Brazilian Law n° 9.615 of 24 March, 1998 established new paradigms in the employment relations existent between the soccer athlete and the sport association, both of whom are accustomed to the former legislation. They do not seem to have organized themselves in the sense of understanding the practical effects of the legal precepts currently in force, raising doubts that hinder the professional practice of the former and the performance of the latter in relation to managing these human resources. The purpose of this study is to analyze the degree of knowledge displayed by the professional soccer athlete about the legal recourses at his disposal in relation to the employment relations established in his work contract, as well as investigating the stress habits and stress situations that he most often experiences. This descriptive study consisted of a sample of 105 players under contract with clubs participating in the final phase of the state soccer championship. A questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument, whose analysis allows us to verify the lack of knowledge, on the part of the subjects studied, about the laws that regulate their profession, as well as identifying the stress habits and stress situations that are most reflected in their lifestyle. The lack of knowedge of regulate norms of their profession influences, in a negative way, in the lifestyle of soccer professional athlete from Rio Grande do Norte, Brasil

Currently one of the major concerns in sports is to identify, select, discover and reveal talents in soccer. As principal reasons is perceived the search direct or indirect for resources for players, clubs, media, sports brands and their sponsors. However, high salaries are an exception and not a rule, because the majority of professional players in Brazil receives 1 minimum salary per month. It is also known that on professional clubs, daily, arriving several players to try to be a professional soccer player, however, the majority of clubs - almost all does not present methodological, systematic and analytical aspects to select promising players. The selective processes ("sieves" or "big sieves") developed by technical observers ( olheiros") summarized in the observation of the sportive performance of a big group of players in a period of few minutes given to each player. In this period the target behavior is the ability with the ball. If promising players are identified on that selection, they are referred to the club for a new observation, which will be conducted by the responsible coach of base category in question. It is understood by base categories, the amateur categories (not professional), to serve as a "base" for the formation of the cast of professional clubs. What are sub-13 (under 13 years), sub-15 (under 15 years), sub-17 (under 17 years) and sub-20 (under 20 years). The absence of common criterias and performance indicators of these professionals may hamper the evaluation of promising players, and be a costly activity for the club. This study proposes to identify, characterize and categorize the criterias and methods of behavioral evaluation, used by coaches of base categories of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) to evaluate the sportive performance of young soccer players, with the purpose of to compare the criterias of evaluation of sportive performance of young soccer players, used by coaches with different time of experience in function. The proposal had 2 pilot studies, the first (June and July, 2007) were interviewed 29 coaches, 17 of category sub-13 and 12 of category sub-17. The data were tabulated and organized into spreadsheets in order to describe, and developed a set of descriptors of behavior. And the second (May and June, 2008), with revisions made based on observations, analysis and descriptions found in the first, were interviewed 14 technical of category sub-15. After the results found in pilots, it was possible to outline the study in question, which had 46 coaches base categories of the RN. And from the results show that the characteristic of greatest importance, according to the interviewees was the behavior, the 2nd most important characteristic considered was the motivation, the 3rd was the ability and the 4th was the physical condition and the last was the affiliation. And by analyzing the results to the methods of evaluation of sportive performance used by coaches, it was noted clearly that most uses only the observation to select young soccer players. Therefore, needs a systematization to the selection of soccer players, since there is complexity in the verification of characteristics and aspects involved with purpose to avoid wrong evaluations and selections and the results negligible

The aim of this study was to verify the effect of selective loads model in professional futsal players, during a preparatory mesocycle. Nine futsal professional players (23±2 anos), from the team of Federation Paulista of soccer indoor championship, composed the sample, characterized by intentional. The players were evaluated in two moments although of a preparatory mesocycle, microcycle 2 (PRE) and microcycle 7 (POS), by the tests of intermittent aerobic fitness, horizontal jump, one leg triple jump, velocity of 15m, agility and anaerobic power. The statistical analysis included the Student-t and Wilxocon tests (P<0.05). The results of horizontal jump, intermittent aerobic fitness and medium power improved, the velocity at 15 m decreased. The select loads model is a good option for the periodization to preparatory mesocycle in futsal.

