El avance en las tecnologías de la comunicación e información han rediseñado los escenarios del ser humano y el modo de funcionar el mundo. Los procesos son más sencillos, inmediatos y globales, pero ameritan de conocimiento, de destrezas y de tecnologías.Unas décadas atrás, cuando Vannaver Bush ideó el ME MEX, era difícil de conceptuar, ese acceso casi ilimitado entre dos puntos militares internacionales. Más tarde, Jorge Luis Borges soñó la Biblioteca Global, a la cual se ingresa a través de puertas hexagonales y en la cual fluye el saber universal. Todos estos acontecimientos, que son realidades hoy, serían cuentos de duendes y hasta herejías para los monjes que custodiaban las bibliotecas en la Edad Media. Cómo imaginar el acceso inmediato a colecciones antiguas y modernas de otras bibliotecas y de otros países desde un solo ingreso?.

Competition in the management of information through the use of ICT

This article presents a literature review on current issues in the field of library science, related to competence in the management and use of information, information technology and communication, information society and knowledge among others. It further seeks to highlight the importance of users to acquire these skills so they can deal effectively with decision-making, problem solving, conducting investigations and their own training. This is possible if the information and documentation systems as dynamic agents engaged to distribute scientific and technical knowledge.

Software educativo para el aprendizaje creativo del curso “Embriología comparada”

Recibido 4 de abril de 2011 • Aceptado 26 de agosto de 2011 • Corregido 13 de octubre de 2011      El estudio del que da cuenta este artículo tuvo como objetivo diagnosticar la necesidad de un software educativo sobre el proceso de segmentación en animales para promover el aprendizaje creativo de los estudiantes en el curso Embriología comparada, de la Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador en Barquisimeto, Estado Lara, Venezuela. Se apoyó en una investigación de campo de naturaleza descriptiva, los sujetos en estudio fueron 32 estudiantes cursantes de la asignatura durante el lapso académico I-2009. Se diseñó y aplicó un cuestionario en formato tipo Likert, el cual fue validado a través del juicio de expertos y su confiabilidad determinada con el Coeficiente Alfa de Cronbach. Los datos fueron recolectados y posteriormente analizados mediante la estadística descriptiva, se construyeron tablas de frecuencias y porcentajes para la presentación de los mismos. Los resultados revelan que existe, entre los estudiantes de Embriología comparada, una muy alta necesidad de contar con un software educativo que permita su aprendizaje creativo, un recurso en formato electrónico adaptado a las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación.

LA REINVENCIÓN DE LA PRODUCCIÓN EDITORIAL EN LA ERA DIGITAL; DENTRO DEL PROCESO DE GENERACIÓN Y TRANSFERENCIA DEL CONOCIMIENTO

Analiza la producción editorial a la luz de los cambios propuestos por los avances de la tecnología de los sistemas de información y comunicación. Señala impactos de internet en la producción y difusión de contenidos en ambientes y organizaciones de enseñanza e investigación. Enfatiza la responsabilidad compartida de la bibliotecología y ciencias de la información con la industria editorial, en el proceso de transferencia de información y la creación de conocimiento.

Los avances científicos y tecnológicos y su aplicación en las diferentes áreas del conocimiento han generado un creciente aumento de información; las nuevas tecnologías en la transferencia de información han creado una nueva era electrónica para accesarla de manera eficiente y rápida.

Variaciones de la utopía tecnológica contemporánea: tecno-racionalidades, tecno-culturas y tecno-mística

In this article the author argues that a technological utopia underlies present society so that it is necessary to change the way communication has been understood until now. To think of technology as something unavoidable and constitutive of subjectivity in contemporary world means to understand new ways of thinking, doing and transcending; that is, new life forms as metaphors for theory building on communication, the juvenilization of contemporary culture, and (post)modern mysticism.

The library of the Institute of Alajuela address the information and communication technologies: User training and information literacy

The Library of the Institute of Alajuela made an induction experience and training of users and ventured into the information literacy and engaged in the work of the teaching-learning as an integral part of the curriculum. The actions of the library in developing search strategies, location, selection and use of information brought inthe health service, changes to the role of the library, the librarian, the book and the information in the educational environment.By sharing this experience is intended to provide information that can motivate staff of educational institutions that wish toenter the field of information literacy as a strategy to support the development oflifelong independent learning skills and meaningful learning. Currently, the library should be a proactive part in the education of students but also teachers, administrative and family.This will result in a benefit to Costa Rica: the development of youth and their proper integration into the workplace.

COMMUNICATION, SUBJECT, CULTURE: JOYS AND SOLITUDE INAUGURAL LECTURE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR 2002 OF THE SCHOOL OF LIBRARY, DOCUMENTATION AND INFORMATION

When you are invited to offer a conference like this, can not stop having a series of questions and considerations about the very fact of speaking to an audience informed and educated about the issues that the title might suggest exposure and how without falling into the usual cliches, without repeating the views and opinions set forth, if not obvious. I propose, then, establish, as a starting point, two things: the first is a promise: I will not talk about internet, a recurrent theme in his classes and activities.
