The hyphenated technique of high performance liquid chromatography coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(HPLC-ICP-MS) was applied to the simultaneous determination of five organotin compounds in the shellfish samples. Agilent TC-C-18 column was selected, mobile phase of the HPLC was CH3CN:H2O: CH3COOH = 65:23:12 (V/V), 0. 05% TEA, pH = 3.0 at flow rate 0.4 mL/min. Five mixed organotin standards from 100 mu g/L to 0. 5 mu g/L was used for the method evaluation. The experimental results indicate that the linearity (R-2) for each compound was over 0.998. The shellfish samples were treated by supersonic extraction with mobile phase for 30min. Four organotin compounds including dibutyltin (DBT), tributyltin (TBT), diphenyltin (DphT) and triphenyltin (TPhT) in shellfish samples were detected with method mentioned above. It was found that the domain compounds in the samples were tributyltin (TBT) and triphenyltin (TPhT). The recoveries test from the standard addition for trimethyltin (TMT tributyltin (TBT), and triphenyltin (TPhT) were, over 80%. However, the recoveries for diphenyltin (DPhT) and dibutyltin (DBT) were relatively low, 37.3% and 75.2% respectively. The reason might be attributed to the decomposition of those compounds during the extraction procedure. The further study on this subject is under the progress.

Organotin compounds, largely used as biocides in antifouling paints, are among the most toxic materials introduced into the aquatic environment. Sensitive analytical methods are thus required to characterize their occurrence in environmental and biological matrices. The comparison between two different photometric detectors in terms of analytical performance was carried out for the analysis of organotin compounds. A flame photometric detector (FPD) and a pulsed flame photometric detector (PFPD) were optimized. Their respective sensitivity, linearity range and selectivity were evaluated. Limits of detection obtained for a tributyltin compound (TBT) were 5.0 and 0.9 pg (as Sn) for the FPD and PFPD, respectively, using a 390 nm filter. The PFPD showed higher selectivity, besides reduced gas consumption in the flame, and is very attractive for organotin compound speciation in complex environmental matrices.

The hyphenated technique of high performance liquid chromatography coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS) was applied to the simultaneous determination of five organotin compounds (trimethyltin, dibutyltin, tributyltin, diphenyltin and triphenyltin) in seawater samples. Agilent TC-C18 column was used for the separation, the mobile phase of HPLC was CH3CN : H2O: CH3COOH=65 : 23 : 12 (phi), 0.05% TEA, and pH value was adjusted to 3.0 by diluent ammonia. The flow rate was 0.6 mL . min(-1). Five mixed organotin compounds in a mix standard solution from 100 to 0.5 mu g . L-1 were applied for the method assessment. The experimental results indicate that the correlation coefficient of calibration curves (R-2) for each organotin compound was over 0.998 and the detection limits of the five organotin compounds were lower than 3 ng . L-1. Different mixed organic solvents including dichloromethane or toluene were used for extraction of organotin and the extraction condition of organotin from seawater was optimized. The 100 mL seawater acidized by hydrochloric acid was extracted by 10 mL carbon dichloride (CH2Cl2) with 2% tropolone for 10 min twice. Extracted organic solvents were mixed And blown to one drop by nitrogen with the rate of 1.7 mL . min(-1), then 1 mL acetonitrile was added to the drop for redissolving the organotin compounds. Finally, the mixed redissolution was filtered by 0.22 mu m organic filter membrane before analysis. it was found that the only organotin compound in seawater was triphenyltin (TPHT) and the content was 53.2 ng . L-1. The recoveries test from the standard addition for diphenyltin (DPHT), dibutyltin (DBT), tributyltin (TBT) and triphenyltin (TPHT) were over 80%. However, the recovery for trimethyltin (TMT) was relatively low and the value was 50%. The reason might be attributed to the decomposition or adsorption of those compounds during the extraction procedure. Further study on this subject is in progress.

