O tronco unificador da árvore educativa em Portugal sintetiza-se num conjunto de normativos que regulam o processo de ensino/aprendizagem, do pré-escolar ao ensino universitário, passando pelas diversas vertentes e modalidades que assume a escolaridade portuguesa. O primeiro documento, a partir do qual se postula toda a legislação em vigor é a Constituição Portuguesa de 1976, sendo a Lei n.o 46/86 de 14 de Outubro, a Lei de Bases do Sistema Educativo, o documento base estruturador do sistema educativo português. De 1986 a 2010, têm-se sucedido reformas, alterações curriculares, diferentes perspectivas de se encarar a educação e os seus actores. Com o presente estudo, que se enquadra no âmbito de uma investigação mais ampla, pretende-se apresentar e debater as principais linhas do pensamento educativo, com base na interpretação dos principais normativos em vigor, procurando responder à questão de qual será o modus operandi mais adequado para dar resposta aos desafios do século XXI, em Portugal. Paradoxalmente, elementos da pedagogia crítica coexistem com elementos de um pensamento neoconservador, no quadro normativo português: ideias como a “igualdade de oportunidades” e “inclusão” surgem ao mesmo tempo em que cada vez mais se incrementam “Quadros de Valor e Excelência”, “Prémios de Mérito” para docentes e discentes, numa procura de excelência mais próxima de uma política neoconservadora.

El trabajo se ha realizado (parte práctica) en el C.P. 'Severiano Montero' de Peñaranda de Bracamonte (Salamanca). Los profesores que han intervenido trabajan en Centro Públicos como profesores de apoyo a la integración de alumnos con necesidades educativas especiales, son 6. Objetivos: -Primero. Elaboración de Adaptaciones Curriculares Individualizadas (ACIs) en casos de alumnos con necesidades educativas especiales para posibilitar su acceso al curriculum del Centro; -Segundo. Generalizar el trabajo, realizando y elaborando un documento para el profesorado, con lo que se ha logrado: a) Proporcionar los conocimientos psicológicos, sociales y pedagógicos básicos, que permitan elaborar un modelo de educación acorde con la nueva propuesta curricular. b) Despertar una actitud positiva hacia la escolarización de niños con necesidades educativas especiales. c) Responder a las necesidades de formación sobre la realización de Adaptaciones Curriculares. d) Facilitar material pedagógico al profesorado vinculado a niños con necesidades educativas especiales. La metodología ha sido: a) Vinculación de la investigación a la práctica profesional. b) El Centro Escolar será la unidad para el desarrollo de la investigación. c) Fomento de la Investigación del desarrollo del curriculum. d) Desarrollo de modelos y estrategias de Adaptaciones Curriculares Individualizadas (ACIs). e) Implicación de los profesores en la puesta en práctica de las Adaptaciones Curriculares Individualizadas (ACIs). Los resultados se pueden considerar muy satisfactorios. Se ha utilizado el Diseño de caso único y la Evaluación cualitativa. Las Evaluaciones que se han hecho han sido las siguientes: 1.- Fase A: Evaluación y Valoración Psicopedagógica. 2.- Fase B: Aplicación de la Propuesta Curricular Individualizada, interviniendo en el sujeto. 3.- Fase A: Reversión. 4.- Seguimiento. Como conclusiones y propuestas resaltamos la importancia de la promoción del alumno hacía entornos menos restrictivos y que todos los profesionales del Centro y del exterior estén involucrados en la toma de decisiones, revisando evaluación, desarrollo y elaboración. Es importante también diseñar desde la escuela un programa que recoja las intenciones educativas que se proponen para los alumnos con necesidades educativas especiales. Los materiales que han sido utilizados son: Pruebas psicopedagógicas, libros, revistas, material audiovisual, material informático, material fungible, etc...., consultas de bases de datos. Background The wellness construct has application in a number of fields including education, healthcare and counseling, particularly with regard to female adolescents. The effective measurement of wellness in adolescents can assist researchers and practitioners in determining lifestyle behaviors in which they are lacking. Behavior change interventions can then be designed which directly aid in the promotion of these areas. Methods The 5-Factor Wellness Inventory (designed to measure the Indivisible Self model of wellness) is a popular instrument for measuring the broad aspects of wellness amongst adolescents. The instrument comprises 97 items contributing to 17 subscales, five dimension scores, four context scores, total wellness score, and a life satisfaction index. This investigation evaluated the test-retest (intra-rater) reliability of the 5 F-Wel instrument in repeated assessments (seven days apart) among adolescent females aged 12-14 years. Percentages of exact agreement for individual items, and the number of respondents who scored within +/-5, +/-7.5 and +/-10 points for total wellness and the five summary dimension scores were calculated. Results Overall, 46 (95.8%) participants responded with complete data and were included in the analysis. Item agreement ranged from 47.8% to 100% across the 97 items (median 69.9%, interquartile range 60.9%-73.9%). The percentage of respondents who scored within +/-5, +/-7.5 and +/-10 points for total wellness at the re-assessment was 87.0%, 97.8% and 97.8% respectively. The percentage of respondents who scored within +/-5, +/-7.5 and +/-10 for the domain scores at the reassessment ranged between 54.3-76.1%, 78.3-95.7% and 89.1-95.7% respectively across the five dimensions. Conclusions These findings suggest there was considerable variation in agreement between the two assessments on some individual items. However, the total wellness score and the five dimension summary scores remained comparatively stable between assessments.

