Design guidelines and characteristics of beam-shaping microstructure optical fibers

Microstructure optical fibers with flat-top fundamental mode are first proposed by introducing a low-index inner core into the core of index-guiding microstructure optical fibers. The design guidelines and characteristics of beam-shaping microstructure optical fibers are demonstrated. The interrelationships of inner-core index with laser wavelength, air hole diameter and size of inner core are investigated. The influence of the relative size of inner core on the spatial profile of the fundamental mode is demonstrated. Moreover, sensitivity of the flat-top fundamental mode profile from the slight change of the optimum inner-core index value is studied. Starting from these results we deduce that it is possible to fabricate beam-shaping microstructure fibers with nowadays technique. (C) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

谱色散平滑与透镜列阵联用实现均匀照明

为满足激光惯性约束聚变中靶面激光辐照不均匀性低于5%的要求, 在目前使用透镜列阵基础上, 提出了谱色散平滑与透镜列阵联用方案, 对其进行数值计算并分析其平滑效果和应用可行性。结果表明:焦斑的不均匀性从单独使用透镜列阵时的14%降低到与谱色散平滑结合后的3%;对焦斑点功率谱的分析表明谱色散平滑通过抑制焦斑中高频的频谱强度达到平滑效果。该方案可以进一步提高焦斑平滑效果, 计算结果对实际应用有着重要的参考意义。

大口径八边形钕玻璃片支撑系统的光机集成分析

控制由机械装夹方式所引入的波前畸变以提高惯性约束聚变(ICF)输出光束的质量，是在大口径钕玻璃片主放大器结构设计中必须考虑的。提出了一种新的有限元变形结果与光学元件面形畸变之间的数据处理方式，并与传统方式进行了对比。基于新的数据处理接口，利用光机集成分析方法对大口径八边形钕玻璃片的支撑系统结构设计参数进行优化。优化的结果保证了由支撑系统引起的透过波前畸变小于十分之一波长，同时波前畸变与设计参数变动的相关性最小。

二元振幅型面板用于光束空间整形

为了提高高功率激光系统的整体效率和充分利用光能,需要对前端注入的高斯光束进行空间整形,实现驱动器终端激光的均匀化输出。采用振幅型二元面板对激光光束进行空间强度整形,利用误差扩散法进行了理论设计,数值摸拟了整形效果,同时讨论了面板加工误差以及空间滤波器的小孔大小等因素带来的影响。根据理论设计,分别加工了反高斯透射率分布和抛物线透射率分布的二元面板,并进行了整形实验,实现了各自的整形功能,并做了误差分析。实验证明二元面板能对激光光束的空间强度分布实现了精确的整形。

Natural cone formation for fast ignition of laser fusion

We propose to utilize the leading pulse of a petawatt class laser to create a conic plasma channel in the dense plasmas. This plasma channel could serve as a natural cone to guide the main pulse to the cone tip, as behaves similarly to the physical Au cone. We estimate that the leading pulse of a petawatt laser could create a natural cone with cone tip only about 100 mu m away from the edge of compressed core plasma. The natural cone formation should be compatible for a good uniform compression and efficient fast heating of the imploded fuel.

高功率激光装置光束准直系统新型远场监测技术

利用高功率激光装置空间滤波器小孔成像和取样光栅的衍射,设计出一套新型光路远场监测方案,并且在实验平台上进行了实验验证.实验结果表明:相对传统的远场监测方法,该远场监测系统通过侧面离轴光栅取样灵活利用空间,其调整平均误差为空间滤波器小孔直径0.9%,能够满足准直系统远场调整精度(<小孔直径5%)的要求.

Effect of elliptical manufacture error of an axicon on the diffraction-free beam patterns

Based on the generalized Huygens-Fresnel diffraction integral theory and the stationary-phase method, we analyze the influence on diffraction-free beam patterns of an elliptical manufacture error in an axicon. The numerical simulation is compared with the beam patterns photographed by using a CCD camera. Theoretical simulation and experimental results indicate that the intensity of the central spot decreases with increasing elliptical manufacture defect and propagation distance. Meanwhile, the bright rings around the central spot are gradually split into four or more symmetrical bright spots. The experimental results fit the theoretical simulation very well. Algorithm of far-field centre estimation based on phase-only matched filter

Estimation of the far-field centre is carried out in beam auto-alignment. In this paper, the features of the far-field of a square beam are presented. Based on these features, a phase-only matched filter is designed, and the algorithm of centre estimation is developed. Using the simulated images with different kinds of noise and the 40 test images that are taken in sequence, the accuracy of this algorithm is estimated. Results show that the error is no more than one pixel for simulated noise images with a 99% probability, and the stability is restricted within one pixel for test images. Using the improved algorithm, the consumed time is reduced to 0.049 s.
