Der Artikel ist eine Analyse der an deutschen Hochschulen zunehmenden Graduiertenschulen. Am Beispiel des Trainingsprogramms für DoktorandInnen und Post-Docs aller Disziplinen an der Goethe Universität in Frankfurt/M. wird gezeigt, wie sich die Ausbildung von ForscherInnen verändert. Als Ausbildungsstätte verstanden bieten die Universitäten Kurse und Workshops an, die für eine wissenschaftliche Karriere als notwendig angesehen werden. Dabei gerät die Krise der wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnis als Generierung des Neuen vermehrt aus dem Blick. (DIPF/Orig.)

A expansão da Educação Superior por intermédio das universidades públicas federais é opção expressa do MEC através de dois programas criados no governo Lula: Programa de Expansão da Educação Superior Pública/Expandir (2003-2006) e Programa de Apoio a Planos de Expansão e Reestruturação de Universidades Federais/REUNI – 2007/2012. Este trabalho analisa a implementação destas políticas no âmbito da Universidade Federal do Pará como subsídios para garantir a política de expansão desta IES, pautada sobre a filosofia universidade multicampi e a noção de vocações regionais. Auxiliam-nos na interpretação autores como: Santos (2010), Trigueiro (2003), Dourado (2002) Fialho (2005), Freitas (2005), Yu e Façanha (2011), Lima (2011) Souza e Shibata (2011), entre outros. O texto apresenta o cenário da política de educação superior entre 1980 e 2010 no Brasil. Refaz o percurso da construção da política multicampi na UFPA e procura estabelecer relação entre a adoção desta filosofia de gestão e expansão e a composição dos quadros docente dos campi. Para tanto, analisa os processos internos de gestão e decisão nesta organização universitária complexa e estruturada como burocracia profissional, evidenciado as escolhas e rumos tomados por seus dirigentes na condução das macropolíticas do MEC no sentido de organizar/estruturar os quadros docente de suas unidades acadêmicas regionais (os campi). Esta análise identifica uma iniquidade na distribuição das vagas para docentes efetivos entre os campi da UFPA, fruto de uma estratégia organizacional, de decisões e escolhas - filosofia de expansão baseada nas vocações econômicas regionais - que optou por investir prioritariamente em alguns campi em detrimento de outros, política iniciada em 1998, nas linhas de ação para III Projeto Norte de Interiorização 1998-2001 (III PNI) e que culminou na distribuição dos recursos dos Programas EXPANDIR e REUNI.

O objeto deste estudo se referiu à extensão universitária, abordado a partir dos conceitos de universidade, organização, conhecimento e extensão. Buscou-se responder a seguinte pergunta: Os produtos gerados, por via de projetos, nas práticas extensionistas desenvolvidas pelo ICS/UFPA, cumprem as prerrogativas da Política Nacional de Extensão Universitária? Objetivou-se, de modo geral, analisar as práticas extensionistas do Instituto de Ciências da Saúde (ICS) da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) à luz da Política Nacional de Extensão Universitária (PNEU), compreendida na interação dialógica, interdisciplinaridade e interprofissionalidade, indissociabilidade ensino-pesquisa-extensão, impacto na formação do estudante e, impacto e transformação social, contemplada na Política de Extensão da UFPA. A metodologia da pesquisa seguiu-se pela abordagem quantitativa e qualitativa com aporte bibliográfico e documental. Consultaram-se o acervo dos mais variados documentos, dado mais evidência àqueles enfocados sobre a extensão universitária no ano de 2012, contidos nas diversas instâncias da UFPA. Selecionaram-se para análise deste estudo 80 projetos e 60 relatórios de extensão do ICS do ano de 2012. Os resultados revelaram que as prerrogativas da PNEU ficaram muito aquém de serem atingidas pelos produtos do ICS, quando se tratou de interdisciplinaridade e interprofissionalidade, indissociabilidade ensinopesquisa- extensão, e, impacto e transformação social. Além disso, foi encontrada pouca participação por parte dos docentes, discentes e técnico-administrativos do ICS em dita atividade. Concluiu-se que o modelo de extensão do ICS é assistencial, desenvolvido através de prestação de serviços.

