We use computer algebra to study polynomial identities for the trilinear operation [a, b, c] = abc - acb - bac + bca + cab - cba in the free associative algebra. It is known that [a, b, c] satisfies the alternating property in degree 3, no new identities in degree 5, a multilinear identity in degree 7 which alternates in 6 arguments, and no new identities in degree 9. We use the representation theory of the symmetric group to demonstrate the existence of new identities in degree 11. The only irreducible representations of dimension <400 with new identities correspond to partitions 2(5), 1 and 2(4), 1(3) and have dimensions 132 and 165. We construct an explicit new multilinear identity for partition 2(5), 1 and we demonstrate the existence of a new non-multilinear identity in which the underlying variables are permutations of a(2)b(2)c(2)d(2)e(2) f.

An analogue of the Newton-Wigner position operator is defined for a massive neutral scalar field in de Sitter space. The one-particle subspace of the theory, consisting of positive-energy solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation selected by the Hadamard condition, is identified with an irreducible representation of the de Sitter group. Postulates of localizability analogous to those written by Wightman for fields in Minkowski space are formulated on it, and a unique solution is shown to exist. Representations in both the principal and the complementary series are considered. A simple expression for the time evolution of the Newton-Wigner operator is presented.

We prove that the hard thermal loop contribution to static thermal amplitudes can be obtained by setting all the external four-momenta to zero before performing the Matsubara sums and loop integrals. At the one-loop order we do an iterative procedure for all the one-particle irreducible one-loop diagrams, and at the two-loop order we consider the self-energy. Our approach is sufficiently general to the extent that it includes theories with any kind of interaction vertices, such as gravity in the weak field approximation, for d space-time dimensions. This result is valid whenever the external fields are all bosonic.

The study of proportions is a common topic in many fields of study. The standard beta distribution or the inflated beta distribution may be a reasonable choice to fit a proportion in most situations. However, they do not fit well variables that do not assume values in the open interval (0, c), 0 < c < 1. For these variables, the authors introduce the truncated inflated beta distribution (TBEINF). This proposed distribution is a mixture of the beta distribution bounded in the open interval (c, 1) and the trinomial distribution. The authors present the moments of the distribution, its scoring vector, and Fisher information matrix, and discuss estimation of its parameters. The properties of the suggested estimators are studied using Monte Carlo simulation. In addition, the authors present an application of the TBEINF distribution for unemployment insurance data.

We introduce a new family of twisted generalized Weyl algebras, called multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras, for which we parametrize all simple quotients of a certain kind. Both Jordan's simple localization of the multiparameter quantized Weyl algebra and Hayashi's q-analog of the Weyl algebra are special cases of this construction. We classify all simple weight modules over any multiparameter twisted Weyl algebra. Extending results by Benkart and Ondrus, we also describe all Whittaker pairs up to isomorphism over a class of twisted generalized Weyl algebras which includes the multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras. We investigate standard and non-standard solar neutrino signals in direct dark matter detection experiments. It is well known that even without new physics, scattering of solar neutrinos on nuclei or electrons is an irreducible background for direct dark matter searches, once these experiments reach the ton scale. Here, we entertain the possibility that neutrino interactions are enhanced by new physics, such as new light force carriers (for instance a "dark photon") or neutrino magnetic moments. We consider models with only the three standard neutrino flavors, as well as scenarios with extra sterile neutrinos. We find that low-energy neutrino-electron and neutrino-nucleus scattering rates can be enhanced by several orders of magnitude, potentially enough to explain the event excesses observed in CoGeNT and CRESST. We also investigate temporal modulation in these neutrino signals, which can arise from geometric effects, oscillation physics, non-standard neutrino energy loss, and direction-dependent detection efficiencies. We emphasize that, in addition to providing potential explanations for existing signals, models featuring new physics in the neutrino sector can also be very relevant to future dark matter searches, where, on the one hand, they can be probed and constrained, but on the other hand, their signatures could also be confused with dark matter signals.