The syntheses of the complexes formulated as SnMe2Cl2(Ad)2 (I), SnMe2Cl2(Ado)2 (II), SnMe2Cl2- (9-MeAd)2 (III) [Ad = adenine, Ado = adenosine, 9-MeAd = 9-methyladenine] as well as the more unexpected SnPhCl2(OH)(Ad)2·3H2O (IV) and SnPhCl3(Ado)2 (V) by reaction of SnMe2Cl2 or SnPh2Cl2 with the appropriate bases in methanol is described. 1H NMR studies suggest that coordination is through the N-7 position of the adenine base.

The reaction of diorganotin sulfides, cyclo-(R2SnS)n (R=Me, n-Bu; n=3; R=t-Bu; n=2) with the corresponding diorganotin dichlorides, R2SnCl2, provided the tetraorganodistannathianes, (R2ClSn)2S (1, R=Me; 2, R=n-Bu; 3, R=t-Bu). 1H-, 13C-, and 119Sn-NMR studies indicate that these compounds are kinetically labile and in equilibrium with the starting materials. Addition of equimolar amounts of [(Ph3P)2N]Cl to the reaction mixtures gave the chloride complexes [(Ph3P)2N]+[S(SnR2Cl)2Cl] (4, R=Me; 5, R=n-Bu; 6, R=t-Bu). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed the tin atoms in both 4 and 6 to adopt distorted trigonal bipyramidal configurations with the chlorine atoms occupying the axial positions.

(119)Sn, (31)P and (13)C variable temperature NMR spectroscopies have been used to examine the effective coordination spheres in solution of a series of hypervalent organotin(IV) dithiolate compounds RnSnXm(S-S)4-n-m where R = Ph, Me, nBu, tBu; X = Cl, Br; (S-S) = S2CNR'2, S2COR', S2P(OR')2 (R' = Me, Et, iPr) and n = 1, 2, 3; m = 0,1,2. Stereochemical nonrigidity is a common phenomenon found for these hypervalent compounds. On the basis of heteronuclear NMR data and X-ray crystallographic data, dynamic behaviors of these hypervalent compounds have been established. The system of hypervalent organotin(IV) fluoride complexes has also been investigated by variable temperature heteronuclear NMR techniques. A series of monomeric pentacoordinate complexes [RnSnC1mF5-n-m]-(R = Ph, Me, nBu, tBu; n = 2, 3; m - 0, 1, 2, 3) and dimeric complexes [(Me3SnX)F(Me3SnX')]- (X = F, Cl; X' = F, Cl) and hexacoordinate complexes [RnSnClmF6-n.m]2- (R = Ph, Me, nBu; n = 1, 2; m = (X 1, 2, 3,4) are identified in solution. The fluoride is of higer affinite to tin than the chloride. The stereochemistry and dynamic behavior of these complexes in solution has been studied. Fluoride ion may induce phenyl group disproportionation of phenyhin(IV) compounds. It is also found that in pentacoordinate diorganotin complexes, such as [Ph2SnCl2F]- and [Ph2SnClF2]- fluorine can be less apicophilic than chlorine. Studies of stereochemistry and dynamic behavior of bi-functional Lewis acid bis(haloorganosiannes) have also been carried out. The bis(haloorganostannes) exhibit strong chelate ability towards halide, with high selectivity on fluoride, forming heterocyclic chelating rings, the stability of which depend on the ring size. In further exploration of the Lewis acidity of organotin(IV) halides, complexation of organotin(IV) halides with bis(tertiary phosphinc) ligands has been studied by 119Sn and 31P NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The phenyl group disproportionation is often observed in the complexation reaction. Furthermore, organotin(IV) clusters such as [(RSn)12O14(OH)6]Cl2-2H2O (R = iPr, nBu) have been successfully prepared by base hydrolysis of RSnCl3. These clusters contain 12 tin atoms in one molecule and the cores of the clusters are dications. Other organotin clusters such as [nBuSn(O)O2CCH3]6 and [(nBuSn(OH)O2PPh2)3][O2PPh2) are readily formed by reaction of the 12-tin-atom cluster with an appropriate acid. The reactivity of and interconversion between organotin(FV) clusters have also been studied.

