This paper presents the design and analysis of a 400-step hybrid stepper motor for spacecraft applications. The design of the hybrid stepper motor for achieving a specific performance requires the choice of appropriate tooth geometry. In this paper, a detailed account of the results of two-dimensional finite-element (FE) analysis conducted with different tooth shapes such as square and trapezoidal, is presented. The use of % more corresponding increase in detent torque and distorted static torque profile. For the requirements of maximum torque density, less-detent torque, and better positional accuracy and smooth static torque profile, different pitch slotting with equal tooth width has to be provided. From the various FE models subjected to analysis trapezoidal teeth configuration with unequal tooth pitch on the stator and rotor is found to be the best configuration and is selected for fabrication. The designed motor is fabricated and the experimental results is compared with the FE results

En este proyecto se desarrolla un sistema electrónico para variar la geometría de un motor de un monoplaza que participa en la competición Fórmula SAE. Fórmula SAE es una competición de diseño de monoplazas para estudiantes, organizado por “Society of Automotive Enginners” (SAE). Este concurso busca la innovación tecnológica de la automoción, así como que estudiantes participen en un trabajo real, en el cual el objetivo es obtener resultados competitivos cumpliendo con una serie de requisitos. La variación de la geometría de un motor en un vehículo permite mejorar el rendimiento del monoplaza consiguiendo elevar el par de potencia del motor. Cualquier mejora en del vehículo en un ámbito de competición puede resultar determinante en el desenlace de la misma. El objetivo del proyecto es realizar esta variación mediante el control de la longitud de los tubos de admisión de aire o “runners” del motor de combustión, empleando un motor lineal paso a paso. A partir de la información obtenida por sensores de revoluciones del motor de combustión y la posición del acelerador se debe controlar la distancia de dichos tubos. Integrando este sistema en el bus CAN del vehículo para que comparta la información medida al resto de módulos. Por todo esto se realiza un estudio aclarando los aspectos generales del objetivo del trabajo, para la comprensión del proyecto a realizar, las posibilidades de realización y adquisición de conocimientos para un mejor desarrollo. Se presenta una solución basada en el control del motor lineal paso a paso mediante el microcontrolador PIC32MX795F512-L. Dispositivo del fabricante Microchip con una arquitectura de 32 bits. Este dispone de un módulo CAN integrado y distintos periféricos que se emplean en la medición de los sensores y actuación sobre el motor paso a paso empleando el driver de Texas Instruments DRV8805. Entonces el trabajo se realiza en dos líneas, una parte software de programación del control del sistema, empleando el software de Microchip MPLABX IDE y otra parte hardware de diseño de una PCB y circuitos acondicionadores para la conexión del microcontrolador, con los sensores, driver, motor paso a paso y bus CAN. El software empleado para la realización de la PCB es Orcad9.2/Layout. Para la evaluación de las medidas obtenidas por los sensores y la comprobación del bus CAN se emplea el kit de desarrollo de Microchip, MCP2515 CAN Bus Monitor Demo Board, que permite ver la información en el bus CAN e introducir tramas al mismo. ABSTRACT. This project develops an electronic system to vary the geometry of a car engine which runs the Formula SAE competition. Formula SAE is a design car competition for students, organized by "Society of Automotive Engineers" (SAE). This competition seeks technological innovation in the automotive industry and brings in students to participate in a real job, in which the objective is to obtain competitive results in compliance with certain requirements. Varying engine’s geometry in a vehicle improves car’s performance raising engine output torque. Any improvement in the vehicle in a competition field can be decisive in the outcome of it. The goal of the project is the variation by controlling the length of the air intake pipe or "runners" in a combustion engine, using a linear motor step. For these, uses the information gathered by speed sensors from the combustion engine and by the throttle position to control the distance of these tubes. This system is integrated in the vehicle CAN bus to share the information with the other modules. For all this is made a study to clarify the general aspects of the project in order to understand the activities developed inside the project, the different options available and also, to acquire knowledge for a better development of the project. The solution is based on linear stepper motor control by the microcontroller PIC32MX795F512-L. Device from manufacturer Microchip with a 32-bit architecture. This module has an integrated CAN various peripherals that are used in measuring the performance of the sensors and drives the stepper motor using Texas Instruments DRV8805 driver. Then the work is done in two lines, first, control programming software system using software MPLABX Microchip IDE and, second, hardware design of a PCB and conditioning circuits for connecting the microcontroller, with sensors, driver stepper motor and CAN bus. The software used to carry out the PCB is Orcad9.2/Layout. For the evaluation of the measurements obtained by the sensors and CAN bus checking is used Microchip development kit, MCP2515 CAN Bus Monitor Demo Board, that allows you to see the information on the CAN bus and enter new frames in the bus.