The thermally driven Structural phase transition in the organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite (CnH2n+1NH3)(2)PbI4 has been investigated using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. This system consists of positively charged alkyl-amine chains anchored to a rigid negatively charged PbI4 sheet with the chains organized as bilayers with a herringbone arrangement. Atomistic simulations were performed using ail isothermal-isobaric ensemble over a wide temperature range from 65 to 665 K for different alkyl chain lengths, n = 12, 14, 16, and 18. The simulations are able to reproduce the essential Features of the experimental observations of this system, including the existence of a transition, the linear variation of the transition temperature with alkyl chain length, and the expansion of the bilayer thickness at the transition. By use of the distance fluctuation Criteria, it is Shown that the transition is associated With a Melting of the alkyl chains of the anchored bilayer. Ail analysis of the conformation of the alkyl chains shows increased disorder in the form of gauche defects above due melting transition. Simulations also show that the melting transition is characterized by the complete disappearance of all-trans alkyl chains in the anchored bilayer, in agreement with experimental observations. A conformationally disordered chain has a larger effective cross-sectional area, and above due transition a uniformly tilted arrangement of the anchored chains call no longer be Sustained. At the melt the angular distribution of the orientation of the chains are 110 longer uniform; the chains are splayed allowing for increased space for individual chains of the anchored bilayer. This is reflected in a sharp rise in the ratio of the mean head-to-head to tail-to-tail distance of the chains of the bilayer at the transition resulting in in expansion of the bilayer thickness. The present MD simulations provide a simple explanation as to how changes in conformation of individual alkyl-chains gives rise to the observed increase in the interlayer lattice spacing of (CnH2n+1NH3)(2)PbI4 at the melting transition.

The river perch (Perca fluviatilis L.) is most active in the daytime hours, and displays seasonal changes of diel rhythm with a break of the rhythm in spring and autumn. In the present work data were obtained on the motor activity of 3 perch measuring l8-20 cm, caught by net in the littoral of a reservoir and spawned under laboratory conditions. The degree of intensity of movement of perch was judged by special experiments. The results are summarised in this short paper.

A asma é um distúrbio crônico pulmonar caracterizado por inflamação, obstrução e remodelamento brônquico, levando a sintomas como sibilo, tosse e falta de ar. A terapia antiasmática consiste em corticosteroides inalados e agonistas β2 de curta ou longa duração. O tratamento é limitado por efeitos colaterais e refratariedade de alguns pacientes, justificando a necessidade de novas terapias. Estudos demonstram que a 15-deoxy-delta- 12,14-prostaglandina J2 (15d-PGJ2), um ligante endógeno de receptores ativados por proliferadores de peroxissomos do tipo gama (PPAR-γ), é capaz de reduzir a expressão de citocinas pró-inflamatórias, o que pode resultar em benefícios no tratamento de doenças com esse perfil. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o potencial anti-inflamatório e antiasmático da 15d-PGJ2 em modelos experimentais de asma. Camundongos A/J machos foram sensibilizados nos dias 0 e 7 através de injeção subcutânea (s.c.), contendo ovoalbumina (OVA) e Al(OH)3, e desafiados com 4 instilações intranasais (i.n.) de OVA em intervalos semanais. O tratamento com 15d-PGJ2 (30 e 100 g/Kg, s.c.) foi realizado 30 min antes dos desafios a partir da terceira provocação antigênica. Em outro modelo, camundongos A/J foram desafiados intranasalmente com extrato de ácaro 3 vezes por semana durante 3 semanas. As administrações de 15d-PGJ2 (30, 70 e 100 g/Kg, s.c. e 0,65; 1,5 e 2,3 g/animal, i.n.) foram realizadas a partir da 3 semana, 30 min antes dos desafios. As análises ocorreram 24 h após o último desafio. Nossos resultados mostraram que, em camundongos previamente sensibilizados e desafiados com OVA, a administração de 15d-PGJ2 limitou significativamente o influxo peribrônquico de eosinófilos e neutrófilos, bem como a produção de muco por células caliciformes e fibrose sub-epitelial, além da hiperreatividade das vias aéreas e produção de IL-5. A redução do epitélio brônquico e das citocinas IL-13 e TNF-α foram observadas somente na maior dose administrada. No modelo HDM a inflamação e o remodelamento foram atenuados em todas as doses administradas do composto, enquanto que a hiperresponssividade brônquica foi inibida apenas nas doses de 70 e 100 μg/Kg (via sistêmica) e na dose intermediária dada topicamente (1,5 μg/animal, i.n.). Os níveis de citocinas foram atenuados pelo tratamento subcutâneo, porém somente os níveis de IL-17, eotaxina-1 e TNF-α foram inibidos com a dose intranasal de 0,65 g/animal. O aumento da expressão de NF-κB, induzido por provocação com HDM também foi reduzido significativamente pela administração de 15d-PGJ2. Em conjunto, nossos dados indicam que o tratamento com 15d-PGJ2 inibe alterações cruciais associadas à patogênese da asma, em modelos experimentais distintos da doença, demonstrando possuir grande potencial para controlar e reverter inflamação, hiperreatividade e remodelamento pulmonar desencadeados por provocação alérgica.

