Hydrothermal synthesis and structure of a bi-capped Keggin polyoxoanion, [(As2AsMo8V4O40)-As-III-Mo-V-O-IV](5-)

The title compound, [NH3CH2CH2CH2NH2][NH3CH2CH2CH2NH3](2)[As-2(III) As-v Mo-8 V-4(IV) O-40] (.) 5H(2)O, was hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystal data: monoclinic, C2/c, a = 45.375(9) Angstrom, b = 11.774(2) Angstrom, c = 23.438(5) Angstrom, beta = 96.62(3)degrees. X-ray crystallographic study showed that the crystal structure was constructed by bi-capped alpha -Keggin fragments [(As2AsMo8V4O40)-As-III-Mo-v-O-IV](5-) polyoxoanion. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Synthesis and crystal structure of a novel compound: [H3PMo12O40][CO(NH2)(2)](3)center dot-5H(2)O

The title compound, [H3PMo12O40][CO(NH2)(2)](3). 5H(2)O, was synthesized and characterized by IR, C-13 NMR and X-ray diffraction. This is the first example of a urea-heteropoly acid species. Crystal data: monoclinic, C2/c, a = 17.790(4) Angstrom, b = 17.158(3) Angstrom, e = 25.512(5) Angstrom, beta = 100.65(3)degrees, V = 8514(3) Angstrom (3), Z = 6, R-1 = 0.0437, wR2 = 0. 1092. In the unit cell, the urea molecules occupy cavities in the polyoxometalate lattice ordered along b-axis. Water molecules occupy the space left by polyoxometalates, and urea. Hydrothermal synthesis and crystal structure of a novel layered compound [Ni(C10H8N2)(2)V3O8.5]

A novel layered compound, [Ni(C10H8N2)(2)V3O8.5], was hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 1.551 8(3) nm, b = 1.476 1(3) nm, c = 1.048 3(2) nm, beta = 92.02(3), V = 2.399 8(8) nm(3), Z = 4, R = 0. 046 7, wR(2) = 0. 085 9.

Copolymerization of carbon dioxide and propylene oxide with Ln(CCl3COO)(3)-based catalyst: The role of rare-earth compound in the catalytic system

A highly alternative copolymer of carbon dioxide and propylene oxide was obtained using a lanthanide trichloroacetates-based ternary catalyst. The rare-earth compound in the ternary catalyst was critical to dramatically raise the yield and molecular weight of the copolymer in addition to maintaining a high alternating ratio of the copolymer. Synthesis and luminescence properties of organic-inorganic hybrid thin films doped with Eu(III)

In this study, silica-based transparent organic-inorganic hybrid films were prepared by the sol-gel method. Tetraethoxysilane and 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate were used as the inorganic and organic compounds, respectively. Lanthanide complexes [Eu(phen)(2)]Cl-3 were incorporated into the organically modified silicates (ORMOSIL) and the luminescence properties of the resultant hybrid films (ORMOSIL:[Eu(phen)(2)]Cl-3) were characterized. The relative quantum efficiency was observed higher and the lifetimes were longer in hybrid films than those in pure silica films. Furthermore, thermal stability of hybrid films incorporating various concentration of Eu(III) complex was studied. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Co-Cu-Al mixed oxides derived from hydrotalcite-like compound for NO reduction by CO

Various hydrotalcite based catalysts were prepared for catalytic removal of NO (NO reduction by CO). The general formula of hydrotalcite compounds (HTLc) was Co-Cu-Al-HTLc. Precalcination of these materials at 450 degrees C for NO reduction by CO, was necessary for catalytic activity. All catalysts except Co-A1 and Cu-Al have very good activity at lower temperature for NO reduction by CO. All samples were characterized by XRD and BET. The tentative reaction mechanism was also proposed.

Investigation on moleculare and crystal structures of metal complexes with aminopolycarboxylic acids (VII) - Syntheses and structure determination of Na-3[Hg (I) (edta) C1] center dot 6H(2)O

In this paper we describe the moleculare and crystal structures of the Na-3[Hg( II )(edta)Cl] . 6H(2)O (edta=ethylenediamine-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate). The crystal data are as follows: orthorhombic, a=8. 083 (2) Angstrom , b=13. 870(3) Angstrom , c=38. 617(5) Angstrom , v=4329. 4 (13) Angstrom(3) , Z=8, Dc= 1. 798 g . cm(-3), mu=5. 564 mm(-1), P(000)=2280, R=0. 0317 and R-w=0. 0731 for 3883 unique reflections. In complex, the complex anion [Hg ( II ) (edta)Cl](3-) has a seven-coordination structure like a mono-capped trigonal-prism (C-2v-MTP) in which the edta(4-) acts as a hexadentate ligand with four O atoms and two N atoms and a Cl- caps a quadrilateral face as a seventh ligand. It can be known that the Hg2+ which has a d(10) electronic structure can form a high-coordinate compound with a hexadentate ligand (edta) because it has a big ionic radius.

