This study aims to be a contribution to a theoretical model that explains the effectiveness of the learning and decision-making processes by means of a feedback and mental models perspective. With appropriate mental models, managers should be able to improve their capacity to deal with dynamically complex contexts, in order to achieve long-term success. We present a set of hypotheses about the influence of feedback information and systems thinking facilitation on mental models and management performance. We explore, under controlled conditions, the role of mental models in terms of structure and behaviour. A test based on a simulation experiment with a system dynamics model was performed. Three out of the four hypotheses were confirmed. Causal diagramming positively influences mental model structure similarity, mental model structure similarity positively influences mental model behaviour similarity, and mental model behaviour similarity positively influences the quality of the decision.

While the management consulting industry has been largely linked to the knowledge produced within the disciplines of strategic management in the academic field, the truth is that very little literature is produced in terms of research in this area, while the researchers focused more on a set of static techniques to be applied in the development of this field of research concerns. This article seeks to bridge this gap as well, showing by example that the consultancy sector is a true field of opportunities for the study of relationships management. This presentation is thus the aim of contributing both theoretically and empirically in the area of relationships through research in the context of management consulting, trying to visualize how the relationships are manifested in a context of high involvement and personal contact, and what’s the perception that must be taken into consideration by clients and consultants in terms of the benefits of their greater or lesser degree of involvement.

Daqui, ressaltam então as seguintes questões fulcrais. / The beginning of the century has been prolific in rapid and radical transformations in the consultancy sector, as a result of the questioning of models of strategic diversification undertaken by several consultants. But, even if these changes constitute a barrier to the legitimacy of the sector, the truth is that this assumption has also contributed to the development of the sector study in the academic environment, especially over the last twenty years it has existed a set of substantial literature that has come to reflect the contribution, conceptualization and understanding of the nature of consulting work and the real value of consultants in the way that demonstrate value to their customers. It emphasizes two key questions. Management consulting is for whom? It should be the management consultant an internal auditor of its own performance? So, what I want to emphasize in this article is exactly one set of assumptions that allow describing a set of requirements that must be implicit in the characterization of the intrinsic characteristics of a consulting services manager, because the premise of this profession must understand that it is the professional adviser that should manage their activities and not the activities to manage the professional adviser.

In the evolution of strategic disciplines much of the knowledge produced has been widely diffused by the management consulting industry. But can this sector be regarded as knowledge intensive activity based on true structure of expertise knowledge? One way to understand if we can consider that sector as a source of knowledge dissemination is realizing its relationship with the market in terms of knowledge, rather than identify only as a set of static techniques to be applied as in most of times they have been doing. This article presents itself as a reflection about the real reasons for the increasing use ofmanagement consulting services, indicating simultaneously that can really be a true field of opportunities for the academic class if the study will focused in the establishment and institutionalization of micropractices (strategy-as-practice) that there are used and its implications in terms of organizational results.
