Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli toteuttaa kävelykurssi, joka pohjautuu Suomen Reumaliiton 1992 perustamaan kävelykouluun. Kurssi järjestettiin yhteistyössä Pirkkalan Virin kanssa. Tavoitteena oli selvittää kävelykurssille osallistuvien kokemuksia kävelykurssista ja saada kehittämisehdotuksia kurssin parantamiseen, jotta kävelykoulut voisivat mahdollisimman hyvin palvella kurssilaisten tavoitteita ja odotuksia. Kävelykurssin tavoitteena oli opastaa ja rohkaista kävelykurssille osallistuvia säännölliseen liikkumiseen ja aktiivisempaan elämäntapaan. Opinnäytetyön tuotteena syntyi ohjaajan ja kurssilaisten yhteiskehittelyn tuloksena uusi malli kävelykurssin rakenteesta ja sisällöstä, joka toimii ainakin tämäntyyppiselle ryhmälle. Kävelykurssin aluksi selvitettiin alkukyselyllä kurssille osallistuvien (14 henkilöä) fyysistä aktiivisuutta, terveydentilaa ja odotuksia kurssista. Kävelykurssi kokoontui kuusi kertaa peräkkäisinä viikkoina noin 1,5 tuntia kerrallaan. Kurssin aiheet olivat kävelyn tarkkailu, sauvakävelytekniikka, kävelytesti, kävelyn tehostaminen, lihaskuntoharjoittelu ja lihashuolto sekä kurssilaisten ehdottama aihe. Teoria oli liitetty käytäntöön. Keskeisistä kurssin aiheista, liikunnan vaikutuksista ja terveysliikuntasuosituksista koottiin kirjallinen materiaali jokaiselle kurssilaiselle. Kurssin lopuksi loppukyselyllä kartoitettiin kehittämiskohtia kurssin rakenteesta ja sisällöstä. Samalla kyselyllä selvitettiin kurssin aikana mahdollisesti tapahtuneita muutoksia fyysisessä aktiivisuudessa ja terveydentilassa osallistujien subjektiivisten kokemusten mukaan. Loppukyselyn mukaan osa kurssilaisista koki, että kävelytestiä käsittelevällä kokoontumiskerralla teoriaa olisi pitänyt olla enemmän ja vastaavasti käytännön harjoittelua lihaskuntoa ja- huoltoa käsittelevällä kerralla. Sauvakävelytekniikkaa ja lihashuoltoa käsitteleviä osioita pidettiin tärkeimpinä ja omia tavoitteita parhaiten palvelevina. Kurssilaiset kokivat saaneensa eniten hyötyä sauvakävelytekniikan ohjauksesta, mutta liikunnan sosiaalisilla ja psyykkisillä tekijöillä oli myös suuri merkitys. Loppukyselystä selvisi, että kurssille osallistuneiden vapaa-ajan liikunnan määrä lisääntyi tai pysyi samana alkutilanteeseen verrattuna. Kävelyä suosittiin liikuntamuodoista eniten ja lihaskuntoa kehittävien lajien harrastus lisääntyi. Fyysinen kunto verrattuna ikätovereihin koettiin alkutilanteeseen verrattuna paremmaksi. Kurssilaiset olivat koko kurssin ajan motivoituneita harrastamaan liikuntaa. Osallistumisaktiivisuus oli kiitettävää.

This paper discusses a design approach for a high-Q low-sensitivity OTA-C biquad bandpass section. An optimal relationship is established between transconductances defining the differencebeta - gamma in the Q-factor denominator, setting the Q-sensitivity to tuning voltages around unity. A 30-MHz filter was designed based on a 0.35 mum CMOS process and V-DD=3.3 V. A range of circuit simulation supports the theoretical analysis. Q-factor spans from 20.5 to 60, while ensuring filter stability along the tuning range. Although a triode-operating OTA is used, the procedure can be extended to other types of transconductor.