Hybrid Stepper Motors are widely used in open-loop position applications. They are the choice of actuation for the collimators in the Large Hadron Collider, the largest particle accelerator at CERN. In this case the positioning requirements and the highly radioactive operating environment are unique. The latter forces both the use of long cables to connect the motors to the drives which act as transmission lines and also prevents the use of standard position sensors. However, reliable and precise operation of the collimators is critical for the machine, requiring the prevention of step loss in the motors and maintenance to be foreseen in case of mechanical degradation. In order to make the above possible, an approach is proposed for the application of an Extended Kalman Filter to a sensorless stepper motor drive, when the motor is separated from its drive by long cables. When the long cables and high frequency pulse width modulated control voltage signals are used together, the electrical signals difer greatly between the motor and drive-side of the cable. Since in the considered case only drive-side data is available, it is therefore necessary to estimate the motor-side signals. Modelling the entire cable and motor system in an Extended Kalman Filter is too computationally intensive for standard embedded real-time platforms. It is, in consequence, proposed to divide the problem into an Extended Kalman Filter, based only on the motor model, and separated motor-side signal estimators, the combination of which is less demanding computationally. The efectiveness of this approach is shown in simulation. Then its validity is experimentally demonstrated via implementation in a DSP based drive. A testbench to test its performance when driving an axis of a Large Hadron Collider collimator is presented along with the results achieved. It is shown that the proposed method is capable of achieving position and load torque estimates which allow step loss to be detected and mechanical degradation to be evaluated without the need for physical sensors. These estimation algorithms often require a precise model of the motor, but the standard electrical model used for hybrid stepper motors is limited when currents, which are high enough to produce saturation of the magnetic circuit, are present. New model extensions are proposed in order to have a more precise model of the motor independently of the current level, whilst maintaining a low computational cost. It is shown that a significant improvement in the model It is achieved with these extensions, and their computational performance is compared to study the cost of model improvement versus computation cost. The applicability of the proposed model extensions is demonstrated via their use in an Extended Kalman Filter running in real-time for closed-loop current control and mechanical state estimation. An additional problem arises from the use of stepper motors. The mechanics of the collimators can wear due to the abrupt motion and torque profiles that are applied by them when used in the standard way, i.e. stepping in open-loop. Closed-loop position control, more specifically Field Oriented Control, would allow smoother profiles, more respectful to the mechanics, to be applied but requires position feedback. As mentioned already, the use of sensors in radioactive environments is very limited for reliability reasons. Sensorless control is a known option but when the speed is very low or zero, as is the case most of the time for the motors used in the LHC collimator, the loss of observability prevents its use. In order to allow the use of position sensors without reducing the long term reliability of the whole system, the possibility to switch from closed to open loop is proposed and validated, allowing the use of closed-loop control when the position sensors function correctly and open-loop when there is a sensor failure. A different approach to deal with the switched drive working with long cables is also presented. Switched mode stepper motor drives tend to have poor performance or even fail completely when the motor is fed through a long cable due to the high oscillations in the drive-side current. The design of a stepper motor output fillter which solves this problem is thus proposed. A two stage filter, one devoted to dealing with the diferential mode and the other with the common mode, is designed and validated experimentally. With this ?lter the drive performance is greatly improved, achieving a positioning repeatability even better than with the drive working without a long cable, the radiated emissions are reduced and the overvoltages at the motor terminals are eliminated.

The integration of a microprocessor and a medium power stepper motor in one control system brings together two quite different disciplines. Various methods of interfacing are examined and the problems involved in both hardware and software manipulation are investigated. Microprocessor open-loop control of the stepper motor is considered. The possible advantages of microprocessor closed-loop control are examined and the development of a system is detailed. The system uses position feedback to initiate each motor step. Results of the dynamic response of the system are presented and its performance discussed. Applications of the static torque characteristic of the stepper motor are considered followed by a review of methods of predicting the characteristic. This shows that accurate results are possible only when the effects of magnetic saturation are avoided or when the machine is available for magnetic circuit tests to be carried out. A new method of predicting the static torque characteristic is explained in detail. The method described uses the machine geometry and the magnetic characteristics of the iron types used in the machine. From this information the permeance of each iron component of the machine is calculated and by using the equivalent magnetic circuit of the machine, the total torque produced is predicted. It is shown how this new method is implemented on a digital computer and how the model may be used to investigate further aspects of the stepper motor in addition to the static torque.

