Summarizing threads in blogs using opinion polarity

The huge amount of data available on the Web needs to be organized in order to be accessible to users in real time. This paper presents a method for summarizing subjective texts based on the strength of the opinion expressed in them. We used a corpus of blog posts and their corresponding comments (blog threads) in English, structured around five topics and we divided them according to their polarity and subsequently summarized. Despite the difficulties of real Web data, the results obtained are encouraging; an average of 79% of the summaries is considered to be comprehensible. Our work allows the user to obtain a summary of the most relevant opinions contained in the blog. This allows them to save time and be able to look for information easily, allowing more effective searches on the Web.

A new betweenness centrality measure based on an algorithm for ranking the nodes of a network

We propose and discuss a new centrality index for urban street patterns represented as networks in geographical space. This centrality measure, that we call ranking-betweenness centrality, combines the idea behind the random-walk betweenness centrality measure and the idea of ranking the nodes of a network produced by an adapted PageRank algorithm. We initially use a PageRank algorithm in which we are able to transform some information of the network that we want to analyze into numerical values. Numerical values summarizing the information are associated to each of the nodes by means of a data matrix. After running the adapted PageRank algorithm, a ranking of the nodes is obtained, according to their importance in the network. This classification is the starting point for applying an algorithm based on the random-walk betweenness centrality. A detailed example of a real urban street network is discussed in order to understand the process to evaluate the ranking-betweenness centrality proposed, performing some comparisons with other classical centrality measures.

Noticias de ataques y destrucciones en Orihuela durante el período andalusí (ss. VIII-XIII)

Tras resumirse "Los elementos esenciales de la trama urbana de Orihuela", se estudian los principales hechos históricos durante el período islámico de la ciudad de Orihuela "s. VIII-XIII) en que hay noticia de ataques militares a la ciudad y destrucciones : El ataque de los normandos a Orihuela en 245 H ./859 e.C.; Aceifa del califa ‘Abd al-Raḥmān III al-Nāṣir contra Orihuela y sus rebeldes; La "fitnat al-barbar" o guerra civil que acabó con el califato andalusí; El terremoto posterior a 440 H/1048-9 e.C. que asoló toda la vega del río Segura y finalmente la conquista cristiana de Orihuela. Como conclusiones para el estudio del urbanismo musulmán de Orihuela se demuestra que solo hubo destrucciones en el trazado urbano de importancia como resultado del mencionado terremoto que asoló y destruyó las ciudades de Murcia, Orihuela y toda la Vega Baja del río Segura.
