In Semarang City, groundwater has been exploited as a natural resource since 1841. The groundwater exploited in deep wells is concentrated in confined aquifers. The previous hydrogeological model was developed in one unit of aquifer and refined then by using several hydrostratigraphical units following a regional hydrogeological map without any further analysis. At present, there is a lack of precise hydrogeological model which integrates geological and hydrogeological data, in particular for multiple aquifers in Semarang. Thus, the aim of this paper is to develop a hydrogeological model for the multiple aquifers in Semarang using an integrated data approach. Groundwater samples in the confined aquifers have been analyzed to define the water type and its lateral distribution. Two hydrogeological cross sections were then created based on several borelog data to define a hydrostratigraphical unit (HSU). The HSU result indicates the hydrogeological model of Semarang consists of two aquifers, three aquitards, and one aquiclude. Aquifer 1 is unconfined, while Aquifer 2 is confined. Aquifer 2 is classified into three groups (2a, 2b, and 2c) based on analyses of major ion content and hydrostratigraphical cross sections.

This work aimed at describing the Neoproterozoic evolution of a Southern Brasília Fold Belt segment, in Tapira area (southwest of Minas Gerais state, Brazil), using detailed geologic mapping. This area, the Canastra Group type-area, has showed great tectonic and stratigraphic complexities unlike the simplicity suggested in previous works. From recognizing the main tectonic discontinuities, it was possible to subdivide the area into some domains. In the west domain, they were individualized in tectonic sheet I, marked by pelitic rocks and pelitic-graphite rocks with psammitic intercalations, and II, pelitic rocks with psammitic and mafic-ultramafic intercalations overlapped by gneisses. In the east domain, a group of three tectonic sheets was defined, in which, in the two lower tectonic sheets, pelitic and pelitic-graphite rocks with psammitic rock intercalations prevailed, which is different in metamorphic conditions. The lower tectonic sheet is marked by mineralogical associations with muscovite + chlorite + quartz ± graphite ± albite, without biotite; however, the superior one is with muscovite + quartz + garnet ± chlorite ± biotite ± chloritoid ± graphite ± albite. In the upper tectonic sheet, pelitic rocks with local contributions of psammitic and ultramafics rocks occur. In the south domain, psammitic rocks basically occur with contributions of pelitics and rudaceous rocks, where the preservation of textures and sedimentary structures is common. Rocks of the several domains are interpreted as part of a passive continental margin basin, located in the western margin of the São Francisco paleocontinent. Thus, the south domain rocks would represent the facies of proximal platform; rocks of the lower and middle tectonic sheets (east domain) and of the tectonic sheet I (west domain) are of facies distal platform; and the ones from the upper tectonic sheet (east domain) and tectonic sheet II (west domain) were acknowledged as deposited in an environment of continental shelf and/or oceanic seafoor.

Southern Madagascar is the core of a >1 million km(2) Gondwanan metasedimentary belt that forms much of the southern East African Orogen of eastern Africa, Madagascar, southern India and Sri Lanka. Here the Vohibory Series yielded U-Pb isotopic data from detrital zircon cores that indicate that it was deposited in the latest Tonian to late Cryogenian (between -900 and 640 Ma). The deposition of the Graphite and Androyen Series protoliths is poorly constrained to between the late Palaeoproterozoic and the Cambrian (similar to 1830-530 Ma). The Vohibory Series protoliths were sourced from very restricted-aged sources with a maximum age range between 910 and 760 Ma. The Androyen and Graphite Series protoliths were sourced from Palaeoproterozoic rocks ranging in age between 2300 and 1800 Ma. The best evidence of the timing of metamorphism in the Vohibory Series is a weighted mean Pb-206/U-238 age of 642 +/- 8 Ma from 3 analyses of zircon from sample M03-01. A considerably younger Pb-206/U-238 metamorphic age of 531 +/- 7 Ma is produced from 10 analyses of zircon from sample M03-28 in the Androyen Series. This similar to 110 Ma difference in age is correlated with the early East African Orogeny affecting the west of Madagascar along with its type area in East Africa, whereas the Cambrian Malagasy Orogeny affected the east of Madagascar and southern India during the final suturing of the Mozambique Ocean. Based on a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of Recent sediments samples (top 3 cm of cores as well as Petersen grab samples) from the Drake Passage, between South America and Antarctica, the distribution of planktonic foraminifera and their relation to oceanographic conditions was investigated. The Antarctic Convergence - the northern limit of the cold Antarctic Surface Water - is shown to be of major importance in controlling the distributional pattern of planktonic species as well as their total numbers. South of the convergence, Globigerina pachyderma is usually the only species found in the sediment. It occurs with abundances not greater than 6000 per gram dry sediment, and at most stations less than 100 specimens per gram of dry sediment were recovered. At a number of deep-sea stations below 3700 m depth approx. no planktonic foraminifera were found at all. It is most probable, that at least some of these stations are located below the limit of CaCO3 dissolution. North of the Antarctic Convergence planktonic foraminiferal numbers are much higher and range from 1800 to 120000 per gram of dry sediment. Eight species are the major constituents of the population: Globigerina pachyderma, Globigerina bulloides, Globogerina quinqueloba, Globigerina inflata, Globorotalia truncatolinoides, Globorotalia scitula, Globigerinita glutinata and Globigerinita uvula. The widespread occurrence of Globorotalia truncatulinoides, which in the northern hemisphere is usually a subtropical form, is especially noteworthy. Another Globigerina, morphologically similar to G. pachyderma, has been recognized frequently north of the Antarctic Convergence. Globigerina megastoma which has its type area in the Drake Passage, has been found only rarely. Orbulina universa occurs in samples from the areas of higher water temperature around the South American Continent. Globigerina pachyderma is predominantly sinistrally coiled throughout the area investigated, but a slight increase in the percentage of dextrally coiled specimens may be noticed with increasing water temperature, i.e. from south to north.

