Three comb polymers(CP) with oligo-oxyethylene side chains of the type -O(CH2CH2O)(n)CH3 were prepared from methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride alternating copolymer. Homogeneous amorphous polymer electrolytes were made from CP and LiCF3SO3 or LiClO4 by solvent-casting method, and their conductivities were measured as a function of temperature and salt concentration. The conductivity which displayed non-Arrhenius behaviour was analyzed using the Vogel-Tammann-Fulcher equation. The conductivity maximum appears at lower salt concentration when CP has longer side chains. XPS was used to study the cation-polymer interaction.

The aniline encapsulated in the channels of zeolite molecular sieves was polymerized electrochemically. The doping reaction of polyaniline was studied in 12-Molybdophosphoric acid and sulfuric acid solution. The results indicate the zeolite modified ele

The transfer behavior of tetramethylammonium cation (TMA~+) across the water/ nitrobenzene interface has been investigated by neopolarography including semiintegral (m), semidifferential (e), 1.5th order differential (e′) and 2.5 th order differential (e″) methods. The predicted dependences of peak height, peak potential and peak width on concentration and scan rate, etc have been discussed theoretically. The neopolarographic theory on the transfer of ions across the interface has been confirmed ...
Improving Ship Detection with Polarimetric SAR based on Convolution between Co-polarization Channels
Resumo:
The convolution between co-polarization amplitude only data is studied to improve ship detection performance. The different statistical behaviors of ships and surrounding ocean are characterized a by two-dimensional convolution function (2D-CF) between different polarization channels. The convolution value of the ocean decreases relative to initial data, while that of ships increases. Therefore the contrast of ships to ocean is increased. The opposite variation trend of ocean and ships can distinguish the high intensity ocean clutter from ships' signatures. The new criterion can generally avoid mistaken detection by a constant false alarm rate detector. Our new ship detector is compared with other polarimetric approaches, and the results confirm the robustness of the proposed method.

Various quaternized chitosans (QCSs) were synthesized according to previous method. Their reducing power and antioxidant potency against hydroxyl radicals ((OH)-O-center dot) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) were explored by the established systems in vitro. The QCSs exhibited markedly antioxidant activity, especially TCEDMCS, whose IC50 on hydroxyl radicals was 0.235 mg/mL. They showed 65-80% scavenging effect on hydrogen peroxide at a dose of 0.5 mg/mL. Generally, the antioxidant activity decreased in the order TCEDMCS > TBEDMCS > EDMCS > PDMCS > IBDMCS > Chitosan. Furthermore, the order of their (OH)-O-center dot and H2O2 scavenging activity was consistent with the electronegativity of different substituted groups in the QCSs. The QCSs showed much stronger antioxidant activity than that of chitosan may be due to the positive charge density of the nitrogen atoms in QCSs strengthened by the substituted groups. The responses to rapid application of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and the GABA receptor characteristics of MTXO neurosecretory cells in the eyestalks of Chinese mitten-handed crab (Eriocheir sinensis) were examined by whole-cell patch clamp. Under current clamp mode, the depolarization and hyperpolarization were evoked from the three types of neurosecretory cells in response to the GABA (0.1 mmol/L) depending on the Nernst Cl- potential. Under voltage clamp mode, the inward Cl- channel currents (I-GABA) were resolved from all three types of neurosecretory cells in response to GABA (0.01similar to5 mmol/L). The GABA currents were activated within 1 200 ms and peaked within 800 ms. No obviously desensitization was observed during GABA application. The dose-response curve showed usual S-shape, with a just-discernible effect at 0.01 mmol/L and near-saturation at 0.5 mmol/L. The GABA currents had reversal potentials that followed Nernst Cl- potentials when [Cl-] was varied. The pharmacological results revealed that the GABA receptor of the crab neurosecretory cells was sensitive to the Cl- channel blockers picrotoxin and niflumic acid (0.5 mmol/L), insensitive to GABA(A) receptor antagonist bicuculline and GABA(C) receptor agonist cis-4-aminocrotonic acid (CACA 1 mmol/L) and trans-4-aminocrotonic (TACA 1 mmol/L).

Separation of small peptides on ion-exchange capillary electrochromatography (IE-CEC) with strong cation-exchange packing (SCX) as stationary phase was investigated. It was observed that the number of theoretical plates for small peptides varied from 240 000 to 460 000/m, and the relative standard deviation for t(0) and the migration time of peptides were less than 0.57% and 0.27%, respectively for ten consecutive runs. Unusually high column efficiency has been explained by the capillary electrophoretic stacking and chromatofocusing phenomena during the injection and separation of positively charged peptides. The sample buffer concentration had a marked effect on the column efficiency and peak area of the retained peptides. The influences of the buffer concentration and pH value as well as the applied voltage on the separation were investigated. It has been shown that the electrostatic interaction between the positively charged peptides and the SCX stationary phase played a very important role in IE-CEC, which provided the different separation selectivity from those in the capillary electrophoresis and reversed-phase liquid chromatography. A fast separation of ten peptides in less than 3.5 min on IE-CEC by adoption of the highly applied voltage was demonstrated. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

A novel mode of capillary electrochromatography (CEC), called dynamically modified strong cation-exchange CEC (DMSCX-CEC), is described in this paper. A column packed with a strong cation-exchange (SCX) packing material was dynamically modified with a long-chain quaternary ammonium salt, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), which was added to the mobile phase. CTAB ions were adsorbed onto the surface of the SCX packing material, and the resulting hydrophobic layer on this packing was used as the stationary phase. Using the dynamically modified SCX column, neutral solutes were separated with the CEC mode. The highest number of theoretical plates obtained was about 190 000/m, and the relative standard deviations (RSD's) for migration times and capacity factors of alkylbenzenes were less than 1.0% and 2.0% for five consecutive runs, respectively. The effects of CTAB and methanol concentrations and the pH value of the mobile phase on the electroosmotic flow and the separation mechanism were investigated. Excellent simultaneous separation of the basic and neutral solutes in DMSCX-CEC with a high-pH mobile phase was obtained, A mixture containing the acidic, basic, and neutral compounds was well separated in this mode with a low-pH mobile phase; however, peak tailing for basic compounds was observed in this mobile phase.

A monolithic silica based strong cation-exchange stationary phase was successfully prepared for capillary electrochromatography. The monolithic silica matrix from a sol-gel process was chemically modified by treatment with 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane followed by a chemical oxidation procedure to produce the desired function. The strong cation-exchange stationary phase was characterized by its substantial and stable electroosmotic flow (EOF), and it was observed that the EOF value of the prepared column remained almost unchanged at different buffer pH values and slowly decreased with increasing phosphate concentration in the mobile phase. The monolithic silica column with strong cation-exchange stationary phase has been successfully employed in the electrochromatographic separation of beta-blockers and alkaloids extracted from traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs). The column efficiencies for the tested beta-blockers varied from 210,000 to 340,000 plates/m. A peak compression effect was observed for atenolol with the mobile phase having a low phosphate concentration.
