The Firenzuola turbidite system formed during a paroxysmal phase of thrust propagation, involving the upper Serravallian deposits of the Marnoso-arenacea Formation (MAF). During this phase the coeval growth of two major tectonic structures, the M. Castellaccio thrust and the Verghereto high, played a key role, causing a closure of the inner basin and a coeval shift of the depocentre to the outer basin. This work focuses on this phase of fragmentation of the MAF basin; it is based on a new detailed high-resolution stratigraphic framework, which was used to determine the timing of growth of the involved structures and their direct influence on sediment dispersal and on the lateral and vertical turbidite facies distribution. The Firenzuola turbidite system stratigraphy is characterized by the occurrence of mass-transport complexes (MTCs) and thick sandstone accumulation in the depocentral area, which passes to finer drape over the structural highs; the differentiation between these two zones increases over time and ends with the deposition of marly units over the structural highs and the emplacement of the Visignano MTC. According to the stratigraphic pattern and turbidite facies characteristics, the Firenzuola System has been split into two phases, namely Firenzuola I and Firenzuola II: the former is quite similar to the underlying deposits, while the latter shows the main fragmentation phase, testifying the progressive isolation of the inner basin and a coeval shift of the depocentre to the outer basin. The final stratigraphic and sedimentological dataset has been used to create a quantitative high-resolution 3D facies distribution using the Petrel software platform. This model allows a detailed analysis of lateral and vertical facies variations that can be exported to several reservoirs settings in hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation areas, since facies distributions and geometries of the reservoir bodies of many sub-surface turbidite basins show a significant relationship to the syndepositional structural activity, but are beyond seismic resolution.

The Mont Collon mafic complex is one of the best preserved examples of the Early Permian magmatism in the Central Alps, related to the intra-continental collapse of the Variscan belt. It mostly consists (> 95 vol.%) of ol+hy-nonnative plagioclase-wehrlites, olivine- and cpx-gabbros with cumulitic structures, crosscut by acid dikes. Pegmatitic gabbros, troctolites and anorthosites outcrop locally. A well-preserved cumulative, sequence is exposed in the Dents de Bertol area (center of intrusion). PT-calculations indicate that this layered magma chamber emplaced at mid-crustal levels at about 0.5 GPa and 1100 degrees C. The Mont Collon cumulitic rocks record little magmatic differentiation, as illustrated by the restricted range of clinopyroxene mg-number (Mg#(cpx)=83-89). Whole-rock incompatible trace-element contents (e.g. Nb, Zr, Ba) vary largely and without correlation with major-element composition. These features are characteristic of an in-situ crystallization process with variable amounts of interstitial liquid L trapped between the cumulus mineral phases. LA-ICPMS measurements show that trace-element distribution in the latter is homogeneous, pointing to subsolidus re-equilibration between crystals and interstitial melts. A quantitative modeling based on Langmuir's in-situ crystallization equation successfully duplicated the REE concentrations in cumulitic minerals of all rock facies of the intrusion. The calculated amounts of interstitial liquid L vary between 0 and 35% for degrees of differentiation F of 0 to 20%, relative to the least evolved facies of the intrusion. L values are well correlated with the modal proportions of interstitial amphibole and whole-rock incompatible trace-element concentrations (e.g. Zr, Nb) of the tested samples. However, the in-situ crystallization model reaches its limitations with rock containing high modal content of REE-bearing minerals (i.e. zircon), such as pegmatitic gabbros. Dikes of anorthositic composition, locally crosscutting the layered lithologies, evidence that the Mont Collon rocks evolved in open system with mixing of intercumulus liquids of different origins and possibly contrasting compositions. The proposed model is not able to resolve these complex open systems, but migrating liquids could be partly responsible for the observed dispersion of points in some correlation diagrams. Absence of significant differentiation with recurrent lithologies in the cumulitic pile of Dents de Bertol points to an efficiently convective magma chamber, with possible periodic replenishment, (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. The integrated and process oriented nature of Enterprise Systems (ES) has led organizations to use process modeling as an aid in managing these systems. Enterprise Systems success factor studies explicitly and implicitly state the importance of process modeling and its contribution to overall Enterprise System success. However, no empirical evidence exists on how to conduct process modeling successfully and possibly differentially in the main phases of the ES life-cycle. This paper reports on an empirical investigation of the factors that influence process modeling success. An a-priori model with 8 candidate success factors has been developed to this stage. This paper introduces the research context and objectives, describes the research design and the derived model, and concludes by looking ahead to the next phases of the research design.

In Service-Oriented Architectures (SOAs), software systems are decomposed into independent units, namely services, that interact with one another through message exchanges. To promote reuse and evolvability, these interactions are explicitly described right from the early phases of the development lifecycle. Up to now, emphasis has been placed on capturing structural aspects of service interactions. Gradually though, the description of behavioral dependencies between service interactions is gaining increasing attention as a means to push forward the SOA vision. This paper deals with the description of these behavioral dependencies during the analysis and design phases. The paper outlines a set of requirements that a language for modeling service interactions at this level should fulfill, and proposes a language whose design is driven by these requirements.
