The white cloud mountain minnow Tanichthys albonubes Lin is an endemic species to southern China and the genus has two species, Tanichthys albonubes Lin and Tanichthys micagemmae Freyhof et Herder. The distribution range of T. albonubes Lin and T. micagemmae is very narrow and only found in the mountain brooks of Baiyunshan Mountain (White Cloud Mountain), Huaxian Country and the vicinity of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province and Halong, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam respectively. The wild populations of this fish had already been on the verge of extinction when Shu-Yan Lin first discovered it in 1932 at the Baiyunshan Mountain. It was believed to be extinct in the wild because there were no reports of this fish in the wild since 1980. In September 2003, a small and isolated population of the fish was discovered in a mountain puddle in the north vicinity of Guangzhou. Additional studies are needed to determine the survival and propagation of the released fish. The protection of their natural habitat should be implemented.

Two new urostylid ciliates, Metaurostylopsis songi n. sp. and Metaurostylopsis salina n. sp. and Metaurostylopsis marina (Kahl 1932) are investigated using live observation and protargol impregnation. These species were isolated in Korea from intertidal sediments, saline ponds, and coastal waters. Metaurostylopsis songi is in vivo about 120 pm x 25 mu m, has a slenderly ellipsoidal body, colorless cortical granules in rows on ventral and dorsal body sides, about 54 macronuclear nodules, 28-47 adoral membranelles, five frontal, two or three frontoterminal and six or seven transverse cirri, and 9-12 midventral cirral pairs followed posteriorly by 1-3 single cirri. In vivo M. salina is about 60 pin x 25 mu m, has a pyriform body, colorless cortical granules irregularly arranged, about 45 macronuclear nodules, 18-23 adoral membranelles, three frontal, three to five frontoterminal and two to five transverse cirri, and four or five midventral cirral pairs followed posteriorly by five to seven single cirri. Both species have three marginal cirral rows on each body side and 3 long dorsal kineties. The Korean specimens of M. marina match the Chinese population in all main features. Metaurostylopsis songi differs from M. marina by the more slender body, the number of frontal cirri (invariably five vs. four), and the arrangement of cortical granules (in rows on dorsal and ventral cortex vs. only along dorsal kinetics and anterior body margin). Metaurostylopsis salina differs from its congeners by the distinctly smaller size, the pyriform body shape, the scattered cortical granules (vs. in rows), and number of frontal cirri. It differs from M. marina also by the number of midventral cirral pairs (four or five vs. seven to 11).

The existing Det Norske Veritas DNV Recommended Practice RP E305 for pipeline on-bottom stability is mainly based on the pipe–soil interaction model reported by Wagner et al. in 1987, and the wake model reported by Lambrakos et al. in 1987, to calculate the soil resistance and the hydrodynamic forces upon pipeline, respectively. Unlike the methods in the DNV Practice, in this paper, an improved analysis method is proposed for the on-bottom stability of a submarine pipeline, which is based on the relationships between Um/ gD 0.5 and Ws / D2 for various restraint conditions obtained by the hydrodynamic loading experiments, taking into account the coupling effects between wave, pipeline, and sandy seabed. The analysis procedure is illustrated with a detailed flow chart. A comparison is made between the submerged weights of pipeline predicted with the DNV Practice and those with the new method. The proposed analysis method may provide a helpful tool for the engineering practice of pipeline on-bottom stability design.

深刻蚀高密度熔融石英光栅是一种新型高效的衍射光学元件,具有衍射效率高、成本低、抗损伤,能在高强度激光条件下工作等优点。给出了利用感应耦合等离子体(ICP)技术制作熔融石英深刻蚀光栅的详细过程,并在一定的优化条件下制作了一系列不同周期、开口比和深度的高质量深刻蚀石英光栅。实验得到的最大刻蚀深度为4μm,并且在600l/mm的高密度条件下得到了刻蚀深度为1.9μm的高深宽比石英光栅。光栅侧壁陡直,表面平整,没有聚合物沉积。所制作的熔融石英光栅元件在高强激光环境、光谱仪、高效滤波器和波分复用系统等领域中有非常广

