Vote of thanks and $100 for repairs of Massachusetts Hall, 15 December 1812

In this letter signed by President John Kirkland, the Corporation voted to honor Loammi Baldwin for his supervision of the repairs to Massachusetts Hall. Repairs included new doors, doorframes, and windows. These updates were likely delayed repairs of damage sustained during the American Revolution when American soldiers were quartered in Massachusetts Hall.

She also writes following the death of their father, William Tudor, expressing profound grief and reflecting on his character and good nature.

Letters from William Tudor to his mother, Delia Jarvis Tudor,

Four letters written to his mother while she was traveling in Europe with sister Delia. He provides updates on the well being and activities of his siblings and father, including a coal mining venture undertaken by brother Frederic at Gay Head, Martha’s Vineyard. He also reports on the "miserable" state of the family’s finances and suggests marrying sister Delia to an Englishman with a fortune.

Letter from William Tudor to his father, William Tudor,

This lengthy letter, written to the elder William Tudor while he was in England, describes Tudor’s plans following his graduation from Harvard and provides updates on the activities of his siblings and the management of the household in Boston and family estate, Rockwood. He also writes about local culture, describing the plans of a Boston theater to put on a play called "Bunker Hill."

Letters from Thomas Handasyd Perkins to William Tudor,

Four letters in which Perkins relays details of his travels in Europe, local gossip about friends and associates, including John Quincy Adams and Daniel Webster, news regarding developments in Boston infrastructure, and updates on the Boston Athenaeum and the Anthology Society. Other topics include domestics politics and the movements and activities of Tudor’s family members.

Three letters providing updates on various commercial activities and describing the impact of renewed hostilities between England and France on trade. Included with one letter is a price circular.

Letters from T. Morton Jones to William Tudor,

Five letters, in which Jones recounts a club meeting and toasts and songs given, and provides updates on the business and descriptions of nail manufacture and design. He also comments on fashions of the day and includes an anectdote about a lecture he attended that was so dull, one audience member "fell fast asleep & tumbled down with a crash that startled everyone in the room." Letter dated 1814 March 24 is addressed to "Fanny" but also contains a message to Tudor from Jones.

Letters from John Murray Forbes to William Tudor,

Seven letters in which Forbes updates Tudor on relations between the provinces and provides introductions to various Argentinian diplomats sent to Brazil. He also includes a copy of a letter in Spanish sent to him from the Argentinian minister of war and foreign relations regarding peace negotiations with Brazil along with letters to the United States legation and Tudor regarding American involvement in light of the Monroe Doctrine.

Letter from James L. Swett,

One letter sent from Valparaiso, Chile, noting the achievement of peace between Peru and Colombia, and the status of the presidency in Chile. Swett also writes regarding the prospects of the Chanca silver mine and offers updates on two of the other partners in the enterprise, Nixon and McCall.

Letter from Fisher Ames to Deborah Ames Shuttleworth, 1805 August 27

One folded sheet containing a two-page letter from Fisher Ames in Dedham, Mass. to his sister "Debby" in Windsor, Vermont. Ames provides updates on the health of his children and individuals in the community, and discusses the summer heat, including mention of the likelihood of dysentery, and his attendance at "Mr. Montagu's Church," referring to the Dedham Episcopal Church presided over by Reverend William Montague.

Boston, Massachusetts Region, Digital Elevation Model with Bathymetry

This raster layer represents surface elevation and bathymetry data for the Boston Region, Massachusetts. It was created by merging portions of MassGIS Digital Elevation Model 1:5,000 (2005) data with NOAA Estuarine Bathymetric Digital Elevation Models (30 m.) (1998). DEM data was derived from the digital terrain models that were produced as part of the MassGIS 1:5,000 Black and White Digital Orthophoto imagery project. Cellsize is 5 meters by 5 meters. Each cell has a floating point value, in meters, which represents its elevation above or below sea level.
