ABSTRACT: This intervention project, based on research / action, was aimed to improve speaking, reading and writing skills in a functional student with moderate cognitive deficit, promote her inclusion in the school context and develop mutual help, respect and cooperation in her classmates attitudes. It ran from February until June, 2009."B" is the fictional name of the student in this study that during our intervention, attended the 3rd year of Primary school in a public school. The choice of the starting point had to do with the urgency of answering the parents, teachers and the child needs in what concerns the development of the reading, writing and speaking skills. The theoretical framework was aimed to facilitate understanding of the intervention. To gather information about "B" and the contexts in which she was placed, it was used, as a methodological support, research documents, the sociometric test, the semi-directive interviews to the class teacher and the Special Education teacher, the naturalist observation and the questionnaires to the student’s mother. Team work was done with the class teacher, the Special Education teacher and the parents, to outline the strategies / activities most beneficial, in order to establish the skills to be developed with the student. At the end of our intervention in June 2009, she could already write her name without a model, had developed and improved vocabulary oral sentence construction. At her own pace, she became more involved in the classroom activities. Concepts and skills acquisition had to be very simple, real and concrete to be acquired and applied. However, she still had some difficulty in focusing attention without help. What concerns language development, “B” has improved significantly from the simple sentences in more perceptive language, although she still communicates with short sentences and with little expression.

The integration of Biographical Knowledge in research processes is a methodological proposal of critical empiricism that shifts the center of production of knowledge to the referred research objects. We try to show how Biographical Narratives can allow bypassing the locks and the deviations from real observation by the researcher, and focus his work on the actors in process. In the critique of the Eurocentric paradigm and its production of hegemonic scientific papers presentations and speaches, by Bonaventura Sousa Santos (Santos, 2000), proposes the "south epistemologies" as a research process and the inclusion of knowledge of actors as the research field. In the article, we will try to look at the production process of biographical narratives, using the tools of south epistemological proposal. We start with reviewing the methodologies, working on biographical objects, then we will present the preliminary studies and research that has been ongoing in several communities in southern Mozambique, in Djabula Community Centre. These results should be completed with other field works, as we open as a collaborative process discussion on African Studies community. We expect the project to be completed in the coming months, aiming towards the proposal of a "House of memories", in order to develop with the local population through articles, stories, sounds and dances that are selected and will support the chosen narratives by the community. The projects created with local players, from their problems will allow a rapprochement and dialogue between different kinds of knowledge."

The institutions that work with the preservation and diffusion of cultural heritage - be them archive, libraries, museums, art galleries or cultural centres - present a certain discourse about reality. To understand this discourse, composed by sound and silence, by fullness and emptiness, by presence and absence, by remembrance and forgetting, an operation is implied, not only with the enunciation of speech and its gaps, but also the comprehension of that which causes to speak, of who is speaking and of the point whence one speaks. Preservation and destruction, or, in another way, conservation and loss, walk hand in hand in the arteries of life. As suggested by Nietzsche (1999, p.273), it is impossible to live without loss, it is entirely impossible to live avoiding destruction to play its game and drive the dynamics of life on. However, by means of a kind of tautological argument, one often justifies preservation by the imminence of loss and memory by the threat of forgetting. Thus, one ceases to consider that the game and the rules of the game between forgetting and memory are not fed by themselves and that preservation and destruction are not opposed in a deadly duel, but instead they complement one another and are always at the service of subjects that build themselves and are built through social practices. To indicate that memories and forgettings can be sown and cultivated corroborates the importance of working towards the denaturalisation of these concepts and towards the understanding that they result from a construction process also involving other forces, such as: power. Power is a sower, a promoter of memories and forgettings.