The 40 km of coastline from Fortrose to Chaslands Mistake (southeastern South Island, New Zealand) comprises sediments that are part of the Early-Middle Jurassic of the Murihiku Terrane. The sediments are dominantly fluvial with some marine beds and alluvial fan deposition, and display an evolution of fluvial style which progresses from perennial flow to seasonal flow. The McPhee Cove Conglomerate is a prominent unit to the north. It has been used to separate two formations which would otherwise, on inherent lithological grounds, be difficult to distinguish. This paper discusses several similar conglomerates which occur in the south, but which are separated from the type area of the McPhee Conglomerate by major tectonic disruption. Hence, the existing lithostratigraphic nomenclature to the north, including the McPhee Cove Conglomerate, cannot be simply extended southwards. The Fortrose-Chaslands area appears to consist of two tectonic blocks, the Slope Point Block and the Brothers Block, which are separated from each other and from the adjacent Papatowai Block by major strike faults (or fault zones). A change is proposed to the existing stratigraphy which involves recognising all terrestrial sediments as part of the False Island Formation. Four prominent clast-supported conglomerate horizons are named as members of the False Islet Formation: the White Head Conglomerate, Black Bluff Conglomerate. Hoiho Conglomerate, and Slope Point Conglomerate Members. The latter contains five named conglomerate beds.

The National Curricular Guidelines for nutrition course predict training directed to the work in the Unified Health System (SUS) and the mandatory completion of course work. The aim of this study was to analyze the formation of dieticians in Rio Grande do Norte state/Brazil to work in the SUS, from the compulsory scientific production provided for training. This is a bibliometric study, quantitative approach, performed with completion of course works of five nutrition undergraduate courses in Rio Grande do Norte state in the years 2013/2013. From the reading of the works, the following variables were collected: nature of the institution, institution administrative category, location, work title, number of authors, work format, titration of the teacher advisor, study type, area of interest, scenery of accomplishment, submission to the ethics committee, suitability of descriptors and, as pertaining to the field of public health, the subfield of public health and the theme. The pedagogical projects of the courses were read and were identified opportunities to develop research in the graduation. For detection of significant categories we applied the Pearson chisquare test. We analyzed 195 works, coming mostly belonging to universities courses (79.0%) and private institutions (56.4%). A higher frequency of articles (68.2%), developed by one student (65.6%), guided by master teachers (57.9%), with cross-sectional study design (49.2%), conducted in laboratory (25%) and without submission to the ethics committee in research (49.2%) was find. The median adequacy of descriptors was 50%. As for the interest of the study, there was a higher frequency of work in the field of public health (p <0.001), within this subfield highlighting the nutritional epidemiology (63.0%) (p <0.001) and the subject nutrition assessment (57, 4%) (p <0.001). In cut on three major areas of dietician performance, was significant performing work in the field of public health in public institutions (p <0.05). The presence of complementary activities was unanimous in the pedagogical projects of the courses. The results of the study showed some methodological weaknesses in the research approaches, as well as a hegemonic positivist training. Despite the emphasis on public health, it was noticed little approximation of policies and nutrition programs in the context of the mandatory recearch of Rio Grande do Norte state nutrition courses.

A series of novel, microporous polymer networks (MPNs) have been generated in a simple, acid catalysed Friedel-Crafts-type self-condensation of A(2)B(2)- and A(2)B(4)-type fluorenone monomers. Two A2B4-type monomers with 2,7-bis(N, N-diphenylamino) A or 2,7-bis [4-(N, N-diphenylamino) phenyl] D substitution of the fluorenone cores lead to MPNs with high S(BET) surface areas of up to 1400 m(2) g(-1). Two MPNs made of binary monomer mixtures showed the highest Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface areas S(BET) of our series (SBET of up to 1800 m(2) g(-1)) after washing the powdery samples with supercritical carbon dioxide. Total pore volumes of up to 1.6 cm(3) g(-1) have been detected. It is observed that the substitution pattern of the monomers is strongly influencing the resulting physicochemical properties of the microporous polymer networks (MPNs).
