O urbano em questão na antropologia: interfaces com a sociologia

O artigo aborda temas em torno da dimensão urbana na antropologia, explorando diálogos de fronteira entre tal disciplina e a sociologia em três momentos específicos: o primeiro sobre as décadas iniciais da Escola de Chicago, época de definição de uma pauta de pesquisas etnográficas sobre a cidade e a cultura urbana, com investigações pioneiras sobre a segregação socioespacial, com ênfase no conceito de gueto; no segundo, analisam-se interfaces entre a antropologia e a sociologia urbanas em São Paulo, nas décadas de 1970 e 1980, em torno do tema da periferia, com a produção de pesquisas marcadas pela polarização entre os conceitos de cultura e ideologia; finalmente, enfocam-se desafios contemporâneos à antropologia urbana, buscando-se retomar tópicos de um diálogo disciplinar que ocorre apenas implicitamente, bem como reaver o tema da periferia, tendo em vista fenômenos recentes que implicam tomá-la simultaneamente como espacialidade, processo e conjunto polifônico de representações nativas.

Uma antropologia da experiência amorosa : estudo de representações sociais sobre sexualidade

o tema desta pesquisa são concepções e práticas de iniciação sexual-afetiva de jovens moradores de Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro e Salvador (Brasil). O meu objeto de análise são representações sociais destes jovens entrevistados acerca de suas experiências afetivas, amorosas e/ou sexuais, a partir de suas narrativas sobre sua primeira experiência amorosa. Entendendo que os significados que estruturam e são atualizados nas relações afetivas e nas práticas sexuais dos jovens são fornecidos pela cultura, investiguei em que medida as relações de gênero e os diferenciais dados pelo pertencimento a diferentes segmentos sociais (popular ou médio/alto) determinam diferenças nas representações destes jovens acerca da sexualidade. As principais conclusões apontam para a existência de sistemas de significados sexuais diferenciados, em primeiro lugar, pelas relações de gênero e, em segundo, pelo segmento social. Mulheres e homens falam de suas relações amorosas e de sexo de maneiras distintas: os discursos femininos centram-se na contextualização afetivo-romântica de suas relações, enquanto os discursos masculinos enfocam a capacidade técnica-corporal para o desempenho do ato sexual. O material aqui analisado constitui uma parte dos dados oriundos de uma etapa qualitativa de um projeto de pesquisa intitulado "Gravidez na Adolescência: Estudo Multicêntrico sobre Jovens, Sexualidade e Reprodução no Brasil" (G,RAVAD) desenvolvido pelo IMS-UERJ, MUSA-UFBA e NUPACS-UFRGS.

Okupar, resistir, insistir : uma etnografia das práticas de ocupação urbana Fortaleza / Ceará

The objective of this dissertation is understand the relationships built between subjects who occupy buildings in a state of abandonment to revitalize them - called okupas, noting which individuals construct such meanings on the practice of occupation and how to organize the construction and maintenance of a collective life project. Having the Okupa Squat Torém, located in the neighborhood of Fatima in the southern city of Fortaleza-CE, as locus and observed through the ethnographic method, followed the social practices of urban segment. I invested in a data collection revealed that the custom of okupas and their domestic habits, inside and outside of okupa, emphasizing the interaction situations, like most appropriate occasions to observe the constant negotiation and refinement of his cunning to intervene in the city . Among the objectives of this research, the main thing is to observe which senses are assigned to the practice of the occupation by okupas. For this, reflecting from the specifics of this urban phenomenon and talking mostly with the tradition of research in the field of anthropology, I tried to address some issues regarding the practice of okupação and organization of the group, which the principles and movements that make these contacts with city etc. The appropriation made by the subjects on the urban space here means understanding them as a cultural expression of a number of collective values, resulting from experience and perception of okupas like themselves. The intention is to show how this practice intervention and collective action has appeared in contemporary times and how my ethnography can contribute to a dialogue on the practices of mobilization and update of the city, considering the Theory of Recognition Axel Honneth (2003) as an analytical category useful to describe the forms of reciprocity experienced by okupas

Quando as regras e normas não estão no papel: uma contribuição da antropologia dos sistemas informais para a elucidação do trabalho dos moto-taxistas em Uberlândia – MG

The motorcycle service, a public service consisting in transporting people and small loads by motorcycle, appeared in Brazil in the great Northeast, in the mid-1990s, but soon spread to all regions of the country. No entanto, a sua ampliação e consolidação pelo território nacional aconteceu de maneira desordenada e desacompanhada de regulamentação. Despite being present in Uberlândia - MG approximately 17 (seventeen) years, the motorcycle taxi service has not been regulated in the city yet. According to the most common theoretical perspective in Brazil, which considers all informal activities that are exempt from regulation by the government, the motorcycle taxi is considered an informal activity in Uberlândia. In this context, this research uses another approach on the informality, based on Anthropology, which takes as its object of analysis the specific meanings attributed by the workers themselves to their informal activities, to demonstrate how the motorcycle taxi service in Uberlândia - MG, although it was done on the sidelines of state regulation, it is able to create a generis operating logic, developing structures, own rules and regulations. Through ethnographic research method and research techniques such as observation and interview, it could demonstrate that Uberlandia citizens moto-taxi drivers are subject to many different stories, in spite of its social life to some small area of their institutional fragile ties , that shape institutional informality, but not the rule of formal relations, socially constructed through private and own cultural codes. The work also seeks to demonstrated that the point of view of institutional relations, much as the motorcycle taxi service is an activity held on the margins of government regulation, it creates its own logic of operation, a kind of organizational subculture, which guides the actions of bike -taxis in the activities and around the city.

As cidades de Tristes trópicos

Este artigo repassa, em Tristes trópicos, as observações de Lévi-Strauss sobre o tema da cidade, desde as primeiras impressões quando de sua chegada ao Brasil, passando pela "etnografia dos domingos" na capital paulistana, o surgimento das novas cidades no norte do Paraná, até, finalmente, as multidões em espaços urbanos da Índia, pólo que o leva a estabelecer comparações com as formas características do processo de urbanização no Novo Mundo. Tomando sua leitura como um exercício de análise, o artigo conclui refletindo sobre a oportunidade de contar com categorias que permitam captar, a partir da antropologia, a dinâmica urbana contemporânea.

Notas sobre a análise antropológica de setores do Estado brasileiro

Este artigo pretende discutir algumas questões que envolvem a análise antropológica do Estado, tomando como base duas experiências etnográficas distintas: uma pesquisa com o exército, outra com órgãos de defesa do consumidor. Com esse objetivo, desenvolve-se uma reflexão preliminar sobre problemas teóricos e metodológicos relacionados ao estudo de objetos dessa natureza em nossa sociedade.

Ideal e degradação, heteronomia e familiarismo - duas investigações sobre a "gestão racional" das margens sociais

A investigação na área da antropologia urbana, que temos vindo a conduzir em conjunto, desde os finais dos anos 80, levou-nos à constmção da hipótese de que, a coberto de algumas ideologias tradicionais - o pragmatismo, os ideais de gestão racional da vida social, o familialismo, o cosmopolitismo, etc. - as instituições responsáveis por essa mesma «gestão racional» da vida urbana são governadas por estratégias inconscientes que bloqueiam qualquer reflexão institucional e/ou pesquisa de estratégias alternativas mais apropriadas à prossecução da globalidade dos objectivos insdtucionais manifestados e/ou pressupostos.
