Os padrões éticos da propaganda na América Latina

O presente estudo busca compreender a percepção sobre o conceito de ética, a performance ética e a responsabilidade social na atividade de propaganda na América Latina. Foram definidos padrões e diretrizes que norteiam a ação de um publicitário e, em função deles, foram analisadas tendências e intuições dos profissionais em nove países: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Panamá e Venezuela. A ausência de perspectiva ética pode estar sendo encontrada em muitas campanhas publicitárias veiculadas de inúmeras formas, nos anúncios de produtos, serviços e idéias.

MPM Propaganda : a história da agência dos anos de ouro da publicidade brasileira

O presente trabalho aborda, através da perspectiva histórica da Comunicação, a trajetória de uma agência de publicidade brasileira: a MPM Propaganda. Primeiro lugar no ranking brasileiro por uma década e meia, esta empresa é fundamental para o entendimento do contexto da atividade publicitária, pois o seu sucesso no mercado ilustra o potencial atingido pelas agências de capital nacional. A inauguração da MPM no Rio Grande do Sul, em 1957, possibilita articular o contexto gaúcho com o nacional, devido à expansão da agência a partir da década de 1960. Parte-se da relação histórica entre a publicidade e o capitalismo, ambientando-se na realidade brasileira as conformações da atividade publicitária típicas de um capitalismo retardatário. Ao tratar o pressuposto da publicidade como agente fundamental no sistema capitalista, articula-se a história da atividade publicitária a partir de fases da industrialização e da publicidade no Brasil, permitindo um entendimento sobre o contexto que envolveu a entrada da MPM no mercado, sua ascensão no contexto nacional, e o fim de sua trajetória ao ser adquirida por uma agência multinacional em 1991.

A teatralização da política: a propaganda abolicionista

Este artigo argumenta que, ao buscar modelos no repertório abolicionista estrangeiro para construir sua propaganda, os abolicionistas brasileiros viram suas possibilidades de escolha restritas pelas oportunidades políticas locais e pela tradição local católica. Contingências que impediram a simples transposição do modelo de ativismo estrangeiro e conduziram a uma atividade criativa de apropriação, em diálogo com o contexto e a tradição brasileiros. Processo que resultou numa reinvenção, uma vez que as artes, sobretudo o teatro, ganharam na propaganda abolicionista brasileira a proeminência que a religião teve na anglo-americana.

Própolis do sudeste e nordeste do Brasil: influência da sazonalidade na atividade antibacteriana e composição fenólica

The composition and biological activities of propolis, a resinous hive product collected by honeybees from various plant sources, depends on various factors such as season and vegetation of the area. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of the seasonal effect on the ethanolic extracts of Brazilian propolis (EEP) type 6 and type 12, collected during 6 months in terms of antibacterial activity and phenolic composition. The antimicrobial properties were evaluated by MIC and MBC on S. mutans Ingbritt 1600 and the profile of chemical composition by UV-visible spectrophotometry, HPLC-RF and GC-MS. The results demonstrated that the season in which propolis is collected influences its chemical composition, resulting in modifications in its antibacterial activity.

Alteração da atividade enzimática em organismos aquáticos por poluentes de origem agrícola: uma abordagem geral e sobre a suscetibilidade da fosfatase ácida

The input of agrochemicals in the aquatic compartment can results in biochemical injuries for living organisms. In this context, the knowledge of alterations of enzymatic activities due the presence of agriculture pollutants contributes for the elucidation of the mechanisms of toxicity, implementation of economic methods for monitoring purposes and establishment of maximum allowed concentrations. In the present work, the above considerations are discussed, and data concerning changes in enzymatic function by pesticides and fertilizer contaminants are reviewed. Also, we focused on the acid phosphatase due its susceptibility to several pollutants and diversity in cellular functions.

Glicoproteína-P, resistência a múltiplas drogas (MDR) e relação estrutura-atividade de moduladores

Multidrug resistance, MDR is a major obstacle for cancer chemotherapy. MDR can be reversed by drugs that vary in their chemical structure and main biological activity. Many efforts have been done to overcome MDR based on studies of structure-activity relationships and in this review we summarize some aspects of MDR mediated by P-glycoprotein (P-gp), as the most experimentally and clinically tested form of drug resistance. The most significant MDR mechanisms revealed until now are shortly discussed. Physicochemical and structural properties of MDR modulators, measures of the MDR reversal, and QSAR studies are included.

