Fourth-order spatial interference of entangled photon pairs generated in the process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion pumped by a femtosecond pulse laser has been performed for the first time. In theory, it takes into account the transverse correlation between the two photons and is used to calculate the dependence of the visibility of the interference pattern obtained in Young's double-slit experiment. In this experiment, a short focal length tens and two narrow band interference filters were adopted to eliminate the effects of the broadband pump laser and improve the visibility of the interference pattern under the condition of nearly collinear light and degenerate phase matching.

By analysing the carrier dynamics based on the rate equations and the change of the refractive index due to the efficient carrier capture, we have calculated the carrier capture process in the InAs/GaAs system detected by a simple degenerate pump-probe technique. The calculated results are found to be in good agreement with the experimental findings. Our results indicate that this simple technique, with the clear advantage of being easy to carry out, can be very useful in studying the carrier dynamics for some specific structures such as InAs ultrathin layers embedded in a GaAs matrix described here.

We demonstrate that the carrier capture and relaxation processes in InAs/GaAs quantum dots can be detected by a simple degenerate pump-probe technique. We have observed a rising process in the transient reflectivity, following the initial fast relaxation in a GaAs matrix, and assigned this rising process to the carrier capture from the GaAs barriers to the InAs layers. The assignment was modeled using the Kramers-Kronig relations. The capture time was found to depend strongly on the InAs layer thickness as well as on the excitation density and photon energy. This paper presents a low-voltage, high performance charge pump circuit suitable for implementation in standard CMOS technologies. The proposed charge pump has been used as a part of the power supply section of fully integrated passive radio frequency identification(RFID) transponder IC, which has been implemented in a 0.35-um CMOS technology with embedded EEPROM offered by Chartered Semiconductor. The proposed DC/DC charge pump can generate stable output for RFID applications with low power dissipation and high pumping efficiency. The analytical model of the voltage multiplier, the comparison with other charge pumps, the simulation results, and the chip testing results are presented.

This paper presents a novel fully integrated MOS AC to DC charge pump with low power dissipation and stable output for RFID applications. To improve the input sensitivity, we replaced Schottky-diodes in conventional charge pumps with MOS diodes with zero threshold, which has less process defects and is thus more compatible with other circuits. The charge pump in a RFID transponder is implemented in a 0.35um CMOS technology with 0.24 sq mm die size. The analytical model of the charge pump and the simulation results are presented.

Tetra-n-butyl-ammonium bromide (TBAB) clathrate hydrate slurry (CHS) is one kind of secondary refrigerants, which is promising to be applied into air-conditioning or latent-heat transportation systems as a thermal storage or cold carrying medium for energy saving. It is a solid-liquid two phase mixture which is easy to produce and has high latent heat and good fluidity. In this paper, the heat transfer characteristics of TBAB slurry were investigated in a horizontal stainless steel tube under different solid mass fractions and flow velocities with constant heat flux. One velocity region of weakened heat transfer was found. Moreover, TBAB CHS was treated as a kind of Bingham fluids, and the influences of the solid particles, flow velocity and types of flow on the forced convective heat transfer coefficients of TBAB CHS were investigated. At last, criterial correlations of Nusselt number for laminar and turbulent flows in the form of power function were summarized, and the error with experimental results was within 20%.
