¿Régimen del terror o aceptación pasiva?: cultura política nicaragüense durante el régimen de los Somoza (1936 – 1979)

Esta monografía busca explicar la incidencia de la cultura política nicaragüense en el mantenimiento del régimen de los Somoza (1936 – 1979). Se explorará la incidencia de la cultura política nicaragüense en el régimen autoritario tradicional de los Somoza a través de las orientaciones cognitivas, afectivas y evaluativas de la población, que permitieron el mantenimiento y una relativa estabilidad y duración de aquél en Nicaragua. Se comprenderá el régimen somocista como un régimen autoritario tradicional. Posteriormente, siguiendo los postulados de Gabriel Almond y Sidney Verba, se identificará los principales elementos de la cultura política nicaragüense durante el régimen de los Somoza y por último, se explicará cómo incidió la cultura política en la aceptación pasiva del régimen, el uso del terror como una herramienta de estabilización y la ausencia de una identidad ciudadana democrática.

Collection primarily documents McCulloch's research on women's legal status, and her work with the Illinois Equal Suffrage Association, the National American Woman Suffrage Association, and the League of Women Voters. There is also documentation of women in the legal profession, of McCulloch's friendships with the other women suffragists and lawyers, and some biographical material. Origins of Australian Football: Victoria's Early History. Volume 1 Amateur Heroes and the Rise of the Clubs, 1858 to 1876

This is volume 1 in a series of four volumes about the origins of Australian football as it evolved in Victoria between 1858 and 1896. This volume addresses its very beginnings as an amateur sport and the rise of the first clubs. Invented by a group of Melbourne cricketers and sports enthusiasts, Australian Rules football was developed through games played on Melbourne's park lands and was originally known as "Melbourne Football Club Rules". This formative period of the game saw the birth of the first 'amateur heroes' of the game. Players such as T.W. Wills, H.C.A. Harrison, Jack Conway, George O'Mullane and Robert Murray Smith emerged as warriors engaged in individual rugby-type scrimmages. The introduction of Challenge Cups was an important spur for this burgeoning sport. Intense competition and growing rivalries between clubs such as Melbourne, South Yarra, Royal Park, and Geelong began to flourish and the game developed as a result. By the 1870s the game "Victorian Rules" had become the most popular outdoor winter sport across the state. In subsequent decades, rapid growth in club football occurred and the game attracted increasing media attention.

This collection holds papers of members of the Loewenstein family, especially Walter and Karl Loewenstein. Among the papers here are examples of Walter Loewenstein's writing, documentation of life in Rietberg in Westphalia (Germany) during the late 1930s and early 1940s, and correspondence concerning the fate of several family members during this time. Papers relating to Karl Loewenstein focus on his wartime activities. The genealogy of the Brandenstein family is also represented here along with a few papers of other family members. The collection consists of unpublished manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, official and restitution documentation, notebooks and notes, genealogical research, and fliers.