There is little information on Caribbean soccer players. Thus, the aim this study was to descriptive and to compare the anthropometric, motor and aerobic fitness profile between Trinidad and Tobago team professional and junior soccer players. Twenty six soccer players were evaluated (14 professional and 12 junior): anthropometric (height, body mass, BMI, body fat percent), flexibility (sit and reach), velocity (30 m), explosive strength (horizontal and vertical jump), anaerobic power (maximum, mean and minimum power, index of fatigue) and maximum aerobic power. Student Test-t to independent sample was used in statistical analyzes, considering 5% of significance (p<0,05). Results of professional and junior players were, respectively: height (180,6 ± 8,1; 175,0 ± 6,9 cm), body mass (77,1 ± 7,5; 70,6 ± 8,7 kg); BMI (23,6 ± 1,5 / 23,0 ± 1,6 kgm 2 ); body fat (11,9 ± 1,7; 11,6 ± 1,2 %); sitting and reaching (24,9 ± 10,3; 24,9 ± 7,7 cm); velocity (30 m) (4,61 ± 0,14; 4,66 ± 0,15 s); horizontal jump (263,4 ± 14,9; 239,7 ± 12,1 cm); vertical jump (58,7 ± 4,3; 54,6 ± 6,6 cm); maximum power (7,9 ± 0,9; 6,6 ± 0,8 w∙kg-1 ); mean power (6,5 ± 0,7; 5,4 ± 0,9 w∙kg-1 ); minimum power (5,3 ± 0,7; 4,3 ± 1,1 w∙kg-1 ); index of fatigue (33,0 ± 7,9; 34,8 ± 12,8 %); aerobic power (55,0 ± 3,2; 57,2 ± 4,8 ml∙kg-1 ∙min-1 ). Professional players presented higher horizontal jump and maximum, mean and minimum anaerobic power in comparing to the junior players. The highest values of power tests for the lower limbs may be relationship to the longer time of practice in the modality of professional players, which can also indicate a higher level of specialization, which gives priority to the training of power (force and velocity).

ABSTRACT They have been many studies on soccer, but few with professional players evaluating them during two consecutive seasons. The purpose of this study was to investigate seasonal variations in fitness parameters as body composition, speed, strength and stamina in top and medium class professional soccer players during a hole season. Methods: 20 Top Class male (CA) and 21 Medium Class male (CM) soccer players were evaluated during a season in three different periods. The first one at half preseason (M1), second one at the middle of the competitive period (M2) and last one at the end of the season (M3). 16 players from group CA and 8 from group CM were registered from two seasons in a row, doing a total of 6 evaluation periods. In each evaluation period was measured body height (TA), body mass (PC), skinfolds sum (ZP), body mass index (IMC), acceleration on 5 (T5) y 20 (T20) meters, countermovement jump (CMJ), free arms countermovement jump (ABA), anaerobic threshold speed (VUAN), average power strength weight (PPM) and average power (PMW) on half squat. Results: significant decrease on ZP were found in group CA from M1 (45,28±8,98) to M2 (40,57±5,89) and a significant increase on VUAN from M1 (12,49±0,67) to M2 (12,93±0,62) and M3 (12,93±0,44). Also a significant decrease was found in group CA on (T5) from M1 (1,04±0,06) to M2 (0,99±0,04) and M3 (1,00±0,04). PPM was significantly higher from M2 (94±13,74) to M1 (82±13,64) as PMW from M1 (1642,87±207,05) to M2 (1735,07±168,01) in CA group and also was found a significant increase in group CM on PPM from M1 (70,67±10,74) to M2 (80,50±13,20) and on PMW from M1 (1574,90±205,66) to M2 (1642,87±207,05). Conclusions: Some of the fitness parameters did suffer seasonal variations. The most important changes took place from the middle of the preseason period until middle of the competitive period, remaining unchanged from middle of the competitive period until the end of the season.

This study investigated compound spatial and temporal measures of interpersonal interactions purported to constrain the emergence of affordances for passing direction in the team sport of futsal. For this purpose, attacker–defender interactions in 37 sequences of play from a futsal competition in which 24 male professional players participated (M=30.04 years, SD=4.10) were filmed and analysed using TACTO software. Relative angle data were used as measures to study coordination tendencies that emerged between players during performance. Results showed that the direction for a pass emerged from relative angles between: (1) the vector from a ball carrier to ball receiver and the vector from the ball carrier to the nearest defender (70°) (p<0.01) and (2) the vector from a ball carrier to ball receiver and the vector from the ball carrier to a ball receiver's nearest defender (31°) (p < 0.01). Furthermore, passing direction was also constrained by temporal information from the emergence of both angles, since the pass was performed to attacker–defender dyads with the highest velocities of these angles (p < 0.05). Results suggested that decisions on selecting the direction of a pass in the team sport of futsal emerged at critical values of these key compound motion measures.

