Opinnäytetyö käsittelee syksyllä 2005 Suomen markkinoille tulleita Nike MAXSIGHT Amber aurinkosuojapiilolaseja. Aurinkosuojapiilolasien on tarkoitus helpottaa urheilusuoristusta estämällä häiritsevää auringon häikäisyä, kun aurinkolaseja on lähes mahdotonta käyttää. Opinnäytetyö on ensimmäinen Suomessa tehty tutkimus aiheesta. Tarkoituksena oli keskittyä tutkimaan, toimivatko aurinkosuojapiilolasit häikäisyn estäjänä ja onko niistä merkittävää hyötyä parantamaan urheilusuoritusta ammattilaisurheilussa. Työssä tutkittiin, miten aurinkosuojapiilolasit toimivat jalkapalloilijoille. Työ tehtiin yhteistyössä Bausch & Lombin kanssa. Teoriaosuudessa käsiteltiin erityisesti urheilunäkemistä ja keskityttiin niihin osa-alueisiin, joihin Nike MAXSIGHT Amber piilolasit saattavat vaikuttaa. Urheilunäkeminen on nouseva kiinnostuksen kohde Euroopassa optisella alalla. Tutkimuksen näkökulmana on urheilusuorituksen parantaminen tarkan ja miellyttävän näkemisen avulla. Opinnäytetyö on kvalitatiivinen käyttäjätutkimus. Tutkimusjoukkona oli kahdeksan jalkapalloilijaa, joista kuusi pelaa sarjatasolla ja kaksi divisioonassa. Ehtona oli, että jokaisella oli kokemusta piilolasien käytöstä. Tärkeänä pidettiin myös, että tutkimukseen saatiin mukaan maalivahti, joka joutuu usein torjumaan palloa vasten aurinkoa. Aurinkosuojapiilolasien toimivuutta selvitettiin erilaisilla näkötutkimuksilla, jotka tehtiin sekä kirkkailla piilolaseilla että aurinkosuojapiilolaseilla. Näin saatiin selvitettyä, miten aurinkosuojapiilolasit saattavat vaikuttaa kyseisiin näkemisen osa-alueisiin. Tutkimuksissa testattiin mm. näöntarkkuudet, kontrastinäkeminen, stereonäkö, näkökentät sekä värinäkö. Aurinkosuojapiilolasien toimivuuden selvittämiseksi käytettiin myös kyselykaavakkeita, joissa tutkittavien oli tarkoitus verrata kirkkaita piilolaseja ja Amber piilolaseja keskenään. Lisäksi jokaista tutkittavaa haastateltiin avointa haastattelumenetelmää käyttäen. Työn haasteena oli löytää oikeanlaiset näkötutkimukset, joilla saataisiin mahdollisimman monipuolista tietoa piilolasien hyödyistä ja haitoista. Tutkimuksen tulokset osoittivat tässä tutkimusjoukossa, että aurinkosuojapiilolasit estävät auringon häikäisyä, mutta pilvisellä säällä näkeminen hämärtyy. Myös värien näkeminen sekoittuu ja saattaa näin hankaloittaa eri väristen pelipaitojen erottamista toisistaan. Context. The star HD 87643, exhibiting the ""B[e] phenomenon"", has one of the most extreme infrared excesses for this object class. It harbours a large amount of both hot and cold dust, and is surrounded by an extended reflection nebula. Aims. One of our major goals was to investigate the presence of a companion in HD87643. In addition, the presence of close dusty material was tested through a combination of multi-wavelength high spatial resolution observations. Methods. We observed HD 87643 with high spatial resolution techniques, using the near-IR AMBER/VLTI interferometer with baselines ranging from 60 m to 130 m and the mid-IR MIDI/VLTI interferometer with baselines ranging from 25 m to 65 m. These observations are complemented by NACO/VLT adaptive-optics-corrected images in the K and L-bands, and ESO-2.2m optical Wide-Field Imager large-scale images in the B, V and R-bands. Results. We report the direct detection of a companion to HD 87643 by means of image synthesis using the AMBER/VLTI instrument. The presence of the companion is confirmed by the MIDI and NACO data, although with a lower confidence. The companion is separated by similar to 34 mas with a roughly north-south orientation. The period must be large (several tens of years) and hence the orbital parameters are not determined yet. Binarity with high eccentricity might be the key to interpreting the extreme characteristics of this system, namely a dusty circumstellar envelope around the primary, a compact dust nebulosity around the binary system and a complex extended nebula suggesting past violent ejections.