A CMOS audio-equalizer based on a parallel-array of 2nd-order bandpass-sections is presented and realized with triode transconductors. It has a programmable 12db-boost/cut on each of its three decade-bands, easily achieved through the linear dependence of gm on VDS. In accordance with a 0.8μm n-well double-metal fabrication process, a range of simulations supports theoretical analysis and circuit performance at different boost/cut scenarios. For VDD=3.3V, fullboosting stand-by prover consumption is 1.05mW. THD=-42.61dB@1Vpp and may be improved by balanced structures. Thermal- and I/f-noise spectral densities are 3.2μV/Hz12 and 18.2μV/Hz12@20Hz, respectively, for a dynamic range of 52.3dB@1Vpp. The equalizer effective area is 2.4mm2. The drawback of the existing transmission-zero due to the feedthrough-capacitance of a triode input-device is also addressed. The proposed topology can be extended to the design of more complex graphic-equalizers and hearing-aids.

A low-voltage, low-power OTA-C sinusoidal oscillator based on a triode-MOSFET transconductor is here discussed. The classical quadrature model is employed and the transconductor inherent nonlinear characteristic with input voltage is used as the amplitude-stabilization element. An external bias VTUNE linearly adjusts the oscillation frequency. According to a standard 0.8μm CMOS n-well process, a prototype was integrated, with an effective area of 0.28mm2. Experimental data validate the theoretical analysis. For a single 1.8V-supply and 100mV≤VTUNE≤250mV, the oscillation frequency fo ranges from 0.50MHz to 1.125MHz, with a nearly constant gain KVCO=4.16KHz/mV. Maximum output amplitude is 374mVpp @1.12MHz. THD is -41dB @321mVpp. Maximum average consumption is 355μW.

The 21st century is characterized by advancements in information and communication technology (ICT), including the Internet. Final year students of Covenant University implore the use of the Internet in writing their projects. This paper examines the extent of accessibility and use of the Internet by these students and the impact the Internet has on their projects. A questionnaire was used for data collection. A total of 150 questionaires were distributed to students from each of the three colleges in the university. The results show that all respondents used the Internet for their project work. Nearly all indicated that the Internet has an impact on their projects, especially in the areas of quality of work, speed, time economy, and recency of materials. Recommendations for improvement include provision of wireless Internet access points and training and retraining of students to acquire computer and Internet search skills.

Today, there is little knowledge on the attitude state of decommissioned intact objects in Earth orbit. Observational means have advanced in the past years, but are still limited with respect to an accurate estimate of motion vector orientations and magnitude. Especially for the preparation of Active Debris Removal (ADR) missions as planned by ESA’s Clean Space initiative or contingency scenarios for ESA spacecraft like ENVISAT, such knowledge is needed. ESA's “Debris Attitude Motion Measurements and Modelling” project (ESA Contract No. 40000112447), led by the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB), addresses this problem. The goal of the project is to achieve a good understanding of the attitude evolution and the considerable internal and external effects which occur. To characterize the attitude state of selected targets in LEO and GTO, multiple observation methods are combined. Optical observations are carried out by AIUB, Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) is performed by the Space Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (IWF) and radar measurements and signal level determination are provided by the Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques (FHR). The In-Orbit Tumbling Analysis tool (ιOTA) is a prototype software, currently in development by Hyperschall Technologie Göttingen GmbH (HTG) within the framework of the project. ιOTA will be a highly modular software tool to perform short-(days), medium-(months) and long-term (years) propagation of the orbit and attitude motion (six degrees-of-freedom) of spacecraft in Earth orbit. The simulation takes into account all relevant acting forces and torques, including aerodynamic drag, solar radiation pressure, gravitational influences of Earth, Sun and Moon, eddy current damping, impulse and momentum transfer from space debris or micro meteoroid impact, as well as the optional definition of particular spacecraft specific influences like tank sloshing, reaction wheel behaviour, magnetic torquer activity and thruster firing. The purpose of ιOTA is to provide high accuracy short-term simulations to support observers and potential ADR missions, as well as medium-and long-term simulations to study the significance of the particular internal and external influences on the attitude, especially damping factors and momentum transfer. The simulation will also enable the investigation of the altitude dependency of the particular external influences. ιOTA's post-processing modules will generate synthetic measurements for observers and for software validation. The validation of the software will be done by cross-calibration with observations and measurements acquired by the project partners.
