Sähköinen jakokirja

Varhaisjakelu ja lehdenjakajan työ on muuttumassa yhä monipuolisemmaksi ja vaikeammin hallittavaksi. Uusien haasteiden myötä vanha paperinen jakokirja kaipaa päivitystä. Sähköisen jakokirjan sekä uudenlaisen jakelun osapuolten välisen viestinvälitysjärjestelmän käyttöönotto helpottaisi, ja nopeuttaisi jakajan jokaöistä työtä. Sähköisen jakokirjan kehityksen jarruna on ollut kannettavien päätelaitteiden kehittymättömyys sekä niiden käytön ongelmat. Sanomalehdenjakajan fyysisesti raskas työ ja kuluttava työympäristö asettavat tiukat vaatimukset käytettävälle sähköisen jakokirjan kannettavalle päätelaitteelle. Tässä diplomityössä toteutetaan automaattisesti päivittyvä sekä helposti muokattavissa oleva sähköinen jakokirja. Sen yhteyteen toteutetaan jakajalle ja jakelupäivystäjälle työympäristöt sekä viestinvälitysjärjestelmä. Lisäksi tutkitaan varhaisjakelua ja sen järjestelmiä, lehdenjakajan työtä sekä erilaisia olemassa olevia jakokirjoja. Diplomityön lopussa kartoitetaan kehitetyn sähköisen jakokirjan jatkokehitystä sekä pohditaan vaihtoehtoja tulevaisuuden sähköiseksi jakokirjaksi. Työn tuloksena on kehitetty jakelujärjestelmä, jota sanomalehdenjakaja ja jakelupäivystäjä käyttävät matkapuhelimella, ja tietokoneella Internetin kautta. Tämän jakelujärjestelmän osana toimivan sähköisen jakokirjan testauksen tulokset olivat jatkokehitystä, ja käyttöönottoa ajatellen erittäin positiiviset.

Students' collective knowledge construction in the virtual learning environment ""ToLigado - your school interactive newspaper""

Introduction. The ToLigado Project - Your School Interactive Newspaper is an interactive virtual learning environment conceived, developed, implemented and supported by researchers at the School of the Future Research Laboratory of the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Method. This virtual learning environment aims to motivate trans-disciplinary research among public school students and teachers in 2,931 schools equipped with Internet-access computer rooms. Within this virtual community, students produce collective multimedia research documents that are immediately published in the portal. The project also aims to increase students' autonomy for research, collaborative work and Web authorship. Main sections of the portal are presented and described. Results. Partial results of the first two years' implementation are presented and indicate a strong motivation among students to produce knowledge despite the fragile hardware and software infrastructure at the time. Discussion. In this new environment, students should be seen as 'knowledge architects' and teachers as facilitators, or 'curiosity managers'. The ToLigado portal may constitute a repository for future studies regarding student attitudes in virtual learning environments, students' behaviour as 'authors', Web authorship involving collective knowledge production, teachers' behaviour as facilitators, and virtual learning environments as digital repositories of students' knowledge construction and social capital in virtual learning communities.

The Relative Frequency of the Synthetic End Composite Futures in the Newspaper Quest-France and some Observations on Distribution

Figures on the relative frequency of synthetic and composite future forms in Ouest-France are presented and compared with those of earlier studies on the passé simple and passé composé. The synthetic future is found to be dominant. Possible formal explanations for distribution are found to be inconclusive. Distribution across different text-types is found to be more promising, since contrastive functions of the two forms can be identified in texts where they co-occur. The composite future typically reports new proposals or plans as current news, while the synthetic future outlines details that will be realised at the time of implementation. Both functions are important in dailies, but current news is more often expressed in the present tense at the expense of the composite future.
