Marco Aurelio : filosofía y discurso íntimo

La obra de Marco Aurelio es la manifestación final de la ética estoica. El Emperador de Roma vive continuamente en medio de muchas guerras por la defensa de su territorio. Pueblos germánicos atacaban sus fronteras en el noreste cuando puso en orden para sus amigos muchos pensamientos o notas recopiladas durante años. Estas notas tienen forma de un cuaderno de notas o de un diario íntimo y contenido filosófico. Las teorías contemporáneas de la autobiografía han estudiado estas formas y definen sus rasgos con precisión, pero existen múltiples diferencias entre la personalidad de los hombres antiguos y modernos. Esto vuelve espinosa la interpretación de los pensamientos aurelianos si usamos solamente los conceptos actuales de la literatura íntima. Nuestro artículo muestra estas dificultades.

Marcus Aurelius’s work is the last manifestation of stoic ethics. The Emperor of Rome lives in the middle of continuous wars for the defense of his territory. Germanic peoples are attacking the north-east limits when he puts in order for his friends many thougths or notes recopilated for years. These notes have the form of a notebook or diary and philosophic contents. The contemporary theories of autobiography have studied these forms and define their traits with precision, but there are multiple differences between the ancient and present personality of human beings. This reason makes it arduous to explain Aurelian thoughts if we use only the currents judgments of literature of intimacy. Our article shows these difficulties.