Ein institutionell durchlässiges Bildungssystem ist … eine grundlegende Voraussetzung für die Ermöglichung flexibler Bildungsbiographien und damit auch die Verwirklichung von gleichen Bildungschancen. Aber wie kann institutionelle Durchlässigkeit zwischen beruflicher und akademischer Bildung in Deutschland gefördert werden? Und wie kann dafür Sorge getragen werden, dass trotz einer Flexibilisierung die jeweilige Kernlogik von beruflicher und akademischer Bildung aufrecht erhalten wird, die von vielen Akteuren in ihrer Komplementarität als Träger eines erfolgreichen Bildungssystems gesehen werden? In dieser Expertise werden … die Teildimensionen institutioneller Durchlässigkeit genauer betrachtet: (I.) Zugang in Bildungsbereiche, (II.) Anrechnung von Erlerntem, (III.) organisationale Verbindung von Bildungsbereichen und (IV.) Umgang mit heterogenen Bedürfnissen (Abschnitt 2). Im nächsten Schritt wird ein Überblick über wichtige Initiativen und Regelungen zu Durchlässigkeit in Deutschland gegeben (Abschnitt 3). Es folgt eine kurze Vorstellung des methodischen Vorgehens und Begründung der Fallauswahl (Sektion 4.1). Darauf aufbauend werden drei (über-)regionale Initiativen, in denen Durchlässigkeit zwischen Berufs- und Hochschulbildung innovativ gefördert wird, genauer vorgestellt und analysiert. Dabei handelt es sich um die "Offene Hochschule Niedersachsen", die Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg und den Modellversuch "Duale Berufsausbildung mit Abitur in Sachsen" (DuBAS) (Abschnitt 4). Übergeordnetes Ziel ist es, anhand des Überblicks über durchlässigkeitsfördernde Programme, aber insbesondere auch durch die vertiefende Darstellung der regionalen Fallstudien, mögliche Bedingungen für erfolgreiche Durchlässigkeitsstrukturen zwischen Berufs- und Hochschulbildung, aber auch Barrieren zu identifizieren und daraus relevante Schlussfolgerungen abzuleiten (Abschnitt 5). ABSTRACT - Objectives: We attempted to show how the implementation of the key elements of the World Health Organization Patient Safety Curriculum Guide Multi-professional Edition in an undergraduate curriculum affected the knowledge, skills, and attitudes towards patient safety in a graduate entry Portuguese Medical School. Methods: After receiving formal recognition by the WHO as a Complementary Test Site and approval of the organizational ethics committee , the validated pre-course questionnaires measuring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to patient safety were administered to the 2nd and3rd year students pursuing a four-year course (N = 46). The key modules of the curriculum were implemented over the academic year by employing a variety of learning strategies including expert lecturers, small group problem-based teaching sessions, and Simulation Laboratory sessions. The identical questionnaires were then administered and the impact was measured. The Curriculum Guide was evaluated as a health education tool in this context. Results: A significant number of the respondents, 47 % (n = 22), reported having received some form of prior patient safety training. The effect on Patient Safety Knowledge was assessed by using the percentage of correct pre- and post-course answers to construct 2 × 2 contingency tables and by applying Fishers’ test (two-tailed). No significant differences were detected (p < 0.05). To assess the effect of the intervention on Patient Safety skills and attitudes, the mean and standard deviation were calculated for the pre and post-course responses, and independent samples were subjected to Mann-Whitney’s test. The attitudinal survey indicated a very high baseline incidence of desirable attitudes and skills toward patient safety. Significant changes were detected (p < 0.05) regarding what should happen if an error is made (p = 0.016), the role of healthcare organizations in error reporting (p = 0.006), and the extent of medical error (p = 0.005). Conclusions: The implementation of selected modules of the WHO Patient Safety Curriculum was associated with a number of positive changes regarding patient safety skills and attitudes, with a baseline incidence of highly desirable patient safety attitudes, but no measureable change on the patient safety knowledge, at the University of Algarve Medical School. The significance of these results is discussed along with implications and suggestions for future research.

