The occurrence of Bursaphelenchus species in the Czech Republic is poorly known, the first report of the genus being made by Kubátová et al. (2000) who reported the association of B. eremus with the hyphomycetous microfungus, Esteya vermicola, and the bark beetle, Scolytus intricatus, collected from Quercus robur, in central Bohemia. To date, four other species have been reported from the country, namely B. fungivorus (Braasch et al., 2002), B. hofmanni (see Braasch, 2001), B. mucronatus (see Braasch, 2001) and B. vallesianus (Gaar et al., 2006). More recently, a survey for Bursaphelenchus species associated with bark- and wood-boring insects in the Czech Republic identified B. pinophilus Brzeski & Baujard, 1997 from the Moravia region. Although this represents a new country record, it was also associated with nematangia on the hind wings of a new insect vector. A total of 404 bark- and wood-boring insects were collected from declining or symptomatic trees and screened for the presence of Bursaphelenchus. Bark and longhorn beetles were captured manually after debarking parts of the trunk displaying symptoms of insect attacks. Longhorn beetle larvae were also collected together with logs cut from the trunk. Logs were kept at room temperature in the laboratory until insect emergence. Each adult insect was individually dissected in water and examined for nematodes. All nematodes resembling dauer juveniles of Bursaphelenchus were collected and identified by molecular characterisation using a region of ribosomal DNA (rDNA) containing the internal transcribed spacer regions ITS1 and ITS2. ITS-RFLP analyses using five restriction enzymes (AluI, HaeIII, HinfI, MspI, RsaI) were performed to generate the species-specific profile according to Burgermeister et al. (2009). Species identification was also confirmed by morphological data after culture of the dauers on Botrytis cinerea Pers. ex Ft., growing in 5% malt extract agar. During this survey, only species belonging to the Curculionidae, subfamily Scolytinae, revealed the presence of nematodes belonging to Bursaphelenchus. Dauers of this genus were found aggregated under the elytra in nematangia formed at the root of the hind wings (Fig. 1). The dauers were identified from 12 individuals of Pityogenes bidentatus (Herbst, 1783) (Coleoptera: Scolytinae) collected under the bark of Pinus sylvestris trunks. Each insect carried ca 10-100 dauers. The ITS-RFLP patterns of the dauers so obtained confirmed the identification of B. pinophilus associated with this insect species. Bursaphelenchus pinophilus has been found mainly in Europe and has been reported from various countries such as Poland (Brzeski & Baujard, 1997), Germany (Braasch, 2001), and Portugal (Penas et al., 2007). The recent detection of this species associated with dead P. koraiensis in Korea (Han et al., 2009) expands its geographical distribution and potential importance. It has been found associated only with Pinus species, but very little is known about the insect vector. The bark beetle, Hylurgus ligniperda, was initially suggested as the insect vector by Pe-nas et al. (2006), although the nematode associated with this insect was later reclassified as B. sexdentati by morphological and molecular analysis (Penas et al., 2007). According to the literature, P. bidentatus has been cited as a vector of Ektaphelenchus sp. (Kakuliya, 1966) in Georgia, and an unidentified nematode species in Spain (Roberston et al., 2008). Interestingly, B. pinophilus was found in the nematangia formed at the root of the hind wings of P. bidentatus. Although this phenomenon is not so common in other Bursaphelenchus species, B. rufipennis has been found recently in such a structure on the hind wings of the insect Dendroctonus rufipennis (Kanzaki et al., 2008). Although other nematode species (e.g., Ektaphelenchus spp.) are frequently found associated within the same nematangia (see Kanzaki et al., 2008), in this particular case, only dauers of B. pinophilus were identified. The association between B. pinophilus and P. bidentatus represents the first report of this biological association and the association with the Scolytinae strengthens the tight and specific links between this group of Bursaphelenchus species and members of the Scolytinae (Ryss et al., 2005).

