The Cambridge Introduction to Shakespeare´s Tragedies.

Este libro es una introducción a las tragedias de Shakespeare que son: Titus Andronicus, Romeo y Julieta, Julio Cesar, Hamlet, Otelo, el timón de Atenas, King Lear, Macbeth, Antonio y Cleopatra y Coriolanus. Plantea los problemas que presenta la lectura de Shakespeare, en la actualidad, a los jóvenes lectores y ayuda a los profesores de secundaria a hacer frente a las dificultades lingüísticas de estas obras como el uso de palabras antiguas, la gramática, la retórica y la metáfora. La enseñanza de los textos de Shakespeare se realiza en el marco contextual, interpretativo y lingüístico exigido para el título del General Certificate Secondary Education (GCSE) y del A-level.

Competition and unitization in oil extraction : a tale of two tragedies

This paper compares two organizational modes for extracting oil from a common pool: unitization and competitive extraction. The analysis suggests that the general presumption that unitization is surplus enhancing relative to competitive extraction may not always be valid due to contractual incompleteness associated with unitization contracts. While competitive extraction suffers from the tragedy of the commons, unitization can be subject to the dual tragedy of the anticommons. This provides an explanation for the puzzle confronting the oil industry that firms are often reluctant to voluntarily enter unitization agreements.

The Politics of Re-(en)visioning: Contemporary British Rewritings of Greek and Roman Tragedies

This thesis examines three different kinds of socio-political rewritings of Greek and Roman tragedies – Sarah Kane’s “Phaedra’s Love”, Tony Harrison’s “Prometheus”, and Martin Crimp’s “Cruel and Tender” – written, staged or screened in Britain (and, more precisely, England) between 1996 and 2004. Offering close readings of these re-visionary appropriations, this dissertation analyses some of the innumerable and unexpected forms that ancient tragedy can assume today. In particular, it explores how three talented British authors have subverted the conventions of the noblest literary and dramatic genre in order to (re)write contemporaneity in ways that oscillate between the personal and the public, the local and the global, the national and the transnational.