We modified the noninvasive, in vivo technique for strain application in the tibiae of rats (Turner et al,, Bone 12:73-79, 1991), The original model applies four-point bending to right tibiae via an open-loop, stepper-motor-driven spring linkage, Depending on the magnitude of applied load, the model produces new bone formation at periosteal (Ps) or endocortical surfaces (Ec.S). Due to the spring linkage, however, the range of frequencies at which loads can be applied is limited. The modified system replaces this design with an electromagnetic vibrator. A load transducer in series with the loading points allows calibration, the loaders' position to be adjusted, and cyclic loading completed under load central as a closed servo-loop. Two experiments were conducted to validate the modified system: (1) a strain gauge was applied to the lateral surface of the right tibia of 5 adult female rats and strains measured at applied loads from 10 to 60 N; and (2) the bone formation response was determined in 28 adult female Sprague-Dawley rats. Loading was applied as a haversine wave with a frequency of 2 Hz for 18 sec, every second day for 10 days. Peak bending loads mere applied at 33, 40, 52, and 64 N, and a sham-loading group tr as included at 64 N, Strains in the tibiae were linear between 10 and 60 N, and the average peak strain at the Ps.S at 60 N was 2664 +/- 250 microstrain, consistent with the results of Turner's group. Lamellar bone formation was stimulated at the Ec.S by applied bending, but not by sham loading. Bending strains above a loading threshold of 40 N increased Ec Lamellar hone formation rate, bone forming surface, and mineral apposition rate with a dose response similar to that reported by Turner et al, (J Bone Miner Res 9:87-97, 1994). We conclude that the modified loading system offers precision for applied loads of between 0 and 70 N, versatility in the selection of loading rates up to 20 Hz, and a reproducible bone formation response in the rat tibia, Adjustment of the loader also enables study of mechanical usage in murine tibia, an advantage with respect to the increasing variety of transgenic strains available in bone and mineral research. The Mechatronics Research Centre (MRC) owns a small scale robot manipulator called aMini-Mover 5. This robot arm is a microprocessor-controlled, six-jointed mechanical armdesigned to provide an unusual combination of dexterity and low cost.The Mini-Mover-5 is operated by a number of stepper motors and is controlled by a PCparallel port via a discrete logic board. The manipulator also has an impoverished array ofsensors.This project requires that a new control board and suitable software be designed to allow themanipulator to be controlled from a PC. The control board will also provide a mechanism forthe values measured using some sensors to be returned to the PC.On this project I will consider: stepper motor control requirements, sensor technologies,power requirements, USB protocols, USB hardware and software development and controlrequirements (e.g. sample rates).In this report we will have a look at robots history and background, as well as we willconcentrate how stepper motors and parallel port work

Tämän työn tavoitteena oli suunnitella ja rakentaa vaihtokenttämagnetometri, jolla voidaan tutkia näytteen magneettisia ominaisuuksia eri lämpötiloissa ja eri taajuuksilla. Menetelmänä käytettiin keskinäisinduktiotekniikkaa, joka on hyvin yleinen tapa tutkia aineen magneettista suskeptibiliteettiä. Magnetometriä ohjataan LabVIEW:lla tehdyllä käyttöliittymällä, joka suunniteltiin yksinkertaiseksi ja helpoksi käyttää. Ohjelma sisältää ohjeet, jotka auttavat parametrien ja toimintojen valinnoissa. LabVIEW:lla ohjataan askelmoottoria, näytteen lämmitintä, lämpötilan mittausta ja lukitusvahvistinta, jolta mittaustulokset saadaan. Laitteen testauksessa käytettiin korkean lämpötilan suprajohdetta YBa2Cu3O6+x, koska sillä saadaan aikaan suurisignaali. Mittaukset tehtiin nestemäisen typen lämpötilassa kahdella eri taajuuden arvolla. Laite antoi oikeanlaisen signaalin ulos eli todettiin laitteen toimivan. Laite toimii hyvin korkeammilla taajuuksilla. Mentäessä hyvin matalille taajuuksille, lukitusvahvistin ei pystynyt lukittumaan, eikä siis siten antanut oikeanlaisia tuloksia.

