Thirty monoclonal antibodies from eight laboratories exchanged after the First Workshop on Monoclonal Antibodies to Human Melanoma held in March 1981 at NIH were tested in an antibody-binding radioimmunoassay using a panel of 28 different cell lines. This panel included 12 melanomas, three neuroblastomas, four gliomas, one retinoblastoma, four colon carcinomas, one lung carcinoma, one cervical carcinoma, one endometrial carcinoma, and one breast carcinoma. The reactivity pattern of the 30 monoclonal antibodies tested showed that none of them were directed against antigens strictly restricted to melanoma, but that several of them recognize antigenic structures preferentially expressed on melanoma cells. A large number of antibodies were found to crossreact with gliomas and neuroblastomas. Thus, they seem to recognize neuroectoderm associated differentiation antigens. Four monoclonal antibodies produced in our laboratory were further studied for the immunohistological localization of melanoma associated antigens on fresh tumor material. In a three-layer biotin-avidin-peroxidase system each antibody showed a different staining pattern with the tumor cells, suggesting that they were directed against different antigens.

An approach using straight lines as features to solve the photogrammetric space resection problem is presented. An explicit mathematical model relating straight lines, in both object and image space, is used. Based on this model, Kalman Filtering is applied to solve the space resection problem. The recursive property of the filter is used in an iterative process which uses the sequentially estimated camera location parameters to feedback to the feature extraction process in the image. This feedback process leads to a gradual reduction of the image space for feature searching, and consequently eliminates the bottleneck due to the high computational cost of the image segmentation phase. It also enables feature extraction and the determination of feature correspondence in image and object space in an automatic way, i.e., without operator interference. Results obtained from simulated and real data show that highly accurate space resection parameters are obtained as well as a progressive processing time reduction. The obtained accuracy, the automatic correspondence process, and the short related processing time show that the proposed approach can be used in many real-time machine vision systems, making possible the implementation of applications not feasible until now.

In this work a method is proposed to allow the indirect orientation of images using photogrammetric control extracted through integration of data derived from Photogrammetry and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system. The photogrammetric control is obtained by using an inverse photogrammetric model, which allows the projection of image space straight lines onto the object space. This mathematical model is developed based on the intersection between the collinearity-based straight line and a DSM of region, derived from LiDAR data. The mathematical model used in the indirect orientation of the image is known as the model of equivalent t planes. This mathematical model is based on the equivalence between the vector normal to the projection plane in the image space and to the vector normal to the rotated projection plane in the object space. The goal of this work is to verify the quality, efficiency and potential of photogrammetric control straight lines obtained with proposed method applied to the indirect orientation of images. The quality of generated photogrammetric control was statistically available and the results showed that proposed method is promising and it has potential for the indirect orientation of images.

This paper presents a method for indirect orientation of aerial images using ground control lines extracted from airborne Laser system (ALS) data. This data integration strategy has shown good potential in the automation of photogrammetric tasks, including the indirect orientation of images. The most important characteristic of the proposed approach is that the exterior orientation parameters (EOP) of a single or multiple images can be automatically computed with a space resection procedure from data derived from different sensors. The suggested method works as follows. Firstly, the straight lines are automatically extracted in the digital aerial image (s) and in the intensity image derived from an ALS data-set (S). Then, correspondence between s and S is automatically determined. A line-based coplanarity model that establishes the relationship between straight lines in the object and in the image space is used to estimate the EOP with the iterated extended Kalman filtering (IEKF). Implementation and testing of the method have employed data from different sensors. Experiments were conducted to assess the proposed method and the results obtained showed that the estimation of the EOP is function of ALS positional accuracy.

An indirect method for the georeferencing of 3D point clouds obtained with terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) data using control lines is presented. This technique could be used for rapid data acquisition where resources do not permit the use of expensive navigation sensors or the placement of pre-signalised targets. The most important characteristic is the development of a mathematical model based on the principle that the direction vector of the TLS straight line is coplanar with the plane defined by the origin of the TLS system, one endpoint of a control line and the direction vector of the control line in the ground reference coordinate system. The transformation parameters are estimated by minimising the distance between the control lines and their corresponding TLS straight lines. The proposed method was tested using both simulated and real data, and the advantages of this new approach are compared with conventional surveying methods. © 2013 This article is a U.S. Government work and is in the public domain in the USA.

