissionais e pessoais, de forma fundamentada, reflexiva, integrada e autonomizante, à luz do princípio da aprendizagem ao longo da vida” (Ribeiro, 2013, p.2).

Relatório de estágio em Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico

Relatório EPE - Relatório de estágio em Educação Pré-Escolar: O presente relatório foi realizado no âmbito da unidade curricular Prática Pedagógica Supervisionada, inserida no Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, da Escola Superior de Educação do Porto, durante o ano letivo 2013/2014, atribuindo qualificação profissional no contexto de pré-escolar. Este documento pretende descrever e analisar o percurso formativo desenvolvido pela mestranda ao longo da sua prática pedagógica supervisionada, numa perspetiva reflexiva sobre a construção dos saberes profissionais para a Educação. Este percurso formativo comprometeu uma atitude investigativa, bem como a mobilização de saberes científicos e legais por forma a articular as vertentes de teoria e prática, perspetivando uma construção integrada dos saberes. A prática pedagógica foi sustentada numa perspetiva construtivista, atribuindo um papel ativo à criança na construção das suas aprendizagens. Esta baseou-se num trabalho de equipa cooperativo, o qual se concretiza através do debate e da partilha de ideias, entre os vários intervenientes da ação, como meio para a transformação da realidade educativa. Ao longo da prática foi, ainda, atribuído um papel fundamental à observação do contexto, sendo esta essencial para a compreensão e conhecimento pleno da criança. Em suma, todo o percurso formativo no qual está englobado a prática pedagógica, levou a uma problematização das questões emergentes da prática, desenvolvendo uma atitude indagadora e reflexiva. Apesar da significante contribuição para a aquisição de competências pessoais e profissionais, o percurso formativo deve ser assumido como uma construção contínua, fundamentado num princípio da aprendizagem ao longo da vida.

Orthogonal persistence in Java supported by aspect- oriented programming and reflection

The persistence concern implemented as an aspect has been studied since the appearance of the Aspect-Oriented paradigm. Frequently, persistence is given as an example that can be aspectized, but until today no real world solution has applied that paradigm. Such solution should be able to enhance the programmer productivity and make the application less prone to errors. To test the viability of that concept, in a previous study we developed a prototype that implements Orthogonal Persistence as an aspect. This first version of the prototype was already fully functional with all Java types including arrays. In this work the results of our new research to overcome some limitations that we have identified on the data type abstraction and transparency in the prototype are presented. One of our goals was to avoid the Java standard idiom for genericity, based on casts, type tests and subtyping. Moreover, we also find the need to introduce some dynamic data type abilities. We consider that the Reflection is the solution to those issues. To achieve that, we have extended our prototype with a new static weaver that preprocesses the application source code in order to introduce changes to the normal behavior of the Java compiler with a new generated reflective code.

Relatório EPE - Relatório de estágio em Educação Pré-Escolar: O presente relatório de estágio de qualificação profissional tem como objetivo relatar as dificuldades e conquistas pelas quais a mestranda passou durante a prática pedagógica supervisionada no pré-escolar, no decorrer do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar e Ensino do 1ºCiclo do Ensino Básico, na Escola Superior de Educação do Porto. Este relatório descreve algumas das atividades desenvolvidas, as estratégias de formação e desenvolvimento profissional às quais a mestranda fez recurso, bem como os diversos modelos curriculares onde se apoiou para criar o seu próprio modelo. A mestranda desenvolveu ainda as relações jardim-de-infância- família bem como as relações com a equipa educativa.