Työssä suunnitellaan kierrosnopeusmittauksen toteutus vanhaan Ford -teollisuusdieseliin käyttäen moottorin alkuperäistä kierrosnopeusanturia. Anturi kunnostetaan vaihtamalla vanha, palanut käämi uuteen digitaaliseen järjestelmään soveltuvaan käämiin. Sen toimin-ta halutulla kierrosnopeusalueella varmistetaan mittauksin ja tämän perusteella suunnitel-laan kytkentä sen liittämiseksi kierrosnopeuden laskevaan mikrokontrolleriin. Kytkennän toimivuutta testataan simuloimalla ennen prototyypin rakentamista. Erilaisia vaihtoehtoja analogisen näytön toteuttamiseksi tutkitaan ja niistä valitaan yksi ve-nekäyttöön soveltuva, joka toteutetaan järjestelmän näyttöratkaisuksi. Järjestelmälle suunnitellaan piirilevy, jolle prototyyppi kasataan. Mikrokontrollerille koodataan C -ohjelmointikielellä ohjelma, joka laskee dieselmoottorin kierrosnopeuden anturipulssien perusteella ja ohjaa näyttöä.

The aim of this study was to develop a an automated bench top electronic penetrometer (ABEP) that allows performing tests with high rate of data acquisition (up to 19,600 Hz) and with variation of the displacement velocity and of the base area of cone penetration. The mechanical components of the ABEP are: a supporting structure, stepper motor, velocity reducer, double nut ball screw and six penetration probes. The electronic components of ABEP are: a "driver" to control rotation and displacement, power supply, three load cells, two software programs for running and storing data, and a data acquisition module. This penetrometer presented in compact size, portable and in 32 validation tests it proved easy to operate, and showed high resolution, high velocity in reliability in data collection. During the validation tests the equipment met the objectives, because the test results showed that the ABEP could use different sizes of cones, allowed work at different velocities, showed for velocity and displacement, were only 1.3% and 0.7%, respectively, at the highest velocity (30 mm s-1) and 1% and 0.9%, respectively for the lowest velocity (0.1 mm s-1).

A Modelagem Eletromagnética Analógica tem sido uma poderosa ferramenta no estudo das respostas eletromagnéticas de uma grande variedade das técnicas de levantamentos e de modelos geológicos. Nas aplicações de métodos eletromagnéticos nas investigações de contaminação no subsolo, recentemente em grande demanda, são obtidas anomalias muito baixas (da ordem de 0,01% do campo primário). Com o objetivo de estudar em laboratório os problemas de levantamentos eletromagnéticos para alvos de baixo número de indução, um conjunto de modelagem em escala reduzida de alta sensibilidade, foi projetado e construído. Este conjunto opera na faixa de freqüência de 1 kHz até 1 MHz com excelente linearidade. O transdutor de transmissão gera suficiente densidade de fluxo magnético com corrente de até 3 App (pico a pico) circulando nele. O sistema de recepção, isto é, o conjunto de bobinas receptoras mais o pré-amplificador acoplado apresenta sensibilidade 3 V/A/m na freqüência de 10 kHz com inclinação de 20 dB/dec de freqüência. A alta sensibilidade do sistema de recepção combinada com a boa capacidade de geração do sistema transmissor, permite alcançar a resolução de 0,025% do campo primário. O conjunto dispõe ainda, de um sistema mecânico que permite posicionar o sistema de transdutores (transmissor e receptor) em posições arbitrárias com resolução de 1 mm e precisão de 0,05 mm. A precisão no deslocamento linear do sistema de sonda numa linha de 1715 mm de comprimento é alcançada por meio de um motor de passo controlado por um microcontrolador, que é rigidamente acoplado a um fuso que converte o movimento angular do motor em movimento linear. Com este conjunto, é possível simular uma grande variedade de técnicas de levantamentos eletromagnéticos no formato Slingram, isto é, dipolo-dipolo. Além da boa resolução mecânica e boa resolução de medida eletromagnética do conjunto, todo o processo de controle e aquisição de dados é operacionalizado por meio de um computador mestre.