Resumo Resultado de um investimento em meios humanos e materiais no domínio da Geo-Engenharia, ao longo de quase três décadas, a Universidade de Évora detém hoje um reconhecimento junto dos empregadores que têm acolhido os alunos desta instituição nas suas empresas. Este trabalho destina-se a partilhar a experiência que a Universidade de Évora (UE) acumulou no Ensino e Formação em Geo-Engenharia, em contexto empresarial. O Curso de Licenciatura em Engenharia Geológica da Universidade de Évora (LEG), assim como mais dois cursos da UE são pioneiros em Portugal, na medida em que preveem nos seus planos curriculares a possibilidade de os alunos puderem realizar estágios em contexto de trabalho no âmbito de Unidades Curriculares do 6º Semestre dos respetivos Cursos. No caso do LEG, apôs um período intensivo de quatro a cinco semanas de formação na Universidade, seguem-se três semanas de estágio numa empresa a eleger entre as trinta e duas que até agora aceitaram estabelecer protocolos para este fim. Este processo repete-se duas vezes por semestre. Em alternativa, os alunos que não desejem frequentar estes estágios terão uma formação clássica na Universidade. Neste artigo, apresentam-se os resultados até agora alcançados com este ensino diferenciado. A adaptação ao modelo de Bologna dos ensinos de 1º e 2º Ciclo resultou num défice de formação curricular indispensável para o pleno exercício da profissão de Engenheiro Geólogo. As competências específicas adquiridas ao fim de cada ciclo foram indicadas pela Ordem dos Engenheiros que contudo ressalva a necessidade de uma formação em Engenharia no 1º Ciclo para reconhecer as competências a atribuir a cada graduado nos mestrados de Engenharia. A experiência de formação no 2º ciclo em Engenharia Geológica, onde sensivelmente metade dos alunos é externa a Universidade de Évora, é alvo de análise neste trabalho. This work intended's to share University of Évora (UE) business context accumulated experiences in Education and Training in Geo-Engineering. The Degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Évora (LEG), as well as two courses in the UE are pioneers in Portugal, to the extent their curricula to possible students internships that can be perform in the workplace under Curricular Units of the 3th Year of the courses. In the case of the LEG, after an intensive period of four to five weeks of training at the University the students who desire it, can have a three weeks internship in a company to elect between the thirty-two that so far agreed to establish protocols with the UE, for this purpose. This process is repeated twice per semester. Alternatively, students who do not wish to attend these stages will have a classical education at the University. In this article, we present the results achieved so far with differentiated teaching. The adaptation to the Bologna model of 1st and 2nd cycles resulted in a lack of training curriculum essential to the full exercise of the Engineer Geologist profession. The specific skills acquired at the end of each cycle were indicated by the Engineers Chamber, however pointed needed training in the 1st Cycle Engineering to recognize the skills to give each graduate in Masters of Engineering. The experience of training in the 2nd cycle in Geological Engineering, where roughly half of the students came outside of the University of Évora, is also analyzed in this work. Com a realização deste trabalho pretendemos apurar as Respostas Curriculares e Educativas disponibilizadas entre 1997 e 2007 às crianças com síndrome X Frágil, no concelho de Alandroal. Foi privilegiada uma abordagem metodológica qualitativa, que recorre à análise de conteúdos de documentos presentes nos processos dos cinco alunos sinalizados e também a actas dos conselhos de docentes e de turma. Depois de analisados os resultados, constatou-se que o tipo de respostas curriculares e/ou educativas mais utilizadas para esta população, assentou numa dimensão predominantemente pedagógica, mas também se salientam as dimensões terapêutica e curricular. Para tal, registou-se o recurso a espaços físicos, à legislação, a recursos didácticos e humanos, bem como a parcerias que se estabeleceram dentro e fora do concelho do Alandroal. As estratégias mais utilizadas para cada aluno em particular mereceram também a nossa atenção; ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to find out the "curricular/educational" responses that were in-place to meet the needs of the students with Fragile X syndrome, in the Alandroal’s county, between 1997/2007. A qualitative methodological approach has been preferred, consisting on the analysis of the documents present in the student’s individual processes (which have been referred for special education) and also in some minutes of the teacher’s council meetings and class council. Results have shown that the most used response within this population was mainly connected to the pedagogic dimension, but also it was also based on the therapeutic and curricular dimensions. So, it has been used resources related to physical spaces, legislation, human and didactic, as well as to partnerships inside and outside Alandroal’s county. Specific strategies used on particular students did also have our special attention.

