In this study, we investigated the relationship between vegetation and modern-pollen rain along the elevational gradient of Mount Paggeo. We apply multivariate data analysis to assess the relationship between vegetation and modern-pollen rain and quantify the representativeness of forest zones. This study represents the first statistical analysis of pollen-vegetation relationship along an elevational gradient in Greece. Hence, this paper improves confidence in interpretation of palynological records from north-eastern Greece and may refine past climate reconstructions for a more accurate comparison of data and modelling. Numerical classification and ordination were performed on pollen data to assess differences among plant communities that beech (Fagus sylvatica) dominates or co-dominates. The results show a strong relationship between altitude, arboreal cover, human impact and variations in pollen and nonpollen palynomorph taxa percentages.

Se trata de un análisis pormenorizado de los artículos publicados por Francisco Franco en el periódico Arriba entre los años 1945 y 1960 bajo los seudónimos de Jakim Boor, Hispanicus y Macaulay. Se lleva a cabo su disección en dos grandes categorías: enemigos del Régimen y política, economía y sociedad. Para ello, se toma como ejemplo el propio artículo de Hispanicus titulado “Lo político, lo económico y lo social”. En la primera de las dos grandes categorías se agrupan todos aquellos elementos abstractos -instituciones o ideologías- que Franco consideraba perjudiciales para la España que él gobernaba o que históricamente habían sido hostiles a este país; en la segunda se recogen el comentario sobre política en términos actuales o generales, las situaciones económicas y sociales así como los numerosos fragmentos de Historia de España que el dictador gustaba de incluir en sus colaboraciones periodísticas.

Concept maps are a technique used to obtain a visual representation of a person's ideas about a concept or a set of related concepts. Specifically, in this paper, through a qualitative methodology, we analyze the concept maps proposed by 52 groups of teacher training students in order to find out the characteristics of the maps and the degree of adequacy of the contents with regard to the teaching of human nutrition in the 3rd cycle of primary education. The participants were enrolled in the Teacher Training Degree majoring in Primary Education, and the data collection was carried out through a training activity under the theme of what to teach about Science in Primary School? The results show that the maps are a useful tool for working in teacher education as they allow organizing, synthesizing, and communicating what students know. Moreover, through this work, it has been possible to see that future teachers have acceptable skills for representing the concepts/ideas in a concept map, although the level of adequacy of concepts/ideas about human nutrition and its relations is usually medium or low. These results are a wake-up call for teacher training, both initial and ongoing, because they shows the inability to change priorities as far as the selection of content is concerned.
