Esta pesquisa busca uma análise e compreensão do(s) sentido(s) da presença dos recursos digitais na escola e da tecnologia no campo educacional. Para tanto, define como objeto de estudo o Programa Nacional de Tecnologia Educacional (Proinfo) e como campo empírico a rede municipal de Nova Iguaçu. Apoiada na metodologia da análise de conteúdo (AC), faz uma abordagem das diretrizes que orientam esse Programa do Ministério da Educação (MEC) e busca capturar os aspectos da condução da política pelos gestores municipais, revelando as concepções que orientam essas ações. Dão sustentação teórica a este estudo os conceitos de formação cultural/semiformação, de Adorno, e o conceito de tecnologia, construído, fundamentalmente, a partir das ideias de Adorno, Horkheimer e Marcuse. Nossas observações e análise indicam que a introdução das Tecnologias Digitais da Informação e Comunicação (TDIC) nas escolas surge, essencialmente, para responder à demanda do setor produtivo e não para estruturar novas dinâmicas e novos processos educacionais. Sendo assim, o Proinfo se apresenta como mais uma reforma pedagógica isolada e tem servido para reforçar a crise da formação cultural. Seus rumos precisam ser corrigidos para que se afigure como possibilidade de autorreflexão crítica e como a base potencial da emancipação dos sujeitos.

This paper aims at showing the relationship between semi-formation by Adorno and the paranoia in the field of knowledge. According to Adorno, the emancipation is oriented by the dialectical criticism of the semi-formation and the para noia in knowledge. A critical analysis of Adorno's concepts of the semi-formation in knowledge is presented. This critical analysis is inserted in the critical context of the cur rently hegemonic epistemological ideas in the field of studies on education and knowl edge. In this category of knowledge considered through the educational perspective, the instrumental reason is concretely questioned in its restrictive form of knowledge. Thus, it is possible to show some issues about contemporary education matters discussed under the perspective of the thoughts of Adorno.

A phase field modelling approach is implemented in the present study towards simulation of microstructure evolution during cooling slope semi solid slurry generation process of A380 Aluminium alloy. First, experiments are performed to evaluate the number of seeds required within the simulation domain to simulate near spherical microstructure formation, occurs during cooling slope processing of the melt. Subsequently, microstructure evolution is studied employing a phase field method. Simulations are performed to understand the effect of cooling rate on the slurry microstructure. Encouraging results are obtained from the simulation studies which are validated by experimental observations. The results obtained from mesoscopic phase field simulations are grain size, grain density, degree of sphericity of the evolving primary Al phase and the amount of solid fraction present within the slurry at different time frames. Effect of grain refinement also has been studied with an aim of improving the slurry microstructure further. Insight into the process has been obtained from the numerical findings, which are found to be useful for process control.

The microstructure of an austenitic SS 304L rapidly quenched from its semi-solid state shows a unique annular austenitic ring in between the core of each globule and its ferritic outer layer. On the basis of experimental results and microstructural analysis, it is proposed that the ring is formed as a result of preferential austenitic phase nucleation in a small quantity of liquid entrapped between adjacent solid globules during rapid quenching, in spite of the fact that ferrite is the thermodynamically stable phase for the alloy. Fe-doped semi-insulating (SI) InP has become semi-conducting (SC) material completely after annealing at 900 V for 10 hours. Defects in the SC and SI InP materials have been studied by deep level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) and thermally stimulated current spectroscopy (TSC) respectively. The DLTS only detected Fe acceptor related deep level defect with significant concentration, suggesting the formation of a high concentration of shallow donor in the SC-InP TSC results confirmed the nonexistence of deep level defects in the annealed SI-InP. The results demonstrate a significant influence of the thermally induced defects on the electrical properties of SI-InP. The formation mechanism and the nature of the shallow donor defect have been discussed based on the results.

The aim of this study was to investigate the neural correlates of operant conditioning in a semi-intact preparation of the pond snail, Lymnaea stagnalis. Lymnaea learns, via operant conditioning, to reduce its aerial respiratory behaviour in response to an aversive tactile stimulus to its open pneumostome. This thesis demonstrates the successful conditioning of na'ive semiintact preparations to show learning in the dish. Furthermore, these conditioned preparations show long-term memory that persists for at least 18 hours. As the neurons that generate this behaviour have been previously identified I can, for the first time, monitor neural activity during both learning and long-term memory consolidation in the same preparation. In particular, I record from the respiratory neuron Right Pedal Dorsal 1 (RPeD 1) which is part of the respiratory central pattern generator. In this study, I demonstrate that preventing RPeDl impulse activity between training sessions reduces the number of sessions needed to produce long-term memory in the present semi-intact preparation.

Context. Planet formation models have been developed during the past years to try to reproduce what has been observed of both the solar system and the extrasolar planets. Some of these models have partially succeeded, but they focus on massive planets and, for the sake of simplicity, exclude planets belonging to planetary systems. However, more and more planets are now found in planetary systems. This tendency, which is a result of radial velocity, transit, and direct imaging surveys, seems to be even more pronounced for low-mass planets. These new observations require improving planet formation models, including new physics, and considering the formation of systems. Aims: In a recent series of papers, we have presented some improvements in the physics of our models, focussing in particular on the internal structure of forming planets, and on the computation of the excitation state of planetesimals and their resulting accretion rate. In this paper, we focus on the concurrent effect of the formation of more than one planet in the same protoplanetary disc and show the effect, in terms of architecture and composition of this multiplicity. Methods: We used an N-body calculation including collision detection to compute the orbital evolution of a planetary system. Moreover, we describe the effect of competition for accretion of gas and solids, as well as the effect of gravitational interactions between planets. Results: We show that the masses and semi-major axes of planets are modified by both the effect of competition and gravitational interactions. We also present the effect of the assumed number of forming planets in the same system (a free parameter of the model), as well as the effect of the inclination and eccentricity damping. We find that the fraction of ejected planets increases from nearly 0 to 8% as we change the number of embryos we seed the system with from 2 to 20 planetary embryos. Moreover, our calculations show that, when considering planets more massive than ~5 M⊕, simulations with 10 or 20 planetary embryos statistically give the same results in terms of mass function and period distribution.