Three methodological limitations in English-Chinese contrastive rhetoric research have been identified in previous research, namely: the failure to control for the quality of L1 data; an inference approach to interpreting the relationship between L1 and L2 writing; and a focus on national cultural factors in interpreting rhetorical differences. Addressing these limitations, the current study examined the presence or absence and placement of thesis statement and topic sentences in four sets of argumentative texts produced by three groups of university students. We found that Chinese students tended to favour a direct/deductive approach in their English and Chinese writing, while native English writers typically adopted an indirect/inductive approach. This study argues for a dynamic and ecological interpretation of rhetorical practices in different languages and cultures.

It explores the organizational structures of governing boards and administrative offices, as well as the role of system offices in coordinating across constituent campuses and protecting mission differentiation.

This document is the result of a process of web development to create a tool that will allow to Cracow University of Technology consult, create and manage timetables. The technologies chosen for this purpose are Apache Tomcat Server, My SQL Community Server, JDBC driver, Java Servlets and JSPs for the server side. The client part counts on Javascript, jQuery, AJAX and CSS technologies to perform the dynamism. The document will justify the choice of these technologies and will explain some development tools that help in the integration and development of all this elements: specifically, NetBeans IDE and MySQL workbench have been used as helpful tools. After explaining all the elements involved in the development of the web application, the architecture and the code developed are explained through UML diagrams. Some implementation details related to security are also deeper explained through sequence diagrams. As the source code of the application is provided, an installation manual has been developed to run the project. In addition, as the platform is intended to be a beta that will be grown, some unimplemented ideas for future development are also exposed. Finally, some annexes with important files and scripts related to the initiation of the platform are attached. This project started through an existing tool that needed to be expanded. The main purpose of the project along its development has focused on setting the roots for a whole new platform that will replace the existing one. For this goal, it has been needed to make a deep inspection on the existing web technologies: a web server and a SQL database had to be chosen. Although the alternatives were a lot, Java technology for the server was finally selected because of the big community backwards, the easiness of modelling the language through UML diagrams and the fact of being free license software. Apache Tomcat is the open source server that can use Java Servlet and JSP technology. Related to the SQL database, MySQL Community Server is the most popular open-source SQL Server, with a big community after and quite a lot of tools to manage the server. JDBC is the driver needed to put in contact Java and MySQL. Once we chose the technologies that would be part of the platform, the development process started. After a detailed explanation of the development environment installation, we used UML use case diagrams to set the main tasks of the platform; UML class diagrams served to establish the existing relations between the classes generated; the architecture of the platform was represented through UML deployment diagrams; and Enhanced entity–relationship (EER) model were used to define the tables of the database and their relationships. Apart from the previous diagrams, some implementation issues were explained to make a better understanding of the developed code - UML sequence diagrams helped to explain this. Once the whole platform was properly defined and developed, the performance of the application has been shown: it has been proved that with the current state of the code, the platform covers the use cases that were set as the main target. Nevertheless, some requisites needed for the proper working of the platform have been specified. As the project is aimed to be grown, some ideas that could not be added to this beta have been explained in order not to be missed for future development. Finally, some annexes containing important configuration issues for the platform have been added after proper explanation, as well as an installation guide that will let a new developer get the