Rhodamine 6G (R6G) was incubated in silver sols with different low concentrations and its surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) spectra, excited by linearly and circularly polarized light, respectively, were studied. At the single-molecule level the SERRS spectra were recorded in 10(-13) M dye colloidal solution. Spectral inhomogeneous behaviors from single-molecule were observed such as spectral polarization, spectral diffusion and intensity fluctuations of vibrational lines. Difference between SERRS spectra of R6G excited by linearly and circularly polarized light and the effect of the polarizing angle of Raman signal relative to the slit of spectrograph on the Raman spectral polarization were analyzed and measured experimentally. Circularly polarized laser and the correction of the polarizing angle of Raman signal are necessary to avoid fake results in the measuring of Raman spectral of single-molecule, which was not noticed in initial papers. 以共焦显微系统为平台,研究了不同浓度的R6G银溶胶的表面增强共振拉曼散射(SERRS)光谱,结果表明不同浓度溶液中的R6G分子表现出了不同的光谱特性。在浓度为10^-13mol·L^-1的R6G银溶胶中得到了R6G单分子的表面增强共振拉曼散射光谱,观察到了一些光谱非均匀变化现象,如谱色散、谱线的强度起伏、拉曼谱的偏振化以及分子的闪烁等,并对这些现象进行了分析,证明得到的是R6G单分子的SERRS光谱。文章还对单分子检测中的一些关键问题进行了分析与讨论,确定了单分子SERRS光谱检测的适当条件。

Surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) of Rhodamine 6G (R6G) adsorbed on colloidal silver clusters has been studied. Based on the great enhancement of the Raman signal and the quench of the fluorescence, the SERRS spectra of R6G were recorded for the samples of dye colloidal solution with different concentrations. Spectral inhomogeneity behaviours from single molecules in the dried sample films were observed with complementary evidences, such as spectral polarization, spectral diffusion, intensity fluctuation of vibrational lines and even "breathing" of the molecules. Sequential spectra observed from a liquid sample with an average of 0.3 dye molecules in the probed volume exhibited the expected Poisson distribution for actually measuring 0, 1 or 2 molecules. Difference between the SERRS spectra of R6G excited by linearly and circularly polarized light were experimentally measured.

A new dye, 2,7-bis(4-methoxystyryl)-9,9-bis(2-ethylhexyl)-9H-fluorene, has been synthesized, which is a D-pi-D symmetrical-type fluorene derivative. The two-photon absorption (TPA) of this new dye has been experimentally studied by comparable two-photon-induced fluorescence method. The parameters such as quantum yield and molar absorption coefficients of the photoinitiator that are responsible for holographic sensitivity in photopolymer material are investigated with a single beam exposure experiment. The influence of exposure intensity, the concentrations of N-phenylglycine and dye on the photobleaching process of xanthenes dyes are presented. Riboflavin is employed as the photosensitizer of a novel photopolyrner material for holographic recording, This material has a broad absorption spectrum range (More than 200nm) due to the addition of this dye. The experimental results show that our material has high diffraction efficiency and large refractive index modulation. The maximum diffraction efficiency of the photopolymer is about 56%. The digital data pages are stored in this medium and the reconstructed data page has a good fidelity, with the bit-error-ratio of about 1.8 X 10(-4). it is found that the photopolymer material is suitable for high-density volume holographic digital storage.

