When subjects are asked to recognize a picture, the performance is impaired by previous display of a degraded one of it. This phenomenon is called the part-set cuing effect. In the present research, the conditions on which this effect occured were investigated. In Experiment I, the results showed that, by displaying more than one steps of the degraded ones of the same picture, the recognition of this picture was more likely to be impaired. In Experiment II, if the subjects had studied the Chinese characters in a group were similar in meaning or were selected randomly, while they were dissimilar in shape. If the subjects had not studied these characters beforehand, the effect occured in the shape-similar group and the randomly - selected group. An activation-bias hypothesis was given not to explain all these results.

The quality of advertising copy is an important component of advertising service. An advertising system with only copy design and production but without evaluation is imperfect. Establishing an evaluation system of television advertising copy is the principal purpose of the present work. In terms of consumer behavior, the work focused on consumers' evaluation-in-general of T commercials. The research consisted of three subprograms. The first subprogrom was associated with the basic factors in the evaluation of television advertising copy. The second one was related to the relative importance of those basic factors. The last one was related to the way in which the consumers' synthetic evaluation of copy under multidimensions. These subprogram composed the evaluation system of television advertising copy. In the study of the first subprogram, by the use of a variaty of "multistage evaluation scale", a survey into consumers' evaluation-in-general of television ads was made, which obtained five factors, namely, credibility, attractiveness, suitability, cognition and affect impact, through factor analysis (Cum.Pct. = 56.2%, α = 0.84). The study of second subprogram acquired their relative weights by a popular method of weight in the area of decision analysis, the result was as followings: credibility-0.27, attractiveness-0.24, suitability-0.18, affect impact-0.16, cognition-0.15; and fanally, under the condition of quasi-experiment, the third studyestablished a mathematical model of the synthetic evaluation of television ad copy, which was expressed as O = ΣF * W, through a "synthetical" method of multidimensional decision making.

According to PDP theory, the author tries to use ANN method in sentence understanding. In input layer, distributed knowledge representation and integrate syntactic, semantic information (of the word in Chinese sentence) and context information are used to complete the case role assignment of six types of Chinese sentence by parallel processing. The model is a four-layer forward network, consisting of input layer, two hidden layers, and output layer(case role layer). In addition, the neural network method and the traditional symbol processing method used in natural language understanding is compared and analyzed, and a conclusion could be made: the neural network should be used as a powerful tool in this area.

For studying the phenomenon of 'happy victimizer' in young children, the present experiment interviewed 4,5, and 6 years old children with understandable stories about enjoying effects in daily life, so as to investigate the development of their moral cognition and corresponding emotional attribution, for identifying whether they have acquired structural knowledge about social-moral rules, and whether moral events can raise their emotional reactions through moral consciousness.

In this research, the Driver Safety Aptitude Testing is normalized and its state norm formulated. The sample consists of 2045 drivers whohave at least one year driving experience, and a selected from 12 cities in 8 provinces and one city. The results of examining shows that the Driver Safety Aptitude Test have a good reliability and good validity. The forms of norm are <

A study on teh encephalofluctuographic changes with age is accomplished in 120 normal adults of 20 to 9 years old by using the cross-sectional method. The results show: 1) Power peak values of S-spectra moved toward low-frequency with age from 20 to 59 years old, and then shifted backward to some extent after 60 years old; 2)There are obvious age-related changes in some spectral series; 3)The coherence between or among different brain areas and the continuous frequencies in teh brain areas enhanced, and the power distribution is disordered gradually with age; 4)Age-related changes were displayed chiefly in dominant brain area (left-anterior brain) and dominant brain axis (left-anterior / right posterior brain), in which there is the distinctest degeneration in the left-anterior brain closely related to higher brain function.

After revising Russell Motives for Smoking Questionnaire(RMSQ,1974), 317 smoking students and 270 non-smoking students in Beijing are studied. Factor analysis on RMSQ showed that there are four factors: Indulgent, Stimulant/Sedative, Addictive and Social, which cause students to smoke. All the four motives are positively correlated to Psychoticism, and excluding Stimulant /Sedative, the other motives have a negative correlation with the scores on the EPQ Lie sclae. The revised RMSQ has a high reliability and validity in China.

This research uses a multitask, multimodel approach to probe teh problem of risk perception. It consists of three parts. First, the research of risk perception in general social circumstances, the aim is to collect information about the risk perceived by popular; Secondly, the research of risk perception under working circumstances, in the form of questionaire on enterprises; Thirdly, an experimental test of risk cognitive strategies by computer simulation, that is 2x2x3 design of laboratory research based on questionaire.

In this study, the recognition of handwritten Chinese characters is studied by analyzing their static and dynamic factors. The main results are as follows: 1) The static factors of handwritten Chinese characters that have significant effects on recognition are similarity with other handwritten characters, changes of relative positions of strokes and shape changes of strokes; 2) The methods of writing handwritten Chinese characters used by different calligraphers are significantly consistent; 3)The subjects are sensitive to dynamic information contained in the handwritten Chinese characters; 4)The dynamic factors that effect recognition of handwritten Chinese characters are changes in the number of strokes and changes in the direction of strokes; 5)Although both static and dynamic factors of handwritten Chinese characters have significant effects on the recognition of handwritten Chinese characters, the effect of static factors plays a major role and the effect of dynamic factor plays of secondary role.

In these studies the following questions are examined: considering the wide fitness of Holland's vocational interest theory, Holland's Self-Directed Search to make it suitable to Chinese subjects is revised. To guarantee the revised inventory possessing Holland's RIASEC theory, the inventory's construct validity is cross-validated, and the fitness of Holland's Hexagonal Model to Chinese subjects is examined. The feasibility of building up the map of unversities' departments are also examined, according to the vocational interest.

The research investigates the acoustic-phonetic correlates of various levels of syntactic boundaries and the perception of prosody in Mandarin Chinese, more specifically, the way speakers express the syntatic relations between sentence compounents and teh perceptual representations of prosody. The relation between phonology and syntax in Chinese language is studied by comparing the perceptual representations and syntactic structures of sentences. The results may have theoretical and practical implications for research in fields of speech perception, linguistics and psycholinguistics, and for the development of speech engineering in China.