Quaternary ammonium exchanged laponites (Quat-laponites) show selectivity in the adsorption of phenols and chlorinated phenols. Strong adsorbate-adsorbent interactions are indicated by adsorption isotherms. Adsorption of phenols and chlorinated phenols by Quat-smectites is greater than that by the Bi Quat-Smectites prepared in this study. It is thought that the quaternary ammonium exchanged smectite components of the Bi Quat-smectites interact with each other (adsorbent-adsorbent interactions) reducing the number of sites available for adsorbate-adsorbent interactions. Solidification/stabilisation studies of 2-chlorophenol show that a blend of ground granulated blast furnace slag and ordinary Portland cement attenuates 2-chlorophenol more effectively than ordinary Portland cement alone. Tetramethyl ammonium- (TMA-) and tetramethyl phosphonium- (TMP-) montmorillonites were exposed to solutions of phenol or chlorinated phenols. TMP- montmorillonite was the better adsorbent and preferentially adsorbed 4-chlorophenol over phenol. Hydration of the interlayer cations occurs to a greater extent in the TMA-montmorillonite than the TMP-montmorillonite restricting interlayer adsorption. Contrary to that observed for phenols and chlorinated phenols, the Quat-smectites were ineffective as adsorbents for triphenyltin hydroxide and bis(tributyltin) oxide at room temperature. Under microwave conditions, only bis(tributyltin) oxide was adsorbed by the quaternary ammonium exchanged smectites. Bis(tributyltin) oxide was adsorbed from ethanol on the surface of the smectite clays at room temperature and under microwave conditions. The adsorbate-adsorbent interactions were weak. Adsorption is accompanied by conversion of bis(tributyltin) oxide to a different tin(IV) species and the release of sodium cations from the montmorillonite interlayer region. Attempts to introduce conditions suitable for charge transfer interactions between synthesised quaternary ammonium compounds and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol are documented. Transition metal complex exchanged clays adsorb 2,4,6-trichlorophenol and phenol. Strong adsorbate-adsorbent interactions (Type I isotherms) occur when the adsorbate is 2,4,6-trichlorophenol and when the adsorbent is [Fe(bipy)3]2+ exchanged montmorillonite or [Co(bipy)3]3+ exchanged montmorillonite. The 2,2'-bipyridyl ligands of the adsorbents are electron rich and the 2,4,6-trichlorophenol is electron deficient. This may have enhanced adsorbate-adsorbent interactions.

The successful application of metal complexes in the treatment of many diseases, including cancer, is a rapidly expanding area in biomedical chemistry and research. Organotin compounds studies show the versatility and the attractive features of these molecules. In the same manner, has been reported the development of new compounds derivative from bezoylhidrazones, which possess the azomethine fragment (-N = CH-), key pillar for designing new drugs with biological activity. Based on the above, we are interested in to synthesize four tin compounds derivatives from benzoylhidrazones, and the evaluation of their cytotoxic capacity. Conclusions and contribution: In this research work, we reported four new tin compounds derivatives from bezoylhidrazones, which were characterized by spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques and X-ray diffraction In the same manner, cytotoxic ability of each compound was studied and reported and compared with metaled base drugs like cisplatin and carboplatin. Also, in some cases it was possible to use their luminescent ability to study their intracellular behavior.

In this work, both, solid phase microextraction (SPME) and solid phase extraction(SPE) were used to enrich organochlorine compounds in water samples and analyzed by gas chromatography with electron capture detector. The operating conditions of SPME have been studied and different kinds of solid phase were compared. Linear alkybenzene sulfonate(LAS) was added to the samples to investigate its effect on the analysis. The results indicated that polyacrylate was better than other commercial solid phases in extraction of moderated polar organic compounds and the sensitivity of SPME was higher than SPE. LAS affect much in liquid-liquid extraction and headspace SPME; but it has little effect on SPE and direct-SPME method. The applications showed that SPME was a fast and effective method in sample preparation.