Esta dissertação de mestrado desenvolveu-se no âmbito do projecto “Arqueologia” das Aprendizagens no concelho de Alandroal, que teve, como objectivo primordial, a identificação e caracterização do universo de aprendizagens institucionais disponíveis e concretizadas pela comunidade do território em estudo (Freguesia de Capelins (Santo António) /Alandroal), na década 1997 – 2007. Foram inquiridas, nesta freguesia, 16 instituições e identificadas 30 aprendizagens institucionais, que tiveram maior ocorrência nos anos de 2004, 2005 e 2006. Embora seja uma freguesia essencialmente rural, a área de actividade da maioria das instituições identificadas inscreve-se no sector do comércio por grosso e a retalho e de reparação de veículos automóveis e motociclos. São, na sua maioria, instituições de natureza privada e reveladoras de organização, no que respeita à sua organização. No entanto, o relacionamento interinstitucional foi pouco dinâmico, existindo um fraco trabalho em rede. Quando existiram parcerias, estas ocorreram extra freguesia e, até mesmo, extra concelho. Seguindo uma análise quantitativa dos dados extraídos da aplicação dos questionários, com recurso a análise estatística, conclui-se que os processos de aprendizagem das instituições inquiridas da freguesia de Capelins apresentam características centradas nas próprias instituições promotoras dessas mesmas aprendizagens, assentes na formação do pessoal, com carácter formal e não formal e relacionaram-se com as áreas de administração pública e defesa, alojamento e restauração e ainda com a área do comércio por grosso e a retalho; ABSTRACT: This dissertation developed under the project "Archaeology" of Learning in the county of Alandroal, which had as its primary objective, the identification and characterization of the universe of available institutional learning and implemented by the community of the area under study (Parish of capelin (San Antonio) / Alandroal), in the decade from 1997 to 2007. Were surveyed in this parish, and 16 institutions identified 30 institutional learning, which have a higher occurrence in the years 2004, 2005 and 2006. Although it is an essentially rural, the parish area of activity of most institutions identified in the sector of wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. Are, for the most part, private institutions and revealing of organization, with regard to its organization. However, the interinstitutional relationship was weak and there is a little dynamic networking. When partnered, this extra parish occurred and even extra municipality. Following a quantitative analysis of data taken from the application of questionnaires, using statistical analysis, it is concluded that the learning processes of the institutions surveyed in the parish of Capelins characteristics focused on promoting institutions of those learnings, based on staff training, formal and non-formal nature and related to the areas of public administration and defense, hotels and restaurants and also the area of wholesale and retail trade.

Este estudo procurou conhecer a realidade do insucesso/abandono escolares no Concelho de Alandroal, no período de 1997-2007, identificando as causas das duas problemáticas e as medidas educativas de resolução, a partir de uma amostra de 41 sujeitos. Pretendemos identificar e caracterizar os episódios de insucesso e abandono escolares protagonizados por um grupo de alunos que iniciaram o seu percurso escolar em 1996/1997, no Concelho de Alandroal. No corpus teórico deste estudo, procedemos à revisão da literatura e à análise de normativos legais que abordam e regulamentam esta temática, de maneira a olhar para ela, de forma reflexiva. Ao nível do corpus empírico, utilizámos uma metodologia quantitativa/qualitativa, no sentido de obtermos o melhor conhecimento e interpretação desta realidade. Os resultados permitem concluir que existe uma relação entre as causas individuais, familiares, escolares e do meio envolvente que levaram ao insucesso e abandono escolares. Sublinhou-se a importância da implementação de medidas educativas adequadas e a sua relação com as instituições do concelho de Alandroal que levaram parte dos sujeitos a concluir o ensino obrigatório com sucesso; ABSTRACT: This study aimed to know the reality of failure / dropping out of school in the Municipality of Alandroal in the period 1997-2007, identifying the causes of both problems and educational measures of resolution, from a sample of 41 subjects. We intend to identify and characterize the episodes of school failure and dropping out staged by a group of students who started their schooling in 1996/1997, Municipality of Alandroal. In the theoretical corpus of this study, we carried out the literature review and analysis of legal norms that regulate and address this issue in order to look at her reflectively. In terms of empirical corpus, we used a method quantitative / qualitative, in order to obtain a better understanding and interpretation of reality. The results indicate that there is a relationship between the causes of individual, family, school and environment that led to failure and early school leaving. It underlined the importance of implementing appropriate educational measures and their relationship with the institutions of the county of Alandroal that led the subjects to complete the compulsory education successfully.