Devido à enorme importância que tem sido atribuída ao desporto nas últimas décadas, os marketers abraçam agora totalmente o facto de uma campanha integrada de patrocínio desportivo poder atingir um imensurável número de benefícios. Na verdade, apesar das empresas se comprometerem hoje com muitas outras áreas como a cultura, caridade e domínios humanitários, o desporto continua a ser o campo mais requisitado no que ao patrocínio se refere. Para muitas organizações o patrocínio desportivo é, de facto, o elemento-chave de uma comunicação integrada de marketing. Devido então a todo este enfase dado ao desporto, decidimos verificar se a relação de patrocínio entre a marca Nike e a Selecção Portuguesa de Futebol (SPF) influencia a atitude relativamente à marca e a intenção de compra dos seus produtos, o que constitui o objectivo desta investigação. Assim, tendo como ponto de partida a questão: exercerá a relação de patrocínio entre a Nike e a SPF alguma influência na atitude relativamente à marca e sua intenção de compra? E, por meio de uma revisão da literatura referente a este tema, desenvolvemos um modelo conceptual, o qual é baseado no criado por Martensen et al (2007) e integra quatro principais conceitos: envolvimento, atitudes, intenção de compra e congruência entre a marca e o evento. O presente estudo emprega um design exploratório envolvendo uma colecta de dados quantitativos, através da aplicação de um questionário online. De modo a confirmarmos o modelo proposto, duas técnicas estatísticas foram utilizadas: análise factorial e análise de equações estruturais (AEE). As conclusões desta investigação podem fornecer directivas para a compreensão de como uma relação de patrocínio pode criar ou melhorar a atitude relativamente a uma marca e sua intenção de compra. Como principal resultado, podemos destacar a existência de uma influência positiva da relação de patrocínio na atitude relativamente à marca.

A new species of sand fly, Pintomyia (Pifanomyia) falcaorum is described from an amber originated from the northern mountain range of Dominican Republic. The male sand fly specimen is well preserved and most features used in Phlebotominae taxonomy are seen with remarkable clarity.

Phlebotominae includes some vector species, mainly that of leishmaniases, with a very old host-parasite relationship. Some species fossils of this subfamily have been recently described and this paper presents the description of a new sand fly Pintomyia (Pifanomyia) paleotownsendi sp. nov in amber. The gonostyle present four spines, being one apical, one external superior implanted close to the apical third, one external inferior in the middle of the structure and one internal implanted in the basal third. This disposition of the spines may separate the new species from others in the sub genus.

Early Cretaceous flagellates with characters typical of trypanosomatids were found in the gut of sand fly larvae, as well as in surrounding debris, in Burmese amber. This discovery supports a hypothesis in which free-living trypanosomatids could have been acquired by sand fly larvae in their feeding environment and then carried transtadially into the adult stage. At some point in time, specific genera were introduced into vertebrates, thus establishing a dixenous life cycle.

El món de l’oci nocturn és un món que molta gent disfruta però que ningú acaba de conèixer. Tothom sap per on van els trets principals, però ningú es preocupa profundament per saber realment com funciona, quins són els costos, si els beneficis són elevats, o si és difícil aconseguir que un negoci sigui viable. Aquest, doncs, ha estat el pilar sobre del qual s'ha construït el nostre treball.A través de la creació d’una discoteca i el seu anàlisi cost-benefici hem intentat esbrinar quina és la viabilitat d’un projecte d’aquestes característiques, analitzant tots els costs que s’han d’incórrer, i realitzant un supòsit a la baixa dels ingressos que s’obtindrien.Per dur a terme aquest anàlisi hem realitzat 200 enquestes repartides per les diferents universitats de la província de Barcelona. D’aquesta manera hem pogut analitzar si hi ha demanda per una nova discoteca i quines són les preferències del consumidor.Una vegada fet aquest anàlisi, hem procedit a la recerca d'un local que s'adapti a les nostres necessitats i a les mostrades pel públic enquestat. Al no voler entretenir-nos en qüestions com la decoració del local, o l’adaptació d’aquest a tota la normativa vigent, hem partit del supòsit que un local que actualment funciona estigués disponible pel lloguer, concretament Opium Mar. Hem introduït un seguit de reformes que creiem necessàries pel millor funcionament, i a continuació hem començat amb les estratègies de màrqueting i la determinació dels serveis oferts.Dos punts seran claus per tal que la discoteca funcioni correctament. Primer de tot, el fet que sigui coneguda per un gran públic, i llavors que aquest públic en qüestió estigui content amb el serveis oferts. És per això que hem destinat un gran nombre de recursos en màrqueting (pàgina web, mailing , SMS...) i ens hem centrat també amb tots els serveis que podem oferir (guarda-roba, sales VIP...). La reputació, ens han dit molts responsables, pot ser l’eina que pot fer del teu projecte una gran font d’ingressos, o el contrari, una gran pèrdua de diners.També ens hem centrat en el personal i el subministrament de begudes, calculant així quin és el nombre de treballadors necessaris per tirar endavant el projecte, i quin és l’estoc de begudes òptim que hem de tenir per cobrir tota la demanda.Finalment, hem tingut en compte els impostos que hem d'incórrer a un projecte d'aquest tipus, ja sigui impost de societats, el cost de la llicència per exercir l'activitat, IVA, etc.Una conclusió és clara després de la realització d’aquest projecte: la nostra discoteca és rendible, i per extensió qualsevol altre amb un nombre considerable d’assistència. El valor afegit que crea un projecte d’aquestes magnituds és tan gran, i la despesa mitjana de la gent en oci nocturn tan considerable, que un projecte capaç de portar un nombre de clients relativament petit en funció del local, pot presentar beneficis

