The European Project Semester at ISEP (EPS@ISEP) is a one semester project-based learning programme addressed to engineering students from diverse scientific backgrounds and nationalities. The students, organized in multicultural teams, are challenged to solve real world multidisciplinary problems, accounting for 30 ECTU. The EPS package, although focused on project development (20 ECTU), includes a series of complementary seminars aimed at fostering soft, project-related and engineering transversal skills (10 ECTU). This paper presents the study plan, resources, operation and results of the EPS@ISEP that was created in 2011 to apply the best engineering education practices and promote the internationalization of ISEP. The results show that the EPS@ISEP students acquire during one semester the scientific, technical and soft competences necessary to propose, design and implement a solution for a multidisciplinary problem.

Current engineering education challenges require approaches that promote scientific, technical, design and complementary skills while fostering autonomy, innovation and responsibility. The European Project Semester (EPS) at Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) (EPS@ISEP) is a one semester project-based learning programme (30 European Credit Transfer Units (ECTU)) for engineering students from diverse scientific backgrounds and nationalities that intends to address these goals. The students, organised in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, are challenged to solve real multidisciplinary problems during one semester. The EPS package, although on project development (20 ECTU), includes a series of complementary seminars aimed at fostering soft, project-related and engineering transversal skills (10 ECTU). Hence, the students enrolled in this programme improve their transversal skills and learn, together and with the team of supervisors, subjects distinct from their core training. This paper presents the structure, implementation and results of the EPS@ISEP that was created in 2011 to apply the best engineering practices and promote internationalisation and engineering education innovation at ISEP.

A competitividade contempornea e a globalizao impulsionaram as empresas a explorar novos mercados, e a munir-se de recursos distintivos e de valor acrescentado. Para alm da expanso dos mercados, Le Boterf (2006) afirma que a solicitao social de confiana tem aumentado, e as empresas tm de ser capazes de proporcionar e garanti-la. Neste sentido a adequao dos Recursos Humanos imperativo na estratgia das organizaes. Este estudo tem como objetivos compreender qual a importncia das competncias transversais na misso internacional, compreender quais as competncias transversais que so mais valorizadas pelos recrutadores e como feita a sua avaliao. Para conseguir responder a estas questes, emerge a investigao que se segue, com um cariz qualitativo. O mtodo de recolha de dados utilizado foi a entrevista semiestruturada e foram entrevistados dez recrutadores de expatriados. Os resultados sugerem que as competncias transversais so caractersticas importantes na misso internacional, uma vez que atuam em fatores que influenciam o sucesso da misso. Das competncias mais importantes enumerado o relacionamento interpessoal, trabalho em equipa, comunicao, capacidade de adaptao e a tolerncia ambiguidade. No final do trabalho so apresentados os resultados da investigao, bem como a sua discusso.

En el cas sota estudi, hem revisat totes les memries oficials de verificaci disponibles dels graus en enginyeria en informtica, enginyeria en telecomunicaci i multimdia amb l'objectiu d'analitzar diferents aspectes de la presncia de diferents competncies comunicatives transversals. En concret ens hem centrat en les competncies d'expressi oral i escrita en llengua prpia i estrangera (angls), en l'habilitat en les relacions interpersonals i en la capacitat de comunicar-se amb audincies expertes i profanes sobre els matries dels estudis.

Over the past 20 years, the economic landscape has changed dramatically in Spain, undergoing a growth explosion and a subsequent decline which has led to the current economic crisis. This growth has led to heavy immigration from both developed and developing countries, which provided skilled and unskilled labour. This article aims to analyze the impact of immigrant students at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, pondering the effect that the economic crisis is having and will have on this group, and evaluating the implementation of new plans of Bologna. We analyze the enrolment at the UPM and particularize to the Civil Engineering school (previous EUITOP), crossing with the effect of the economic crisis on foreign students. The exponential increase of foreign students, most of them from Latin American and born in Spain, and students of European countries that have started to register considerably from 2002 and 2003, lead us to consider a renewal in certain areas of learning, and to exploit the possibility of interaction with other countries so successful through the acquisition of transversal skills, as well as to guide and improve, support and integrate these groups at our university Keywords: knowledge, learning, Bologna, academic record

En aquest article es presenta una perspectiva del desenvolupament de la tecnologia al servei de l'ensenyament. El docent del segle XXI ha d'acomplir amb objectius cognitius, metodolgics i tecnolgics per a abastir el seu alumnat dins dels parmetres de competncia curricular, com tamb els instrumentals. La generaci que est a les nostres aules sn usuaris i gestors d'una societat en qu estan consolidant habilitats i coneixements transversals que han de formar-se a l'escola tant com ho fan a l'mbit domstic.

Descrevem-se as diversas fases do Projeto para uma Estratgia de Literacia Informacional na NOVA com vista implementao de uma estratgia transversal de literacia da informao que abrangesse todas as Unidades Orgnicas da NOVA e o modo como a sua orientao de topo, dinmica, metodologia e objetivos conduziram, posteriormente, incluso de um curso de Literacia Informacional no programa da NOVA Escola Doutoral. Realando que a implementao do curso de Literacia Informacional nesse projeto passou a constituir um dos poucos exemplos de oferta formativa e de efetiva concretizao de um projeto de interveno curricular e pedaggica ao nvel da literacia da informao no ensino superior em Portugal, promovendo a colaborao entre colegas e indo ao encontro de uma transferncia de saberes e de uma partilha de competncias abertas colaborao de doutorandos e orientadores, enunciamse os objetivos do curso de Literacia Informacional e de cada mdulo que o constitui e os resultados esperados ao nvel do ensino e da aprendizagem. Conclui-se que a diversificao dos percursos formativos em contexto universitrio, em estreita convergncia com outras aprendizagens ao nvel sociocultural, confere aos bibliotecrios a responsabilidade de desempenhar um papel ativo no ensino e na promoo e consolidao das competncias transversais dos estudantes, contribuindo a literacia da informao para o sucesso acadmico tambm ao nvel do ensino superior.

