Leather hardcover bound volume containing quarter bill tallies for the Classes of 1770-1787 arranged alphabetically and covering the bill period ending on March 9, 1770 through the period ending February 27, 1784. After each quarter's tallies, an additional section provides the totals for all students in each of the categories.

Annotated almanac, 1770

Almanac with sporadic annotations on the calendar pages and interleaved with entries in John Winthrop's hand for the months of January-April. The entries record Winthrop's social engagements and travel, with only occasional notes of the weather. There is also a folded interleaved leaf after the December page with scientific observations and a description of the Boston massacre (March 5).

[Student essay on vice], 1770 September 1

One leaf containing a handwritten essay on the proposition that "all Sinners, whatever Hopes they may have of Happiness, will hereafter be unhappy & miserable." The essay begins with an epitaph from Agamemnon: A Tragedy by Scottish poet James Thomson: "Vice always leads, however fair at first, to Wilds of Woe." The verso is dated September 1st 1770.