The major contribution of this paper relates to the practical advantages of combining Ground Control Points (GCPs), Ground Control Lines (GCLs) and orbital data to estimate the exterior orientation parameters of images collected by CBERS-2B (China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite) HRC (High-resolution Camera) and CCD (High-resolution CCD Camera) sensors. Although the CBERS-2B is no longer operational, its images are still being used in Brazil, and the next generations of the CBERS satellite will have sensors with similar technical features, which motivates the study presented in this paper. The mathematical models that relate the object and image spaces are based on collinearity (for points) and coplanarity (for lines) conditions. These models were created in an in-house developed software package called TMS (Triangulation with Multiple Sensors) with multi-feature control (GCPs and GCLs). Experiments on a block of four CBERS-2B HRC images and on one CBERS-2B CCD image were performed using both models. It was observed that the combination of GCPs and GCLs provided better bundle block adjustment results than conventional bundle adjustment using only GCPs. The results also demonstrate the advantages of using primarily orbital data when the number of control entities is reduced. © 2013 International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Inc. In the fields of Machine Vision and Photogrammetry, extracted straight lines from digital images can be used either as vector elements of a digital representation or as control entities that allow the determination of the camera interior and exterior orientation parameters. Applications related with image orientation require feature extraction with subpixel precision, to guarantee the reliability of the estimated parameters. This paper presents three approaches for straight line extraction with subpixel precision. The first approach considers the subpixel refinement based on the weighted average of subpixel positions calculated on the direction perpendicular to the segmented straight line. In the second approach, a parabolic function is adjusted to the grey level profile of neighboring pixels in a perpendicular direction to the segmented line, followed by an interpolation of this model to estimate subpixel coordinates of the line center. In the third approach, the subpixel refinement is performed with a parabolic surface adjustment to the grey level values of neighboring pixels around the segmented line. The intersection of this surface with a normal plane to the line direction generates a parabolic equation that allows estimating the subpixel coordinates of the point in the straight line, assuming that this is the critical point of this function. Three experiments with real images were made and the approach based on parabolic surface adjustment has presented better results.

In this experimental study sintetic samples of Jacobsites (MnFe2O4) were synthesized by the Pechini method and calcined within ambient atmosphere and afterwards in the vacuum from 400 to 700ºC, the range of calcination temperatures. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and the Scanning Electronic Microscopy (SEM) analysis have shown that the samples treated at 400ºC temperature are composed by a simple type of spinel phase, with a crystallite size of 8:8nm for the sample calcined in ambient atmosphere and 20; 1nm for the sample treated in the vacuum, showing that the cristallite average size can be manipulated by the atmosphere control. The hysteresis loops for the sample calcined at 400ºC in ambient atmosphere reveal features of superparamagnetic behavior with magnetization 29:3emu=g at the maximum field of 1:2T. The sample calcined in 400oC under vacuum show magnetization = 67emu=g at the maximum field of 1:5T. The sample treated at 500oC, under ambient atmosphere, has shown besides the spinel phase, secondary phases of hematite (Fe2O3) and bixbyite (FeMnO3). The hysteresis loops demonstrate a sharp drop of the magnetization compared to the previous sample. The analysis has revealed that for the samples treated in higher temperatures (600ºC and 700ºC) its observed the absence of the spinel phase and the maintenance of the bixbyite and hematite. The hysteresis loops for those samples in accordance to the external magnetic field are straight lines crossing the origin, consistent with the antiferromagnetic behavior of the phases. The Mössbauer espectroscopy show to the sample calcined at 400ºC within ambiente atmosphere two sextet and one doublet. The two sextets are assigned to the hyperfine fields related to the magnetic deployment in the nuclei of Fe3+ ions, at the tetraedric and octaedric sites. The doublet is assigned to superparamagnetic behavior of the particles with smaller diameter than dc . Now the sample calcined at 400ºC under vacuum only show two sextet

The aim of this paper is to present a model for orientation of pushbroom sensors that allows estimating the polynomial coefficients describing the trajectory of the platform, using linear features as ground control. Considering that pushbroom image acquisition is not instantaneous, six EOP (Exterior Orientation Parameters) for each scanned line must be estimated. The sensor position and attitude parameters are modeled with a time dependent polynomial. The relationship between object and image space is established through a mathematical model based on the equivalence between the vector normal to the projection plane in the image space and to the vector normal to the rotated projection plane in the object space. The equivalence property between planes was adapted to consider the pushbroom geometry. Some experiments with simulated data corresponding to CBERS scene (China-Brazil Earth Resource Satellite) were accomplished in order to test the developed model using straight lines. Moreover, experiments with points ground with the model based on collinearity equations adapted to the pushbroom geometry were also accomplished. The obtained results showed that the proposed model can be used to estimate the EOP of pushbroom images with suitable accuracy.

The objective of this paper is to show an alternative representation in time domain of a non-transposed three-phase transmission line decomposed in its exact modes by using two transformation matrices. The first matrix is Clarke's matrix that is real, frequency independent, easily represented in computational transient programs (EMTP) and separates the line into Quasi-modes α, β and zero. After that, Quasi-modes a and zero are decomposed into their exact modes by using a modal transformation matrix whose elements can be synthesized in time domain through standard curve-fitting techniques. The main advantage of this alternative representation is to reduce the processing time because a frequency dependent modal transformation matrix of a three-phase line has nine elements to be represented in time domain while a modal transformation matrix of a two-phase line has only four elements. This paper shows modal decomposition process and eigenvectors of a non-transposed three-phase line with a vertical symmetry plane whose nominal voltage is 440 kV and line length is 500 km. ©2006 IEEE.
