O TELETRABALHO NA UNIVERSIDADE E PROCESSOS DE COMUNICAÇÃO

O presente estudo analisa a significância e as implicações do teletrabalho na docência de nível superior no Brasil, objetivando demonstrar os benefícios e aplicações advindos desse processo para a prática professoral superior, assim como o amplo leque funcional derivado do teletrabalho aplicado no labor do professor universitário. Utilizando-se de um estudo de caso promovido junto aos docentes da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do SUL (UFMS), a pesquisa avalia a relação do trabalho docente com o teletrabalho e, também, os impactos, benefícios e problemas que poderão ocorrer em decorrência da implantação do teletrabalho aos docentes da UFMS. Para tanto, foi feita uma análise quantitativa e descritiva, sendo que a análise estatística descritiva serviu de base para inferências generalizadoras de natureza qualitativa. A partir dos resultados da pesquisa de campo, que utilizou como instrumento principal questionário com perguntas abertas e fechadas, o estudo conclui que o teletrabalho é uma possibilidade viável e, dentro de suas limitações, benéfica para o trabalho docente superior.

A afinidade com a Física: uma análise feita com estudantes da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS)

The aim of this study is to investigate aspects that influenced students of Physics at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) to choose that course and the influence that their own teachers had on their decision. In order to do that, a questionnaire was prepared and answered by forty-five students of Physics (bachelor's course or teacher's course). In the results we highlighted that those students developed affinities with physics knowledge before choosing the course. The analysis suggests that the teacher, although not predominant in these choices, is an important catalyst, thus influencing students to choose a career in science co-operating.

Building an effective trade practices commission : the role of Professor Robert Baxt AO

Bob Baxt, the third Chairman of the Trade Practices Commission, served for a single three year term from 1988 to 1991. He followed Bob McComas, who had deliberately adopted a non-litigious approach to preserving the competitive process, believing that he understood business as an insider and that much of what it did was not anti-competitive, when correctly viewed. Baxt was far more pro-active in his approach, and more closely aligned with that of the first Chairman, Ron Bannerman. Baxt sought to push the frontiers of investigation and precedent, and perhaps, more significantly, sought to influence his Ministers, the government, public servants and public opinion about the need to expand the coverage of the Trade Practices Act, increase penalties and properly resource the Commission so that it could perform its assigned roles. This article examines Baxt’s early and on-going role in teaching Australian students and professionals through his interdisciplinary Trade Practices Workshops, the political context of Baxt’s tenure, including his relations with the Attorney-General ,Michael Duffy, and his skilful handling of the Queensland Wire case.

David Held is the Graham Wallace Chair in Political Science, and co-director of LSE Global Governance, at the London School of Economics. He is the author of many works, such as Cosmopolitanism: Ideals and Realities (2010); The Cosmopolitanism Reader (2010), with Garrett Brown; Globalisation/AntiGlobalisation (2007), Models of Democracy (2006), Global Covenant (2004) and Global Transformations: Politics, Economics and Culture (1999). Professor Held is also the co-founder, alongside Lord Professor Anthony Giddens, of Polity Press. Professor Held is widely known for his work concerning cosmopolitan theory, democracy, and social, political and economic global improvement.