The El Soplao site is a recently-discovered Early Albian locality of the Basque-Cantabrian Basin (northern Spain) that has yielded a number of amber pieces with abundant bioinclusions. The amber-bearing deposit occurs in a non-marine to transitional marine siliciclastic unit (Las Peñosas Formation) that is interleaved within a regressive-transgressive, carbonate-dominated Lower Aptian-Upper Albian marine sequence. The Las Peñosas Formation corresponds to the regressive stage of this sequence and in its turn it splits into two smaller regressive-transgressive cycles. The coal and amber-bearing deposits occur in deltaic-estuarine environments developed during the maximum regressive episodes of these smaller regressive-transgressive cycles. The El Soplao amber shows Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy spectra similar to other Spanish Cretaceous ambers and it is characterized by the profusion of sub-aerial, stalactite-like flows. Well-preserved plant cuticles assigned to the conifer genera Frenelopsis and Mirovia are abundant in the beds associated with amber. Leaves of the ginkgoalean genera Nehvizdya and Pseudotorellia also occur occasionally. Bioinclusions mainly consist of fossil insects of the orders Blattaria, Hemiptera, Thysanoptera, Raphidioptera, Neuroptera, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera and Diptera, although some spiders and spider webs have been observed as well. Some insects belong to groups scarce in the fossil record, such as a new morphotype of the wasp Archaeromma (of the family Mymarommatidae) and the biting midge Lebanoculicoides (of the monogeneric subfamily Lebanoculicoidinae). This new amber locality constitutes a very significant finding that will contribute to improving the knowledge and comprehension of the Albian non-marine paleoarthropod fauna.

The Albian amber from Spain presently harbors the greatest number and diversity of amber adult fossil snakeflies (Raphidioptera). Within Baissopteridae, Baissoptera? cretaceoelectrasp. n., from the Peñacerrada I outcrop (Moraza, Burgos), is the first amber inclusion belonging to the family and described from western Eurasia, thus substantially expanding the paleogeographical range of the family formerly known from the Cretaceous of Brazil and eastern Asia. Within the family Mesoraphidiidae, Necroraphidia arcuatagen. et sp. n. and Amarantoraphidia ventolinagen. et sp. n. are described from the El Soplao outcrop (Rábago, Cantabria), whereas Styporaphidia? hispanicasp. n. and Alavaraphidia imperterritagen. et sp. n. are describedfrom Peñacerrada I. In addition, three morphospecies are recognized from fragmentary remains. The following combinations are restored: Yanoraphidia gaoi Ren, 1995, stat. rest., Mesoraphidia durlstonensis Jepson, Coram and Jarzembowski, 2009, stat. rest., and Mesoraphidia heteroneura Ren, 1997, stat. rest. The singularity of this rich paleodiversity could be due to the paleogeographic isolation of the Iberian territory and also the prevalence of wildfires during the Cretaceous.

The fossil crown wasp Electrostephanus petiolatus Brues comb. rev.(Stephanidae, Electrostephaninae) is re-described from a single male preserved in middle Eocene Baltic Amber. The holotype was lost or destroyed around the time of World War II and subsequent interpretations of its identity have been based solely on the brief descriptive comments provided by Brues in his original account. The new specimen matches the original description and illustration provided by Brues in every detail and we hereby consider them to be conspecific, selecting the specimen as a neotype for the purpose of stabilizing the nomenclature for this fossil species. This neotype exhibits a free first metasomal tergum and sternum, contrary to the assertion of previous workers who indicated these to be fused. Accordingly, this species does indeed belong to the genus Electrostephanus Brues rather than to Denaeostephanus Engel & Grimaldi (Stephaninae). Electrostephanus petiolatus is transferred to a new subgenus, Electrostephanodes n. subgen. , based on its elongate pseudo- petiole and slender gaster, but may eventually warrant generic status as the phylogenetic placement of these fossil lineages continues to be clarifi ed. A revised key to the Baltic amber crown wasps is provided.

Les empreses intenten obrir mercats nous constantment, aconseguint atraure nous clients objectiu i augmentar el reconeixement de la marca. Aquest treball investiga el cóm i per què el patrocini d'atletes, per a que aquests representin els productes d'una empresa, ja que és una eina cada vegada més àmplia i popular en el màrqueting mix de les empreses. Michael Jordan, un estel retirada de bàsquet, ha rebut molta atenció dels mitjans publicitaris i ha representat sota patrocini a diversos productes. Especialment el seu contracte de patrocini amb Nike, Inc. s'ha convertit en un excel·lent cas d'estudi per analitzar la tendència actual que suposa patrocinar atletes en el mercat internacional. Els resultats d'aquest cas d'estudi ajuden a entendre els factors que poden influir en èxit de les empreses quan decideixen patrocinar a un atleta com a part de la seva estratègia de màrqueting.