RESUMO - A profisso de enfermagem definida por Virgnia Henderson (1966), como tendo por objeto "ajudar o indivduo, saudvel ou doente, na execuo das atividades que contribuem para conservar a sua sade ou a sua recuperao, de tal maneira, devendo desempenhar esta funo no sentido de tornar o indivduo o mais independente possvel, ou seja, a alcanar a sua anterior independncia". A ateno sade ao longo da histria da humanidade vem sendo desenvolvida de muitos modos e por diversos atores sociais. O trabalho em sade essencial para a vida humana e envolve atividades realizadas por profissionais e equipas multidisciplinares que dominam os conhecimentos e tcnicas essenciais para assistir o indivduo com problemas de sade ou em risco de adoecer, em atividades de investigao, de preveno, curativo e de reabilitao. Enfermagem tal como a outras profisses, so cada vez mais exigidos requisitos de eficincia, eficcia e polivalncia na sua atividade, tendo a motivao um papel fundamental na atitude, postura e desempenho do profissional. Este trabalho descreve o estudo da motivao profissional, numa populao de enfermeiros portugueses numa instituio privada. A verso adaptada de um inqurito como instrumento de autopreenchimento representa vrios construtos implicados no processo motivacional, em contexto profissional. Pretendo com este estudo identificar a dimenso da motivao mais relevantes no processo motivacional dos enfermeiros, assim como as suas variaes face a variveis de caractersticas pessoais, profissionais e institucionais. A partir dos resultados obtidos pretendo ainda apresentar sugestes de maneira a oferecer oportunidade de transformao do seu ambiente organizacional em instituies similares.

Queremos dar a conocer el trabajo que desde nuestra Facultad planteamos a nuestros alumnos en la asignatura de habilidades sociales. A partir de la deteccin y del anlisis de sus competencias sociales, se establece un plan de trabajo con la finalidad de que mejoren sus habilidades sociales tanto a nivel personal como profesional. Partimos de una metodologa de participacin activa donde el alumno se involucra en la organizacin, el desarrollo y en la evaluacin de la asignatura. Despus de recoger los datos sobre la satisfaccin de los alumnos, consideramos que es una prctica educativa de xito por lo que presentamos esta experiencia para facilitar su difusin.

This communication is part of a larger teaching innovation project financed by the University ofBarcelona, whose objective is to develop and evaluate transversal competences of the UB, learningability and responsibility. The competence is divided into several sub-competencies being the ability toanalyze and synthesis the most intensely worked in the first year. The work presented here part fromthe results obtained in phase 1 and 2 previously implemented in other subjects (Mathematics andHistory) in the first year of the degree of Business Administration Degree. In these subjects previousexperiences there were deficiencies in the acquisition of learning skills by the students. The work inthe subject of Mathematics facilitated that students become aware of the deficit. The work on thesubject of History insisted on developing readings schemes and with the practical exercises wassought to go deeply in the development of this competence.The third phase presented here is developed in the framework of the second year degree, in the WorldEconomy subject. The objective of this phase is the development and evaluation of the same crosscompetence of the previous phases, from a practice that includes both, quantitative analysis andcritical reflection. Specifically the practice focuses on the study of the dynamic relationship betweeneconomic growth and the dynamics in the distribution of wealth. The activity design as well as theselection of materials to make it, has been directed to address gaps in the ability to analyze andsynthesize detected in the subjects of the first year in the previous phases of the project.The realization of the practical case is considered adequate methodology to improve the acquisition ofcompetence of the students, then it is also proposed how to evaluate the acquisition of suchcompetence. The practice is evaluated based on a rubric developed in the framework of the projectobjectives. Thus at the end of phase 3 we can analyze the process that have followed the students,detect where they have had major difficulties and identify those aspects of teaching that can help toimprove the acquisition of skills by the students. The interest of this phase resides in the possibility tovalue whether tracing of learning through competences, organized in a collaborative way, is a goodtool to develop the acquisition of these skills and facilitate their evaluation.

During a long time, the term competence has been used in different fields. Among those fields, and one of the most important, we can mention the educational system, from preschool to university levels. The term has to be understood as one person integral behavior, making him/her able to enter the labor force in the most competitive way. Within the university realm, experts have tried to include the model of competences as a transversal axle into the teaching-learning process. In European universities, such model has been implemented in most of them. In Latin America universities, on the other hand, it has been used in a good number of countries. The importance of early detection of competences among target populations in education has been widely discussed. However, it has been highlighted the necessity of considering romantic or subjective competences, which seem to lack of value in this complex and competitive actual world. The term competence has been classified as genetic competence, or common and specific competence. The latter is related to the knowledge scope. Within the counseling field, specifically, the general and specific competences are deemed highly appropriate for good a work performance. This article focuses on the main antecedents of competences and analyzes this approach from counseling field perspective. In regards to this specific aspect, a survey with professionals in counseling was carried out. Such a survey ends up dealing with some of the competences considered unavoidable for an accurate performance of professionals in counseling. It is important to mention that the competences of the survey mainly point out to genetic competences rather than to specific competences.