project ready. In addition to this document some other files related to the project are provided: - Javadoc. The Javadoc containing the information of every Java class created is necessary for a better understanding of the source code. - database_model.mwb. This file contains the model of the database for MySQL Workbench. This model allows, among other things, generate the MySQL script for the creation of the tables. - ScheduleManager.war. The WAR file that will allow loading the developed application into Tomcat Server without using NetBeans. - ScheduleManager.zip. The source code exported from NetBeans project containing all Java packages, JSPs, Javascript files and CSS files that are part of the platform. - config.properties. The configuration file to properly get the names and credentials to use the database, also explained in Annex II. Example of config.properties file. - db_init_script.sql. The SQL query to initiate the database explained in Annex III. SQL statements for MySQL initialization. RESUMEN. Este proyecto tiene como punto de partida la necesidad de evolución de una herramienta web existente. El propósito principal del proyecto durante su desarrollo se ha centrado en establecer las bases de una completamente nueva plataforma que reemplazará a la existente. Para lograr esto, ha sido necesario realizar una profunda inspección en las tecnologías web existentes: un servidor web y una base de datos SQL debían ser elegidos. Aunque existen muchas alternativas, la tecnología Java ha resultado ser elegida debido a la gran comunidad de desarrolladores que tiene detrás, además de la facilidad que proporciona este lenguaje a la hora de modelarlo usando diagramas UML. Tampoco hay que olvidar que es una tecnología de uso libre de licencia. Apache Tomcat es el servidor de código libre que permite emplear Java Servlets y JSPs para hacer uso de la tecnología de Java. Respecto a la base de datos SQL, el servidor más popular de código libre es MySQL, y cuenta también con una gran comunidad detrás y buenas herramientas de modelado, creación y gestión de la bases de datos. JDBC es el driver que va a permitir comunicar las aplicaciones Java con MySQL. Tras elegir las tecnologías que formarían parte de esta nueva plataforma, el proceso de desarrollo tiene comienzo. Tras una extensa explicación de la instalación del entorno de desarrollo, se han usado diagramas de caso de UML para establecer cuáles son los objetivos principales de la plataforma; los diagramas de clases nos permiten realizar una organización del código java desarrollado de modo que sean fácilmente entendibles las relaciones entre las diferentes clases. La arquitectura de la plataforma queda definida a través de diagramas de despliegue. Por último, diagramas EER van a definir las relaciones entre las tablas creadas en la base de datos. Aparte de estos diagramas, algunos detalles de implementación se van a justificar para tener una mejor comprensión del código desarrollado. Diagramas de secuencia ayudarán en estas explicaciones. Una vez que toda la plataforma haya quedad debidamente definida y desarrollada, se va a realizar una demostración de la misma: se demostrará cómo los objetivos generales han sido alcanzados con el desarrollo actual del proyecto. No obstante, algunos requisitos han sido aclarados para que la plataforma trabaje adecuadamente. Como la intención del proyecto es crecer (no es una versión final), algunas ideas que se han podido llevar acabo han quedado descritas de manera que no se pierdan. Por último, algunos anexos que contienen información importante acerca de la plataforma se han añadido tras la correspondiente explicación de su utilidad, así como una guía de instalación que va a permitir a un nuevo desarrollador tener el proyecto preparado. Junto a este documento, ficheros conteniendo el proyecto desarrollado quedan adjuntos. Estos ficheros son: - Documentación Javadoc. Contiene la información de las clases Java que han sido creadas. - database_model.mwb. Este fichero contiene el modelo de la base de datos para MySQL Workbench. Esto permite, entre otras cosas, generar el script de iniciación de la base de datos para la creación de las tablas. - ScheduleManager.war. El fichero WAR que permite desplegar la plataforma en un servidor Apache Tomcat. - ScheduleManager.zip. El código fuente exportado directamente del proyecto de Netbeans. Contiene todos los paquetes de Java generados, ficheros JSPs, Javascript y CSS que forman parte de la plataforma. - config.properties. Ejemplo del fichero de configuración que permite obtener los nombres de la base de datos - db_init_script.sql. Las consultas SQL necesarias para la creación de la base de datos.
