Public space : its mythopoetic foundations and the limits of the law

Drawing on William Dawes' unpublished notebooks on the Indigenous languages spoken around Sydney Cove at the time of white settlement, this article hopes to provoke critical reflection on the limits of the law. Dawes' record of communication with Patyegarang documents a transaction that was both political and erotic, both about the law and in defiance of it. In performances that were gestural as well as verbal, they marked out a middle ground where the laws governing both of them were placed in parentheses and new, provisional, rules of exchange improvised. This article notices the existence of this middle ground, and marks its disappearance in subsequent legal discourse about the status of Indigenous people. Ultimately, it offers a reflection on the laws that govern the meeting place which the middle ground underwrites. That is, before public space became fixed for the legally binding discourse of politics, it was mobile and self-constituting. Is this simply a myth or is it a mythopoetic mechanism for rethinking the grounding of law in Australia? If it is the latter, then the next step will be to establish a middle ground of exchange with Indigenous law-giving systems.

O papel das emissoras educativas no Brasil em tempo de eleições

The concept of educational radio is present in the Brazilian Code of Broadcasting in 1963, valued by an Interministerial 1999.According to the Ministry of Communications, only 176 stations are considered educational universe of 3,000 existing radios in Brazil. In this context, the study proposes to establish a discussion on the educational experiences obtained from the radio, considering the Brazilian radio culture that favors concessions to trade groups and religious politicians. The challenge will be to move toward a program that combines educational content, entertainment, and thus ensures a common universe of communication skills enabling the adult radio listeners their actual interaction with the world around him. The methodology will work in the literature from texts on the subject, and the result of practical observations collected during visits to the broadcasters, programming and analysis.

Centro cultural universitario espacio de interrelación universidad-ciudad

Como Arquitecto, es importante comprender el oficio como una disciplina de servicio social, no sólo como un arte, pues la arquitectura además de ser una estructura física, requiere ser planteada como un sistema de resolución de problemas ciudadanos. El presente trabajo de grado promueve esta necesidad de brindar servicio a la comunidad mediante la inserción de una obra nueva, desarrollando la Propuesta Arquitectónica de un Centro Cultural Universitario enfocado desde el punto de Espacio de Interrelación Universidad - Ciudad, como un sitio estratégico de concentración estudiantil. Emplazado en una zona históricamente representativa de la ciudad de Cuenca con la intencionalidad de impulsar, difundir y consolidar las actividades culturales fomentando el uso del espacio público como plataforma integradora de relaciones sociales, generando en el individuo un mayor sentido de pertenencia, participación y apropiación, que garantice el uso y conservación del espacio urbano.