ABSTRACT: The Clube Atlético e Cultural (C.A.C.), although relatively recent, is recognized as a reference club in youths training in the Lisbon area. The peak recognition and more “showcase” training ins undoubtedly the Torneio Internacional da Pontinha (Under-13), which is host to games during four days among the biggest national clubs, as well as some world-renowned clubs. As proof thereof, if we look at some elite professional players, have in their educational path C.A.C. represented as an institution. The report that presents itself, appears in the stage of Master of Sports Training and intends to disclose all the decisions, actions and thoughts behind the Sports Training of young players. The report is structured from general to particular, being divided into three types of planning: (1) Conceptual Planning - which includes an analysis on the club in question, its context, its resources and various constraints. It also includes a previous study of past situations like earlier seasons, as well as the formation of the team and its players, according to the objectives and commitments outlined in the beginning of the season. Also includes the preparation of all pre-competition period and the use of means of observation and analysis aimed at improving the entire process of planning the training. (2) Strategic Planning - This provides all the activities that concern the competitive period of the team, such as collecting information both from our team as well as opponents, anticipating the degree of difficulty of our adversaries, the more operational planning (microcycles) and the choice of strategies depending on different opponents and finally the necessary reflections between the various actors in the process. (3) Tactical Planning - Finally this type of planning includes all actions, decisions and reactions in the moments before, during and even after the game. To resume, the report seeks to expose all the preparation of the team throughout a sports season, by the perspective of the functions of a head coach.

ABSTRACT The development of sport psychology and its insertion in football, requires a thorough and rigorous work on major aspects of their intervention. The sports psychologist applied to professional football should launch many optimal working models in daily practice must be modified to find optimal solutions to every situation that is presented. The purpose of this research was to design and implement a comprehensive program of psychological intervention in a professional football team from the professional practice of a sports psychologist. To this end, we used qualitative methodology. For data collection was done using observation, interviews, tests and field notes. For data analysis has been used both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. Participants included 41 professional players who formed the first group of the A.D. Alcorcon, a team that participated in the 2nd Division "A" Professional Football League of Spain in 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2012- 2013 seasons, aged between 22 and 33 years (M = 28.45, SD = 2.91), 20 and 34 years (M = 28.57, SD = 3.41) and 21 and 36 years (M = 27.29, SD = 4.55) respectively. Also participating: seven members of the coaching staff, 6 medical staff members and 18 members of the "other factors" (sport director, technical secretary, managers, workers, etc.). The results showed that goal setting, leadership and cohesion among members of the workforce are key aspects to consider when working on a professional football team. Furthermore, significant differences (p <.01) expectations regarding the performance success and the moods are not predictors of performance. It is concluded, that this way of working (with all members involved in the team) can contribute important elements of intervention, which can help the search for a better performance of the team and that leads to the obtaining of optimal results, in this activity as complex as it is football.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The determination of the carbon isotope ratio in androgen metabolites has been previously shown to be a reliable, direct method to detect testosterone misuse in the context of antidoping testing. Here, the variability in the 13C/12C ratios in urinary steroids in a widely heterogeneous cohort of professional soccer players residing in different countries (Argentina, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Switzerland and Uganda) is examined. METHODS: Carbon isotope ratios of selected androgens in urine specimens were determined using gas chromatography/combustion/isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC-C-IRMS). RESULTS: Urinary steroids in Italian and Swiss populations were found to be enriched in 13C relative to other groups, reflecting higher consumption of C3 plants in these two countries. Importantly, detection criteria based on the difference in the carbon isotope ratio of androsterone and pregnanediol for each population were found to be well below the established threshold value for positive cases. CONCLUSIONS: The results obtained with the tested diet groups highlight the importance of adapting the criteria if one wishes to increase the sensitivity of exogenous testosterone detection. In addition, confirmatory tests might be rendered more efficient by combining isotope ratio mass spectrometry with refined interpretation criteria for positivity and subject-based profiling of steroids.
