Fluid transportation in microfluidic system could be benefit from the slip on solid-liquid interface. Slip length on many kinds of hydrophilic/hydrophobic surfaces have been measured recently. The two common-used experimental methods for boundary slip measurement include: (1) surface force measurement, such as surface force apparatus (SFA), atom force microscope (AFM), and (2) velocity measurement, like microPIV/PTV (Particle image velocimetry / Particle tracking velocimetry), total internal reflection velocimetry (TIRV). However, the measured results are rather scattered, larger measured slip lengths were reported by microPIV/PTV experiments. In this paper, we will investigate the deviations of the measured slip length on smooth hydrophilic surface. After measuring detailed velocity profiles very close to hydrophilic glass wall, we give a discussion on the effects influencing the slip measurements.

An FFT-based two-step phase-shifting (TPS) algorithm is described in detail and implemented by use of experimental interferograms. This algorithm has been proposed to solve the TPS problem with random phase shift except pi. By comparison with the visibility-function-based TPS algorithm, it proves that the FFT-based algorithm has obvious advantages in phase extracting. Meanwhile, we present a pi-phase-shift supplement to the TPS algorithm, which combines the two interferograms and demodulates the phase map by locating the extrema of the combined fringes after removing the respective backgrounds. So combining this method and FFT-based one, one could really implement the TPS with random phase shift. Whereafter, we systematically compare the TPS with single-interferogram analysis algorithm and conventional three-step phase-shifting one. The results demonstrate that the FFT-based TPS algorithm has a satisfactory accuracy. At last, based on the polarizing interferometry, a schematic setup of two-channel TPS interferometer with random phase shift is suggested to implement the simultaneous collection of interferograms. This paper studies the security of the block ciphers ARIA and Camellia against impossible differential cryptanalysis. Our work improves the best impossible differential cryptanalysis of ARIA and Camellia known so far. The designers of ARIA expected no impossible differentials exist for 4-round ARIA. However, we found some nontrivial 4-round impossible differentials, which may lead to a possible attack on 6-round ARIA. Moreover, we found some nontrivial 8-round impossible differentials for Camellia, whereas only 7-round impossible differentials were previously known. By using the 8-round impossible differentials, we presented an attack on 12-round Camellia without FL/FL 1 layers.

A new algorithm for deriving canonical numbering of atoms in a molecular graph has been developed. Some graph invariants, such as node properties, degree (connectivity), topological path, the smallest node ring index, etc., are encoded together to partit

Year-round induction of sporogenesis of Laminaria saccharina was performed by mechanically blocking the transport of the putative sporulation inhibitors produced by the blade meristem and culturing the plants in constant short days. Sporogenesis was successfully induced by removal of the blade meristem, either by cultivating distal blade fragments or by performing a transverse cut in the frond. The earliest sorus formation after artificial induction was 10 days. The age of the sporophytes used for induction was 6-11 months or 2 years in tank-grown or field-collected sporophytes, respectively. Zoospores were successfully released in all cases. Thus, by year-round artificial induction of sporogenesis, (1) sporeling production of L. saccharina and thereafter sporophyte cultivation could be achieved without seasonal limitation, and (2) the life cycle of L. saccharina (from spore to spore) could be completed within 8 months under controlled conditions.