Trace analysis of Zn-doped compound semiconductor material by resonant ionization mass spectrometry

An experimental setup and the procedure for the laser resonant ionization mass spectrometry (RIMS) have been described. Both an optical spectrum and a mass spectum have been shown. The detection limit that can be reached by using this procedure has been estimated.

Preparation, charactreization, and catalytic properties of Co-M-Al (M = transition metal) mixed oxides derived from hydrotalcite-like compound

Hydrotalcite-like compounds (HTLcs) CoMAlCO3, where M stands for Cr, Mn, Ni, Cu, or Fe, were synthesized by coprecipitation. After calcination at 450 degrees C, they became mixed oxides with spinel-like structure. The mixed oxides were characterized by XRD, BET, chemical analysis and the adsorption of NO. The catalytic decomposition of NO and its reduction by CO were studied over these mixed oxides. The study showed that the catalytic activity for removal of NO, was very high. The reaction mechanism is proposed and the effects of d-electrons of the transition metals on catalytic activity are elucidated.

Preparation and luminescence properties of the ternary europium complex incorporated into an inorganic polymer matrix by a sol-gel method

Ternary europium complexes with thenoyltrifluoroacetone (TTA) and phenanthroline (phen) were incorporated into SiO2/polymer matrix by a sol-gel method. The gels exhibit the characteristic emission bands of europium ion. In addition, Eu3+ presents a longer fluorescence lifetime in gel than in the corresponding pure complex powder. Concentration effects on the luminescence intensity were investigated. The reasons that are responsible for above results are also discussed in the context.

Functionalized inorganic-organic composite material derivated by sol-gel for construction of mediated amperometric hydrogen peroxide biosensor

A novel functionalized inorganic-organic hybrid material with cation exchange property was prepared by sol-gel method. The H2O2 biosensor was fabricated by simply dipping the horseradish peroxidase-containing functionalized membrane modified electrode into Meldola's blue (MDB) solution. MDB was adsorbed and firmly immobilized within the membrane. The electrochemical behavior of MDB incorporated in the membrane was more reversible compared with that of the solution species and suitable as mediator for the horseradish peroxidase. The response time was less than 25 s. Linear range is up to 0.6 mM (COH. coeff. 0.9998) with detection Limit of 9 x 10(-7) M. High sensitivity of 75 nA mu M cm(-2) was obtained due to high MDB-loading. The biosensor exhibited a good stability. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Synthesis of a photochromic bisphenoxynaphthacenequinone compound by two-step method

A new photochromic bisphenoxynaphthacenequinone compound, 6,6'-[1-methylethylidenebis (4,1-phenyleneoxy)]bis (5,12-naphthacenequinone) (1), was synthesized by a two-step method, i.e., synthesis of 6-[4-(2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)isopropyl) phenoxy]-5, 12-naphthacenequinone (2) from 6-chloro-5, 12-naphthacenequinone (3) and bisphenol-A, and a further reaction of compound 2 in DMF/acetone mixed solvent in the presence of anhydrous potassium carbonate and potassium iodide. The crude product is obtained in a precipitate form and can easily be purified by recrystallization. The solvent composition has marked influence on the yield of the precipitated crude product in the second step.

Effect of hydrogen bonds on optical nonlinearities of inorganic crystals

This work probes the role of hydrogen bonds (such as O-H ... O and N-H ... O) in some inorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals, such as HIO3, NH4H2PO4 (ADP), K[B5O6(OH)(4)] . 2H(2)O (KB5) and K2La(NO3)(5) . 2H(2)O (KLN), from the chemical bond standpoint. Second order NLO behaviors of these four typical inorganic crystals have been quantitatively studied, results show hydrogen bonds play a very important role in NLO contributions to the total nonlinearity. Conclusions derived here concerning the effect of hydrogen bonds on optical nonlinearities of inorganic crystals have important implications with regard to the utilization of hydrogen bonds in the structural design of inorganic NLO crystals. A ferric molybdenum phosphate with a tunnel: hydrothermal synthesis and structure of (NH3CH2CH2NH3)(2)center dot(NH3CH2CH2NH2)(3)center dot Na center dot[Fe2Mo12O30(PO4)(HPO4)(4)(H2PO4)(3)]center dot 7H(2)O

A new ferric molybdenum phosphate containing a tunnel structure and crystallographically different clusters has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. A probe reaction of the oxidation of acetaldehyde with H2O2 using the tide compound as catalyst was carried out in a liquid-solid system, showing that the title compound had high catalytic activity in the reaction.
