Graphs of relations and Hilbert series

We are discussing certain combinatorial and counting problems related to quadratic algebras. First we give examples which confirm the Anick conjecture on the minimal Hilbert series for algebras given by $n$ generators and $\frac {n(n-1)}{2}$ relations for $n \leq 7$. Then we investigate combinatorial structure of colored graph associated to relations of RIT algebra. Precise descriptions of graphs (maps) corresponding to algebras with maximal Hilbert series are given in certain cases. As a consequence it turns out, for example, that RIT algebra may have a maximal Hilbert series only if components of the graph associated to each color are pairwise 2-isomorphic.

Non-weakly supercyclic operators

Several methods based on an easy geometric argument are provided to prove that a given operator is not weakly supercyclic. The methods apply to different kinds of operators like composition operators or bilateral weighted shifts. Structure of spectra of linear operators in Banach spaces

Descriptive characterizations of the point, the continuous, and the residual spectra of operators in Banach spaces are put forward. In particular, necessary and sufficient conditions for three disjoint subsets of the complex plane to be the point spectrum, the continuous spectrum, and the residual spectrum of a linear continuous operator in a separable Banach space are obtained.

Universal Abelian topological groups

A topological group G is said to be universal in a class K of topological groups if G is an element of K and if for every group H is an element of K there is a subgroup K of G that is isomorphic to H as a topological group. A group is constructed that is universal in the class of separable metrizable topological Abelian groups.

Two-dimensional Banach spaces with polynomial numerical index zero

We study two-dimensional Banach spaces with polynomial numerical indices equal to zero.

On maximal subgroups of the multiplicative group of a division algebra

This note studies the question whether a multiplicative group of a division ring has a maximal subgroup. It is published in J. Algebra. This is a reputable journal in the subject algebra. Most of submitted papers from 5* schools in RAE was in this journal.