A novel azo dye containing isoxazole ring and beta-diketone derivative (TIAD) and its two nickel (II) complexes (Ni (II)-ETIAD and Ni (II)-HTIAD) were synthesized in order to obtain a blue-violet light absorption and better thermal stability as a promising organic storage material for next generation of high density digital versatile disc-recordable (HD-DVD-R) systems that uses a high numerical aperture of 0.85 at 405 nm wavelength. Their structures were confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis, MS, FT-IR, UV-Vis and magnetic data. Their solubility in 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propanol (TFP) and absorption properties of thin film were measured. The difference of absorption maximum from the complexes to their ligands was discussed. Thin films of four nickel(II) and copper(II) hydrazone complexes, which will hopefully be used as recording layers for the next-generation of high-density recordable disks, were prepared by using the spin-coating method. Absorption spectra of the thin films on K9 optical glass substrates in the 300-700 nm wavelength region were measured. Optical constants (complex refractive indices N) and thickness d of the thin films prepared on single-crystal silicon substrates in the 275-675 nm wavelength region were investigated on a rotating analyzer-polarizer scanning ellipsometer by fitting the measured ellipsometric angles (Psi(lambda) and Delta(lambda)) with a 3-layer model (Si/dye film/air). The dielectric functions epsilon and absorption coefficients alpha as a function of the wavelength were then calculated. Additionally, a design to achieve high reflectivity and optimum dye film thickness with an appropriate reflective layer was performed with the Film Wizard software using a multilayered model (PC substrate/reflective layer/dye film/air) at 405 nm wavelength.

The zirconia-titania-ORMOSIL waveguide thin films with considerable optical quality were prepared by the sol-gel process. The refractive index (n) and the extinction coefficient (k) were determined by a scanning ellipsometer. Wavelength tunable output of distributed feedback waveguide lasing was demonstrated in Rhodamine 6G doped ZrO2 TiO2-ORMOSIL thin films by varying the temperature, and about 5.5 nm wavelength tuning range was achieved around the emission wavelength of 599 nm. The thermal-optic coefficient (dn/dT) of the active ZrO2-TiO2-ORMOSIL films was deduced. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

TiO2/ormosil films doped with laser dyes have been prepared by the sol-gel method. Spectroscopic properties of the entrapped dyes are studied by the absorption and emission techniques. The results indicate that the absorption and fluorescence spectra of kiton red depend strongly on the properties of the ormosil matrices. The heat-treatment of the kiton red-doped film obviously leads to the increasing fluorescence intensity and the largest fluorescence intensity is obtained after heat-treatment of 150 degrees C for 2 h. However, the fluorescence intensity of the rhodamine 6G-doped film decreases with the increase of the heat-treatment temperature. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

By using an Ar+ ion laser, a tunable Rh 6G dye laser(Linewidth : 0.5 cm(-1)) and a Coherent 899-21 dye laser as light sources and using a monochromator and a phase-locking amplifier, the optical properties of Eu3+ : Y2SiO5 crystal were detected. Persistent spectral hole burning (PSHB) were also observed in (5)Do-(7)Fo transition in the crystal at the temperature of 16 K. For 15 mW dye laser (Wavelength : 579.62 nm) burning the crystal for 0.1 s a spectral hole with about 80 MHz hole width were detected and the hole can been keep for longer than 10 h.

AIM: To identify the anti-human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) activities of alpha-momorcharin ( alpha-MMC) from Momordica charantia in acutely and chronically infected lymphocytes. METHODS: The anti-HIV activities of alpha-MMC were examined by 1) the inhibition of syncytia formation induced by HIV-1 III B; 2) reduction of p24 core antigen expression level and decrease in numbers of HIV antigen positive cells in acutely and chronically infected cultures. The cytotoxic effects of alpha-MMC was tested by trypan blue dye exclusion or colorimetric MTT assay. RESULTS: alpha-MMC was found to obviously inhibit HIV-1 III B-inducing C8166 syncytia formation and markedly reduced both expression of p24 core antigen and the numbers of HIV antigen positive cells in acutely but not chronically HTV-1-infected culture. The median effective concentration (EC50) in these assays were 0.016, 0.07, and 0.32 mg.L-1, respectively. CONCLUSION: alpha-MMC is a unique component of momorcharin with anti-HIV activity, and markedly inhibited HIV-1 replication in acutely but not chronically HIV-1-infected T-lymphocytes.
