Estudi sobre recol·lectors OAI-PMH

A conseqüència de la creixent utilització del format digital en tots els àmbits és imprescindible replantejar-se les estratègies per gestionar la informació electrònica. Fins ara, les tasques essencials que la biblioteconomia associa amb la documentació són: l’edició, la preservació i la difusió. Aquestes tasques han estat acomplertes pel CESCA i pel CBUC en diversos dipòsits de contingut digital, cadascun especialitzat en un tipus d’informació concreta. D’altra banda, ampliant les ambicions d’aquests dipòsits i amb la voluntat de difondre contingut digital d’una manera més eficaç, ha aparegut la necessitat d’utilitzar noves eines per compartir i disseminar continguts. Aquest estudi aprofundeix en el coneixement sobre l’Open Archives Initiative (OAI), una iniciativa destinada a desenvolupar i promoure estàndards d’interoperativitat que facilitin la difusió eficient de continguts digitals. També s’inclouen les eines que permeten utilitzar el marc de treball que l’OAI proposa per gestionar l’intercanvi de dades entre els dipòsits, i com aquestes s’adapten a les necessitats i recursos existents.

La visibilidad y los recursos educativos : técnicas de recolección de metadatos mediante OAI-PMH y LOM.

Se trata de la exposición de un modelo para la creación de un modelo de web semántica de documentación y recursos educativos. Se realiza un análisis del concepto web 2.0 y de los nuevos conceptos que se usaran en el futuro Internet .

El projecte ha estat elaborat amb la col•laboració del LIGIT i del ETC LUSI. Serveix per a gestionar les Metadades i visualitzar-les a través del Web. El programari utilitzat és Geonetwork opensource, gestiona Metadades conformes als estàndards OGC i ISO. S'han implementat, a través de local o a través de connexions a servidors Web com Dav, CSW o OAI-PMH, en MckoiDB. Es visualitzen en el seu visor, a través de connexions a servidors de mapes WMS i ArcIMS i en visors externs com GoogleEarth. S'ha millorat l'aspecte gràfic i implementat amb noves funcionalitats editant el codi dels fitxers interns com Javascript, XML, XSL, Java

Interoperability issues between learning object repositories and metadata harvesters

In this paper we describe an open learning object repository on Statistics based on DSpace which contains true learning objects, that is, exercises, equations, data sets, etc. This repository is part of a large project intended to promote the use of learning object repositories as part of the learning process in virtual learning environments. This involves the creation of a new user interface that provides users with additional services such as resource rating, commenting and so. Both aspects make traditional metadata schemes such as Dublin Core to be inadequate, as there are resources with no title or author, for instance, as those fields are not used by learners to browse and search for learning resources in the repository. Therefore, exporting OAI-PMH compliant records using OAI-DC is not possible, thus limiting the visibility of the learning objects in the repository outside the institution. We propose an architecture based on ontologies and the use of extended metadata records for both storing and refactoring such descriptions.

Diseño de repositorios digitales interoperables

El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar una revisión sobre el estado de la normalización de los diferentes aspectos que hacen factible la interoperabilidad entre repositorios de objetos de aprendizaje.

Retos para la integración e intercambio de información : aprendiendo de NEEO

Aquesta presentació il·lustra com les limitacions de l'estàndard Dublin Core i OAI-PMH, són superades pels estàndards DIDL-MODS i SwUP. Recentment, 24 institucions europees líders en les àrees econòmiques i membres del consorci Nereus, han adoptat aquests estàndards per a proveir continguts i dades d'ús al portal Economist Online en el context del projecte NEEO (Network of European Economists Online).Com a soci del projecte NEEO, la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, amb la col·laboració de @mire, empresa de serveis especialitzada en el programari DSpace, ha realitzat la implementació d'aquests estàndards en el seu dipòsit E-Arxiu, proveïdor de dades de Economist Online.

HypatiaSalud. Institucional Repository for the Andalusian Public Health System, Spain

HypatiaSalud will be the freely accessible institutional repository for the Public Health System in Andalucía, Spain. Open access and new technologies have changed dramatically the environment in which research is being conducted and disseminated. Traditionally University has been the universal research provider, but at present time there are Government Organizations, as Public Health Systems, which are large-producers of research. Meanwhile most universities are running institutional repositories or have plans of setting up institutional repositories in the short-term, there are not many Government Organizations working on that direction. In this sense, HypatiaSalud represents an innovative initiative. Objectives: - Enhancing institutional efficiency, effectiveness and opportunities for knowledge exchange. -Expanding access and greater use of research findings to a much wider range of users increasing the visibility and reputation of Andalusian Public Health System. - Providing the foundation for effective gathering and long-term preservation of research output. Methodology. Phase I: Researching and learning from other institutional repositories. Phase II: Designing and planning the financial, organizational, legal and technical underlying issues. Phase III: Launching the service. Phase IV: Running the service. Outcomes. Bibliometrics: catalog of the research output of the Institution, in order to determine the conditions to include this scientific output in the Institutional Repository: direct deposit, deposit after a period of embargo, or closed access when publisher will not grant permission. Promote a mandate for the deposit of all peer-reviewed final drafts (postprints) for institutional record-keeping purposes. Access to that immediate postprint deposit in HypatiaSalud may be set immediately as ‘Open Access’ if copyright conditions allows; otherwise access can be set as ‘Closed Access’. International Standards application: HypatiaSalud will support OAI-PMH and DRIVER, to allow that central repositories could harvest its content or metadata. Development of human resources strategies in order to foster self-archiving through merit acknowledge and accreditation. Conclusions. It seems likely that setting up an Institutional Repository for the Public Health System in Andalucía would have substantial net benefits in the longer term for the Institution, despite the lag between the costs and realisation of benefits.

Interoperabilitat entre repositoris de material docent i recol·lectors de metadades

L'objectiu principal d'aquest projecte és estudiar les mancances en la interoperabilitat entre els repositoris de material docent i els recol·lectors de metadades, així com incloure una proposta d'arquitectura per superar-ho, basada en ontologies per a cada tipus de material docent o mitjançant crosswalks.
