En 1685, sous le règne de Louis XIV, au moment où la monarchie française voulut extirper l'altérité protestante en révoquant l'édit de Nantes (1598), trois contemporains, Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet (1627-1704), Pierre Jurieu (1637-1713) et Pierre Bayle (1647-1706) élaborèrent des utopies dans lesquelles ils nous font connaître leur vision d'une France idéale. Ces trois utopies, nous voulons les restituer au cours de ce mémoire de maîtrise et souligner quelles sont leurs propositions respectives en matière de gouvernement et de relations interreligieuses. Nous aborderons leurs positions quant aux conséquences politico-religieuses de la Révocation. Et enfin nous dirons quel est le traitement que ces trois auteurs réservent dans leurs textes à la question de la tolérance étatique.

This volume has been designated "sixième volume" in the Catalogue, for a collection known under the title of the repository, Cabinet du roi. The engravings were prepared between 1672 and 1689 by various engravers: Le Pautre, Le Clerc, Chauveau, Edelinck, Picart, Baudet, Silvestre, Simonneau and Chatillon. They were issued individually at the outset, collected, and in this instance issued in uniform format. The plates of the Labyrinthe, 15 x 8.5 cm., have been printed on 4 leaves of 9 and 1 leaf of 5.

La inagotable unión de cine y pintura encuentra un maravilloso ejemplo en el cineasta de la Nouvelle Vague francesa: Jacques Demy. Director que da al color un uso primordial en cada una de sus películas, teniendo una importancia fundamental para el desarrollo de la trama y la psicología de los personajes. Este uso simbólico y psicológico del color hace que las reflexiones de Wasili Kandinsky estén presentes en los trabajos del realizador. Y como ejemplo, su fi lm más emblemático: Los paraguas de Cherbourgo, en el que además podemos encontrar claras referencias a pintores como Matisse o Vermeer.

Jacques Ranciere's work on aesthetics has received a great deal of attention recently. Given his work has enormous range – taking in art and literature, political theory, historiography, pedagogy and worker's history – Andrew McNamara and Toni Ross (UNSW) seek to explore his wider project in this interview, while showing how it leads to his alternative insights into aesthetics. Rancière sets aside the core suppositions linking the medium to aesthetic judgment, which has informed many definitions of modernism. Rancière is emphatic in freeing aesthetic judgment from issues of medium-specificity. He argues that the idea of autonomy associated with medium-specificity – or 'truth to the medium' – was 'a very late one' in modernism, and that post-medium trends were already evident in early modernism. While not stressing a simple continuity between early modernism and contemporary art, Ranciere nonetheless emphasizes the ethical and political ramifications of maintaining an a-disciplinary stance.

The question can no longer just be whether “art and social practice” or creative forms of activism are part of larger neo liberal agenda nor if they are potentially radical in their conception, delivery or consumption. The question also becomes: what are the effects of social practice art and design for the artists, institutions, and the publics they elicit in public and private spaces; that is, how can we consider such artworks differently? I argue the dilution of social practices’ potentially radical interventions into cultural processes and their absorption into larger neo liberal agendas limits how, as Jacques Rancière might argue, they can intervene in the “distribution of the sensible.” I will use a case study example from The Center for Tactical Magic, an artist group from the San Francisco Bay Area.
