A relativistic four-component study was performed for the XeF(2) molecule by using the Dirac-Coulomb (DC) Hamiltonian and the relativistic adapted Gaussian basis sets (RAGBSs). The comparison of bond lengths obtained showed that relativistic effects on this property are small (increase of only 0.01 angstrom) while the contribution of electron correlation, obtained at CCSD(T) or CCSD-T levels, is more important (increase of 0.05 angstrom). Electron correlation is also dominant over relativistic effects for dissociation energies. Moreover, the correlation-relativity interaction is shown to be negligible for these properties. The electron affinity, the first ionization potential and the double ionization potential are obtained by means of the Fock-space coupled cluster (FSCC) method, resulting in DC-CCSD-T values of 0.3 eV, 12.5 eV and 32.3 eV, respectively. Vibrational frequencies and some anharmonicity constants were also calculated under the four-component formalism by means of standard perturbation equations. All these molecular properties are, in general, ill satisfactory agreement with available experimental results. Finally, a partition in terms of charge-charge flux-dipole flux (CCFDF) contributions derived by means of the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) in non-relativistic QCISD(FC)/3-21G* calculations was carried out for XeF(2) and KrF(2). This analysis showed that the most remarkable difference between both molecules lies on the charge flux contribution to the asymmetric stretching mode, which is negligible in KrF(2) but important in XeF(2). This paper deals with semi-global C(k)-solvability of complex vector fields of the form L = partial derivative/partial derivative t + x(r) (a(x) + ib(x))partial derivative/partial derivative x, r >= 1, defined on Omega(epsilon) = (-epsilon, epsilon) x S(1), epsilon > 0, where a and b are C(infinity) real-valued functions in (-epsilon, epsilon). It is shown that the interplay between the order of vanishing of the functions a and b at x = 0 influences the C(k)-solvability at Sigma = {0} x S(1). When r = 1, it is permitted that the functions a and b of L depend on the x and t variables, that is, L = partial derivative/partial derivative t + x(a(x, t) + ib(x, t))partial derivative/partial derivative x, where (x, t) is an element of Omega(epsilon).

The methanol extract from aerial parts of the Peperomia blanda (Piperaceae) yielded two C-glycosyl-flavones. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, including 1D and 2D NMR, chemical transformation and comparison with the related known compounds. The structure of the new flavonoids were established as 4`-methoxy-vitexin 7-O-beta-D-xylopyranoside (1) (7-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-8-C-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-4`-methoxy-apigenin) and vicenin-2 (2). The antioxidant activity of both compounds was investigated using the DPPH assay. Both compounds showed only modest activity, with IC50 values of 357.2 mu M for 1, and 90.5 mu M for 2. ZrO(2), gamma-Al(2)O(3) and ZrO(2)/gamma-Al(2)O(3)-supported copper catalysts have been prepared, each with three different copper loads (1, 2 and 5 wt%), by the impregnation method. The catalysts were characterized by nitrogen adsorption (BET), X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature programmed reduction (TPR) with H(2), Raman spectroscopy and electronic paramagnetic resonance (EPR). The reduction of NO by CO was studied in a fixed-bed reactor packed with these catalysts and fed with a mixture of 1% CO and 1% NO in helium. The catalyst with 5 wt% copper supported on the ZrO(2)/gamma-Al(2)O(3) matrix achieved 80% reduction of NO. Approximately the same rate of conversion was obtained on the catalyst with 2 wt% copper on ZrO(2). Characterization of these catalysts indicated that the active copper species for the reduction of NO are those in direct contact with the oxygen vacancies found in ZrO(2).