Estudo químico de Sinningia allagophylla guiado por testes de atividade antiproliferativa

Activity guided fractionation of Sinningia allagophylla (Mart.) Wiehler ethanolic extract yielded a new benzochromene 8-methoxylapachenol, besides seven known compounds: lapachenol, sitosteryl oleate, sitosteryl linoleate, stigmasteryl oleate, stigmasteryl linoleate, dunniol and tectoquinone. Extract, fractions, and compounds lapachenol, 8-methoxylapachenol, and dunniol were tested in vitro against human cancer cell lines U251 (glioma, CNS), MCF-7 (breast), NCI-ADR/RES (drug-resistant ovarian), 786-0 (kidney), NCI-H460 (lung, no small cells), PC-3 (prostate), OVCAR-3 (ovarian), HT-29 (colon), K562 (leukemia) and against VERO, a normal cell line. The most active compound was dunniol, which inhibited the growth of U251, MCF-7, NCI-ADR/RES, OVCAR-3 and K562 cell lines.

Atividade de extratos de Arrabidaea chica (Humb. & Bonpl.) Verlot obtidos por processos biotecnológicos sobre a proliferação de fibroblastos e células tumorais humanas

Arrabidaea chica (H&B) Verlot is a plant popularly known as Pariri and this species is a known source of anthocyanins, flavonoids and tannins. This report describes an approach involving enzymatic treatment prior to extraction procedures to enhance A chica crude extract anticancer activity. Anticancer activity in human cancer cell lines in vitro using a 48 h SRB cell viability assay was performed to determine growth inhibition and cytotoxic properties. The final extraction yield without enzyme treatment was higher (24.28%) compared to the enzyme-treated material (19.03%), with an enhanced aglycones anthocyanin ratio as determined by HPLC- DAD and LC-MS with direct infusion.

Influência da atividade física na qualidade de vida e auto-imagem de mulheres incontinentes

Our aim was to verify the influence of a physical activities proposal in the quality of life and self image of incontinent women. This study was comparative and exploratory and was developed in 16 weeks. Thirty-seven women with and without urinary incontinence (IU) participated in the study. After the study, significant improvement in general health perception (p < 0.001), UI impact (p = 0.035), physical limitations (p = 0.015), personal relations, (p = 0.048), sleep and disposition (p = 0.012) and concerned with the gravity measurements (p = 0.011) was observed. Concerning self image, alterations in appearance were not observed; however, concerning body satisfaction, the women felt less satisfied with their bodies (p = 0.007). There was a reduction in the number of regions where they felt pain (p = 0.0003) and that they did not like (p = 0.0017). In conclusion, the Physical Education professionals using a systematized and integrated physical activities program can lead the women with IU to significant improvement in the perception of their quality of life and health concerning their self image with improvement of the IU symptoms and reduction of frequency and amount of urinary loss.

PREDIÇÃO DA ATIVIDADE DE ÁGUA E RELAÇÃO ENTRE A ATIVIDADE DE ÁGUA E A DEPRESSÃO DO PONTO DE CONGELAMENTO DE SUCOS DE FRUTAS

This work proposes to determine the water activity and the freezing point depression of tangerine, pineapple and lemon juices at various concentrations (10-55oBrix) and to achieve a correlation between these properties. The freezing point depression was determined with a LAKTRON cryoscope and common laboratory materials. The water activity was determined with a DECAGON CX-2 hygrometer in the temperature range of 15 to 30oC. With the results, the adjustment to CHEN (1987) water activity prediction equation to non-electrolyte mixtures was verified, through the calculation of the variation coefficient (CV). Being CV smaller than 3% for the proposed model, it can be said that the experimental data have adjusted well to the prediction equation. The water activity and the freezing point depression was correlated for tangerine, pineapple and lemon juices and r2 values were higher than 99%. Therefore, it is possible to obtain the water activity by knowing the freezing point depression of studied juices.
