La difusió del patrimoni fotogràfic a Catalunya : Anàlisi de l'Arxiu Fotogràfic de Barcelona, el Departament de Fotografia del MNAC i la Fundació Foto Colectania

Aquest estudi fa un balanç sobre la gestió actual del patrimoni fotogràfic a Catalunya, en concret de la seva difusió. Es pren com a punt de partida el recent episodi de l'Arxiu Centelles, que ha fet plantejar quin és l'estat actual dels arxius i entitats fotogràfiques de Catalunya, i quina gestió es fa dels seus fons, no només per a preservar el patrimoni fotogràfic català, sinó també per a difondre'l i fer-lo accessible als usuaris.

Using crowdsourced imagery to detect cultural ecosystem services: a case study in South Wales, UK

Within ecological research and environmental management, there is currently a focus on demonstrating the links between human well-being and wildlife conservation. Within this framework, there is a clear interest in better understanding how and why people value certain places over others. We introduce a new method that measures cultural preferences by exploring the potential of multiple online georeferenced digital photograph collections. Using ecological and social considerations, our study contributes to the detection of places that provide cultural ecosystem services. The degree of appreciation of a specific place is derived from the number of people taking and sharing pictures of it. The sequence of decisions and actions taken to share a digital picture of a given place includes the effort to travel to the place, the willingness to take a picture, the decision to geolocate the picture, and the action of sharing it through the Internet. Hence, the social activity of sharing pictures leaves digital proxies of spatial preferences, with people sharing specific photos considering the depicted place not only “worth visiting” but also “worth sharing visually.” Using South Wales as a case study, we demonstrate how the proposed methodology can help identify key geographic features of high cultural value. These results highlight how the inclusion of geographical user-generated content, also known as volunteered geographic information, can be very effective in addressing some of the current priorities in conservation. Indeed, the detection of the most appreciated nonurban areas could be used for better prioritization, planning, and management.

TFC J2EE : Globalteca - gestió de col·leccions

El Treball Fi de Carrera (TFC) engloba l'anàlisi, el disseny i la implementació d'una aplicació web utilitzant la tecnologia Java y l'arquitectura J2EE. Com a primera tasca s'afegeix una planificació prèvia i també una memòria i presentació finals. El Treball consisteix en el desenvolupament de Globalteca, una aplicació que permet portar a terme la gestió de col·leccions a nivell personal com ara pel·lícules, llibres i música, i obert a altres usuaris que vulguin accedir-hi. L'objectiu és tenir tota la informació de les diferents col·leccions centralitzada.

Robert M. Ward Photograph Collection - Accession 502

The Robert M. Ward Photograph Collection consists of approximately 400 prints and 900 negatives from the photographs that he took in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. Most of the events and individuals pictured are from the York County, SC area and include the Latta House in York, South Carolina, downtown Rock Hill, parades, baseball, military, aviation, sports, and other York County buildings and scenes. Also included are photographs of Landsford Canal State Park, York Technical College, Winthrop University, Catawba Indian chieftain King Haigler’s memorial, Andrew Jackson State Park, Kings Mountain State Park, Hall of Fame Golfer Sam Sneed's visit to Rock Hill, SC, and Charleston, South Carolina. The collection also contains newspaper articles from the York Observer, dated from 1988 to 1992, which helped to identify some of the people and events in the pictures.

Joe Azer Photograph Collection - Accession 792

The Joe Azer Photograph Collection consists of more than 6500 photographs taken by Joe Azer, Rock Hill, South Carolina photographer. Included are photographs of beauty pageants, parades, women, families, fashion, local history, Winthrop students and events such as May Day, public school events, plays, sports, weddings, and Azer’s family. These photographs were taken in York, Chester, Lancaster, Cherokee, Kershaw, Chesterfield, Horry and other South Carolina counties. Also included are negatives, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, photograph albums, and photographic equipment, and photographs arranged by subject.
