As questões de género e o uso de tecnologias da informação e comunicação em contexto educacional – uma revisão de literatura

Neste artigo apresenta-se uma revisão de literatura sobre as questões de género e o uso de tecnologias da informação e comunicação (TIC). Esta revisão, que não se pretende exaustiva, apresenta um conjunto de estudos nacionais e internacionais com vista a dar um contributo para identificação e caracterização das diferenças de género no contexto de uso de tecnologia. A presente revisão de literatura indica que é vasta a investigação nesta área e, apesar de no panorama nacional as relações de género no que respeita o uso das tecnologias não serem alvo de muitas pesquisas, denota-se que muito recentemente começaram a surgir algumas publicações dedicadas a esta questão. De um modo geral, os diversos estudos apontam no sentido da existência de uma fraca participação feminina no setor específico das TIC, apesar de se começar a verificar uma tendência na diminuição do fosso digital de género e dos estereótipos no uso de tecnologia.

Conshumano: Os novos media na sociedade de consumo

Uneasy by the consumerism of the society of our days, this thesis embodies a reflection and a research about the influence of the new media over a behavior standardization, which results in the creation of the artistic project “Conshumano”. Looking up for a description and a critical integration of various converging concepts of this social paradigm, which lead to a growing tendency of the consumption: Capitalism, Industrialization, New Technologies, Cultural Industry, Mass Media or Globalization. Focusing the research on the concepts presented, developed a theoretical framework that relates different authors and artistic examples. Embracing art as an active agent of social life, concepts such as Video-Art or Interactive Art gain evident shape, as they establish essentially the basis for the interactive multimedia instalation accomplished by this project. The possibility of young artists resort to new ways to produce their works is an emerging factor today, and in this project the new technologies were used creatively as an artistic medium, with a view to developing an artistic, active and interventionist citizenship. Finally, lying properly contextualized in this paper, was presented the exhibition of interactive multimedia installation “Conshumano: os novos media na sociedade de consumo”, at National Museum Grão Vasco, in Viseu. Art is seen as a creative and alternative critique of the consumerism and as a way to interact socially, which aims to create a self-analysis for the society about the act of purchasing.

Meios de divulgação promocionais de cinema: estudo sobre o impacto nos consumidores

This article presents part of the results obtained under a project that sought out to know and understand the determining factors in the ways of attendance at movie theaters, with the main goal to analyze each of the cinematic means of disclosure and their respective communicative role. The study was carried out through a theoretical and conceptual analysis using a quantitative approach. The main tool for data collection was a questionnaire that included the participation of 380 subjects. The findings show that the main determinant means of disclosure in choosing films as key influencers of visits to Portuguese cinemas were the Internet and the word-of-mouth phenomenon.

Género e TIC: questões de género na utilização das TIC por crianças e jovens em Portugal

Este Simpósio é dedicado ao tema “Género e TIC (Tecnologias da Informação e da Comunicação) ”, visando analisar e discutir as questões de género, no âmbito da utilização das TIC. Para desencadear a discussão, as/os participantes no Simpósio enquadrarão teoricamente o tema e apresentarão uma síntese dos resultados de diferentes estudos académicos, contribuindo, assim, para o retrato da relação entre género e utilização das TIC por crianças e jovens em Portugal. O enquadramento teórico apresentará as diferentes abordagens internacionais ao tema. Será referido o capítulo dedicado às TIC, do Guião Educação, Género e Cidadania para o 3º ciclo, e o programa de formação contínua de docentes que tem vindo a usar o referido capítulo na formação contínua de docentes, resultando na aplicação do mesmo pelos/as formandos/as em agrupamentos de escolas de todo o país. Serão também apresentados os resultados de uma investigação sobre a dimensão de género na utilização das TIC por jovens no ensino superior em Portugal. A análise das questões de género na utilização da internet pelas crianças será apresentada por pessoas da coordenação portuguesa de dois projetos europeus.

Preferences in the use of communication technology: the influence of the gender dimension among higher education students

This paper presents some of the findings of a nationwide study, which was designed for understanding aspects related to the use of Communication Technology (CT) among higher education students in Portugal. This descriptive and exploratory study essentially focused on gender issues, particularly on how they influence the students’ perception regarding the use of CT. The data collection method selected was online survey. The findings reveal, among other results, students’ preferences regarding CT use and gender differences in that context.

Researching the Use of Communication Technologies in Higher Education Institutions in Portugal

This paper describes a research which main purpose was identifying and characterizing the use of Communication Technologies by Portuguese Public Higher Education Institutions to support learning activities. An analysis model was created and used to develop a nationwide online survey used to collect data from students, teachers and institutional managers. The results show that institutional policies and resources are in place and being used to support learning; learning management systems and interpersonal communication technologies are intensely used and widely adopted; and that there are gender differences as far as the students' use of Communication Technologies is concerned. The results of this project provide a useful insight on the use of Communication Technologies by Portuguese Public Higher Education Institutions and give valuable information for ongoing decision making processes regarding the institutional adoption and development of learning models that take advantage of these technologies.