Variable rate sprinklers (VRS) have been developed to promote localized water application of irrigated areas. In Precision Irrigation, VRS permits better control of flow adjustment and, at the same time, provides satisfactory radial distribution profiles for various pressures and flow rates are really necessary. The objective of this work was to evaluate the performance and radial distribution profiles of a developed VRS which varies the nozzle cross sectional area by moving a pin in or out using a stepper motor. Field tests were performed under different conditions of service pressure, rotation angles imposed on the pin and flow rate which resulted in maximal water throw radiuses ranging from 7.30 to 10.38 m. In the experiments in which the service pressure remained constant, the maximal throw radius varied from 7.96 to 8.91 m. Averages were used of repetitions performed under conditions without wind or with winds less than 1.3 m s-1. The VRS with the four stream deflector resulted in greater water application throw radius compared to the six stream deflector. However, the six stream deflector had greater precipitation intensities, as well as better distribution. Thus, selection of the deflector to be utilized should be based on project requirements, respecting the difference in the obtained results. With a small opening of the nozzle, the VRS produced small water droplets that visually presented applicability for foliar chemigation. Regarding the comparison between the estimated and observed flow rates, the stepper motor produced excellent results.

Atmosphärische Aerosolpartikel wirken in vielerlei Hinsicht auf die Menschen und die Umwelt ein. Eine genaue Charakterisierung der Partikel hilft deren Wirken zu verstehen und dessen Folgen einzuschätzen. Partikel können hinsichtlich ihrer Größe, ihrer Form und ihrer chemischen Zusammensetzung charakterisiert werden. Mit der Laserablationsmassenspektrometrie ist es möglich die Größe und die chemische Zusammensetzung einzelner Aerosolpartikel zu bestimmen. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurde das SPLAT (Single Particle Laser Ablation Time-of-flight mass spectrometer) zur besseren Analyse insbesondere von atmosphärischen Aerosolpartikeln weiterentwickelt. Der Aerosoleinlass wurde dahingehend optimiert, einen möglichst weiten Partikelgrößenbereich (80 nm - 3 µm) in das SPLAT zu transferieren und zu einem feinen Strahl zu bündeln. Eine neue Beschreibung für die Beziehung der Partikelgröße zu ihrer Geschwindigkeit im Vakuum wurde gefunden. Die Justage des Einlasses wurde mithilfe von Schrittmotoren automatisiert. Die optische Detektion der Partikel wurde so verbessert, dass Partikel mit einer Größe < 100 nm erfasst werden können. Aufbauend auf der optischen Detektion und der automatischen Verkippung des Einlasses wurde eine neue Methode zur Charakterisierung des Partikelstrahls entwickelt. Die Steuerelektronik des SPLAT wurde verbessert, so dass die maximale Analysefrequenz nur durch den Ablationslaser begrenzt wird, der höchsten mit etwa 10 Hz ablatieren kann. Durch eine Optimierung des Vakuumsystems wurde der Ionenverlust im Massenspektrometer um den Faktor 4 verringert.rnrnNeben den hardwareseitigen Weiterentwicklungen des SPLAT bestand ein Großteil dieser Arbeit in der Konzipierung und Implementierung einer Softwarelösung zur Analyse der mit dem SPLAT gewonnenen Rohdaten. CRISP (Concise Retrieval of Information from Single Particles) ist ein auf IGOR PRO (Wavemetrics, USA) aufbauendes Softwarepaket, das die effiziente Auswertung der Einzelpartikel Rohdaten erlaubt. CRISP enthält einen neu entwickelten Algorithmus zur automatischen Massenkalibration jedes einzelnen Massenspektrums, inklusive der Unterdrückung von Rauschen und von Problemen mit Signalen die ein intensives Tailing aufweisen. CRISP stellt Methoden zur automatischen Klassifizierung der Partikel zur Verfügung. Implementiert sind k-means, fuzzy-c-means und eine Form der hierarchischen Einteilung auf Basis eines minimal aufspannenden Baumes. CRISP bietet die Möglichkeit die Daten vorzubehandeln, damit die automatische Einteilung der Partikel schneller abläuft und die Ergebnisse eine höhere Qualität aufweisen. Daneben kann CRISP auf einfache Art und Weise Partikel anhand vorgebener Kriterien sortieren. Die CRISP zugrundeliegende Daten- und Infrastruktur wurde in Hinblick auf Wartung und Erweiterbarkeit erstellt. rnrnIm Rahmen der Arbeit wurde das SPLAT in mehreren Kampagnen erfolgreich eingesetzt und die Fähigkeiten von CRISP konnten anhand der gewonnen Datensätze gezeigt werden.rnrnDas SPLAT ist nun in der Lage effizient im Feldeinsatz zur Charakterisierung des atmosphärischen Aerosols betrieben zu werden, während CRISP eine schnelle und gezielte Auswertung der Daten ermöglicht.

Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde ein schnelles, piezobasiertes Frequenztuningsystem für aktuelle sowie zukünftige supraleitende (sl) CH-Kavitäten entwickelt. Die Grundlage des hierbei verwendeten Tuningkonzepts unterscheidet sich von bisherigen, konventionellen Tuningmethoden supraleitender Kavitäten grundlegend. Zum Ausgleichen von unerwünschten Frequenzverstimmungen während des Beschleunigerbetriebes werden sogenannte bewegliche Balgtuner in das Innere der Resonatorgeometrie geschweißt. Aufgrund ihrer variablen Länge können diese die Kapazität der Kavität und somit die Resonanzfrequenz gezielt beeinflussen. Die Antriebsmechanik, die für die Auslenkung bzw. Stauchung der Balgtuner sorgt, besteht aus einer langsamen, schrittmotorbetriebenen und einer schnellen, piezobasierten Tuningeinheit, welche auf der Außenseite des Heliummantels der jeweiligen CH-Kavität installiert wird. Zur Überprüfung dieses neuartigen Tuningkonzepts wurde in der Werkstatt des Instituts für Angewandte Physik (IAP) der Goethe Universität Frankfurt ein Prototyp der gesamten Tuningeinheit aus Edelstahl gefertigt. Die Funktionsweise der langsamen sowie schnellen Tuningeinheit konnten hierbei in ersten Messungen bei Raumtemperatur erfolgreich getestet werden. Somit stellt die in dieser Arbeit entwickelte Tuningeinheit eine vielversprechende Möglichkeit des dynamischen Frequenztunings supraleitender CH-Strukturen dar. rnDes Weiteren wurden im Rahmen der Arbeit mit Hilfe der Simulationsprogramme ANSYS Workbench sowie CST MicroWave Studio gekoppelte strukturmechanische und elektromagnetische Simulationen der sl 217 MHz CH sowie der sl 325 MHz CH-Kavität durchgeführt. Hierbei konnte zum einen der Frequenzbereich und somit der notwendige mechanische Hub der jeweiligen Tuningeinheit durch Bestimmung der Frequenzverstimmungen signifikant reduziert werden. Zum anderen war es möglich, die mechanische Stabilität der beiden Kavitäten zu untersuchen und somit plastische Deformationen von vornherein auszuschließen. Zur Überprüfung der Genauigkeit sämtlicher getätigter Simulationsrechnungen wurde das strukturmechanische Verhalten in Abhängigkeit äußerer Einflüsse und die daraus resultierenden Frequenzverstimmungen der CH-Kavitäten sowohl bei Raumtemperatur als auch bei kryogenen Temperaturen von 4.2 K gemessen. Hierbei zeigten sich zum Teil hervorragende Übereinstimmungen zwischen den simulierten und gemessenen Werten mit Diskrepanzen von unter 10%. The use of ion microbeams as probes for computedtomography has proven to be a powerful tool for the three-dimensional characterization of specimens a few tens of micrometers in size. Compared to other types of probes, the main advantage is that quantitative information about mass density and composition can be obtained directly, using specific reconstruction codes. At the Centre d’Etudes Nucléaires de Bordeaux Gradignan (CENBG), this technique was initially developed for applications in cellular biology. However, the observation of the cell ultrastructure requires a sub-micron resolution. The construction of the nanobeamline at the Applications Interdisciplinaires des Faisceaux d’Ions en Region Aquitaine (AIFIRA) irradiation facility has opened new perspectives for such applications. The implementation of computedtomography on the nanobeamline of CENBG has required a careful design of the analysis chamber, especially microscopes for precise sample visualization, and detectors for scanning transmission ion microscopy (STIM) and for particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE). The sample can be precisely positioned in the three directions X, Y, Z and a stepper motor coupled to a goniometer ensures the rotational motion. First images of 3D tomography were obtained on a reference sample containing microspheres of certified diameter, showing the good stability of the beam and the sample stage, and the precision of the motion.