第三纪晚期和第四纪全球变冷对植物类群现在的分布式样有着重要的影响。植物特有现象出现的地区或中心一般都和一些适宜植物生存的避难所相联系,在这些避难所,众多植物类群得以保存、同时不断多样化形成新的类群。尽管中国区系中包括了丰富的特有类群,对特有类群丰富的地区也开展了一些初步的研究,但迄今我们对中国特有地区的数量、具体位置及其地理式样的了解仍然有限,对特有现象形成的原因更是所知甚少。为此,本研究通过选择555种中国特有植物类群(包括种、亚种和变种)为代表,对中国维管植物的特有中心及其地理式样进行了研究,并在此基础上探究了中国的冰期避难所。我们首先将这些特有类群的分布描绘在1  1纬度/经度的方格里,计算了特有现象的两个基本参数:总特有和加权特有,将那些特有参数值在前5%的单元确定为特有中心。 为了进一步了解中国的特有中心主要是植物的保存地(“植物博物馆”)还是植物新类群发生和物种形成(“植物摇篮”)的场所,或二者兼而有之,我们又根据化石证据、分子和形态系统树,以及生物地理等一系列数据,把555个特有类群分为古特有和新特有两个级别,探讨了这两个特有级别各自的分布式样。结果显示,具有特有现象的地区有20个,这些地区位于华中和华南,大致对应于这些地区的山系。特有中心主要位于青藏高原的东部(横断山和大雪山)、云贵高原、华中山脉、南岭山脉和东南山脉;海南和台湾也具有很多特有种。通过特有种所在的地区界定冰期避难所与第四纪植被重建的结果在很大程度上相一致,后者显示在这些地区在冰期有泛温带和亚热带森林出现。因此,山脉地区可能通过复杂的地形和更新世极端气候条件的局域缓冲为这些特有类群提供稳定生存的生境;这既保存了这些孑遗类群(“植物博物馆”),又使得新的类群得以不断出现(“植物摇篮”)。 中国特有中心既包含孑遗的类群(古特有)也包含近期新形成的类群(新特有)。然而,它们的分布和密度却非常不同,这可能与这些地区的地质分化和构造历史有关。尤其值得注意的是,青藏高原东部边缘是中国最重要的“进化前沿”,这可能与晚第三纪青藏高原的不断隆升有关。相反,在第三纪多数时候,华中和华南(除了海南和台湾)在地质构造上的相对稳定,使得孑遗植物谱系得以最大程度地保存。两种特有级别在全国水平上的比例(古特有为39.1%,新特有为60.9%)说明,尽管不同地区间存在一定的差异,但华中和华南既是晚第三纪和第四纪全球变冷后植物得以保存的避难所,也是植物分化和新类群形成的重要中心。 这些研究结果对特有植物、尤其对具有不同保护要求的孑遗类群和新类群的保护有着重要意义。我们可以针对富有古特有的地区以及有更多新类群产生的“植物摇篮”制定不同的保护策略和措施。

研究了武汉东湖Ⅰ站90cm和Ⅱ站150cm沉积物柱芯TOC、TN、TP和硅藻的垂向分布,探讨了在东湖的发展演化中尤其是富营养化的过程中人类活动的影响.在350aBP(清朝康熙雍正年间)和20世纪60年代,由于人口增长、农业耕作发展和湖泊富营养化使区域内TOC、TN等营养物质向湖内大量输入.东湖I站沉积物中TP在0~5cm的高值区主要与建国以来东湖周围的人类活动作用加强有关,是湖泊营养程度逐步提高的结果.随着湖泊富营养化的加剧,湖泊藻类大量繁衍,沉积物中保存的硅藻也相应大量增加.

<正> 1950年春季,作者在上海江湾发现乌鳢鳍中有许多线虫寄生,以后在1953年至1956年期间,在浙江吴兴的河流和湖泊中所产乌鳢鳍中又找到同样的线虫,此后在长江流域各处都有发现。经过研究,确定为藤本嗜子宫线虫(Philometra fujimotoi Furuyama,1932)。在我国为首次报告。

Triplophysa waisihani, a new species of nemacheiline loach, is described from the Kax River, a tributary of the Ili River drainage in Xinjiang-Uighur Autonomous Region of Northwest China. It can be assigned to the T. labiata species group characterized by having widely separated anterior and posterior nostrils and no breeding tubercles on the sides of the head. Triplophysa waisihani resembles T. labiata and T. herzensteini, but differs from both in cephalic sensory-canal pattern and the structure of the gas bladder; from T. labiata in the structure of the pelvic girdle and absence or presence of the fourth basibranchial; and from T. herzensteini in the shape of the anal fin.

Most morphological characters diagnostic of the 13 Chinese species of the cyprinid genus Sinilabeo Rendahl, 1932, are identical to those of the genus Bangana Hamilton, 1822. Consequently, these 13 species are transferred to Bangana. A revised diagnosis is provided for the now-expanded genus Bangana, and a dichotomous key and taxonomic and nomenclatural notes are included for the following valid Chinese species: B. decora, B. dero, B. devdevi, B. discognathoides, B. lemassoni, B. lippa, B. rendahli, B. tonkinensis, B. tungting, B. wui, B. xanthogenys, B. yunnanensis, and B. zhui. Literature reports, by Chinese authors, of Sinilabeo dero from the upper Irrawady River basin, in Yunnan, are based on misidentifcations of B. devdevi. Sinilabeo cirrhinoides Wu and Lin in Wu, Lin, Chen, Chen and He, 1977, and S. laticeps Wu and Lin in Wu, Lin, Chen, Chen and He, 1977, are junior subjective synonyms of B. devdevi and B. lippa, respectively. Sinilabeo yunnanensis Wu, Lin, Chen, Chen and He, 1977, is an available name, and a lectotype is designated for the species. Bangana zhui ( Zheng and Chen, 1983) is a valid species distinct from B. yunnanensis.

Lian-Xiang U, Jian-Guo Wang and Wu-Han Xiao (2002) Taxonomic studies of parasitic nyctotherans from Chinese Anura amphibians IV. Spirocytopharynxa gen. nov. and Macrocytopharynxa gen. nov. Zoological Studies 41(1): 77-84. This paper describes 2 new genera and 5 new species of nyctotherans from Anura amphibians distributed in southern China. Based on the composition of the upper and bottom flaps, the number and position of sutural lines, the length of the oral groove, and the morphology and position of the end of the cytopharynx, the adoral zone of the membranelle (AZM), and the macronucleus, two new genera were established. The 3 new species, Spirocytopharynxa sinensis, S. guangxiensis, and S. quadranus, belong to the new genus Spirocytopharynxa, Another 2 species, Macrocytopharynxa (Nyctotheroidae Nie, 1932) pyriformis n. comb. and M. lingchuanensis n. sp., belong to the new genus Macrocytopharynxa. The characteristics for diagnosis of the 2 new genera and 5 new species are described in this paper.