Cyclooxygenase-2 (Cox-2) and Apo J/clusterin are involved in inflammatory resolution and have each been reported to inhibit NF-?B signalling. Using a well-validated rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cell culture model of Cox-2 over-expression the current study investigated inter-dependence between Cox-2 and clusterin with respect to induction of expression and impact on NF-?B signalling. Both gene expression and immunoblot analysis confirmed that intracellular and secreted levels of clusterin were elevated in Cox-2 over-expressing cells (PCXII). Clusterin expression was increased in control (PCMT) cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner by 15-deoxy-? 12,14-prostaglandin J 2 (15d-PGJ 2), but not PGE 2, and inhibited in PCXII cells by pharmacological Cox inhibition. In PCXII cells, inhibition of two transcription factors known to be activated by 15d-PGJ 2, heat shock factor 1 (HSF-1) and peroxisome proliferator activated receptor (PPAR)?, by transcription factor oligonucleotide decoy and antagonist (GW9662) treatment, respectively, reduced clusterin expression. While PCXII cells exhibited reduced TNF-a-induced cell surface ICAM-1 expression, IkB phosphorylation and degradation were similar to control cells. With respect to the impact of Cox-2-dependent clusterin upregulation on NF-?B signalling, basal levels of I?B were similar in control and PCXII cells, and no evidence for a physical association between clusterin and phospho-I?B was obtained. Moreover, while PCXII cells exhibited reduced NF-?B transcriptional activity, this was not restored by clusterin knock-down. These results indicate that Cox-2 induces clusterin in a 15d-PGJ 2-dependent manner, and via activation of HSF-1 and PPAR?. However, the results do not support a model whereby Cox-2/15d-PGJ 2-dependent inhibition of NF-?B signalling involves clusterin.

Objectives: To investigate dental erosion among 12-14 year old Sudanese school children and evaluate the associated risk factors. Basic Research Design: Cross sectional survey in secondary schools in Khartoum city, Sudan. Method and Participants: A sample of 157 school children was obtained from both private and public schools. Erosion on the labial and palatal surfaces of maxillary incisors was measured by criterion based on the Smith and Knight Tooth Wear Index. Dietary intake and other related factors were assessed using a questionnaire. Results: The overall erosion prevalence in this group was 66.9%, of which 45.2% was mild and 21.7% was moderate erosion. A strong association was found between erosion and private schooling (higher socioeconomic groups), carbonated drinks, herbal hibiscus drink and traditional acidic food consumption. Conclusion: There was a high prevalence of dental erosion among Sudanese school children which was mild to moderate in severity and was strongly associated with acidic dietary intake © BASCD 2007.

A number of metal complexes containing the ligand 5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-l,4,8,11-tetra-azatetradecane were synthesized and analyzed using electron impact (EI) and fast atom bombardment (FAB). The FAB mass spectra were obtained in positive and negative ion mode. FAB in the positive ion mode proved to be the most successful technique for the identification of these compounds. In the majority of cases the spectra obtained using positive ion FAB were structurally informative, although not all showed molecular (M+) or quasimolecular ([M+H]+) ions. The fragmentations observed were characteristic of the ligands, and were interpreted based on the chemistry of these compounds.
