Few studies relating to librarianship as a science, because it is argued that the Library lacks a body of theory, an object of study and methodology of its own. According to Murcia and Tamayo "science is a critical task not dogmatic, that puts all its cases to trial and criticism." 0 is, science tests the presumed knowledge. He adds that science related facts and interconnected with each other, in order to achieve logical connections that allow the provision of postulates and axioms from the systematization achieved through research and the scientific method to determine the objectivity that exists between facts and phenomena. For him, scientific research is the instrument by which science makes it to scientific knowledge. (1982, p. 11)

Linked to the investigation is, without being able to do without it, the information. In fact it is a factor without which the research is done by halves, or does not occur at all.Research in any field or discipline, needs the support of those who previously investigated in the work of interest. Researchers need to give more authoritative backing, more scientific, his creation of what others wrote, reported or are inquiring about a hypothesis. Thus, the information defined as "a means of communication" without being an end in itself, is an indispensable means to strengthen, guide and accelerate any research process, and in many cases up to edit to change completely. The information was therefore an unusual importance in developing nations, as the link that binds makes available to the researcher or student, all I thought of Man produces and has produced over time and world geography.

The scientific production, in the field of education, constantly refers to linkage as a special condition to develop research. However, its meaning and the way to achieve that condition are not always clear, particularly for those who are in a training stage of research in education. Meanwhile, the academic production reviewers consider linkage as a very important aspect and essential characteristic of any research project. This paper suggests that linkage involves an epistemological discussion on the research factors in each one of the research stages, such as the construction of the object of study, the definition of methodology, and the data analysis and interpretation, among the most important stages. Linkage takes shape in a written product showing the results from an orderly construction and communication of thought, according to the rules established in a particular field of knowledge.

This research recognizes the cognitive contributions to the students participating in the Third Costa Rican Biological Sciences Olympics that will define the advancement and strengthening in the construction of its conceptual dimension in the scientific literacy.  This paper is based, mainly, on qualitative approach techniques (ethnographic design:  case study); however, some data are interpreted through quantitative methodologies (descriptive design with an explanatory and exploratory touch) for the analysis of a sample of 54 high school students, finalists in the category A of the Olympics, through the use of tools such as a documentary study and a survey, in July 2009.  The information generated was analyzed using elements of inferential and descriptive statistics, figures and histograms.  It was proved that there is a better cognitive management in the topics assessed, an increase in the students’ academic performance as the tests are applied, a commitment for the academic update supported by the development of several tasks for previous preparation, curriculum contributions unprecedented based on our sample, a consent to optimize student’s knowledge about Biology, which will allow the application of scientific notions to diversify and renew the knowledge, according to what is established in the principles of scientific literacy.
