El joc del TERCETI : una unitat didàctica multimèdia sobre GNU/LINUX amb suport DVB-MHP i SCORM.

Fent ús del programari lliure s'ha generat la unitat didàctica del joc del terceti per a la televisió digital interactiva i s'ha desada en format SCORM. La facilitat d'ús del comandament a distància fa possible practicar un tipus de t-learning fonamentat en l'edutainment (education+entertaiment) i provoca que el teleespectador passiu passi a ser un "teleusuari" més actiu.

Design, implementation and testing of DVB/MHP-application development environment

Tämä diplomityö esittelee 1.6. - 4.11.2002 Mikkelin ammattikorkeakoulun YTI-tutkimuskeskuksen Informaatio- ja mediateknologian hankekokonaisuuden STRIMT-projektin puitteissa tekemäni MHP-kehitysjärjestelmähankinnan tuloksia. Digitaalitelevision MHP-sovelluskehitysjärjestelmän hankinnan tulosten lisäksi työ antaa yleiskuvan MHP-sovelluskehitystyökaluista, digitaalitelevisiostandardeista sekä digitaalitelevisioverkkojen yhteistoimintamalleista televerkkojen kanssa. Keräämieni tietojen, tekemäni tarvemäärittelyn ja suorittamani tuotevertailun perusteella valitsin tarpeisiimme sopivimmaksi järjestelmäksi Alticast Inc.-yrityksen Altifusion-tuotteen. Tuotteen valinnassa otin huomioon myös mahdolliset tulevaisuuden tarpeet aina täysimittaista lähetysjärjestelmää varten kehittämällä vaiheittaisen hankintasuunnitelman. Järjestelmää hankittaessa tärkeintä on huomioida heti alusta alkaen mahdolliset tulevat tarpeet ja varmistaa hankinnan hyödynnettävyys myös tulevaisuudessa. Järjestelmän hankinnan lisäksi vastasin sen käyttöönotosta ja järjestelmää hyödyntävän testisovelluksen laatimisesta.

Exploiting OSGi capabilities from MHP applications

In this paper we introduce a cooperative environment between the Interactive Digital TV (IDTV) and home networking with the aim of allowing the interaction between interactive TV applications and the controllers of the in-home appliances in a natural way. More specifically, our proposal consists of merging MHP (Multimedia Home Platform), one of the main standard frameworks for IDTV, with OSGi (Open Service Gateway Initiative), the most widely used open platform to set up Residential Gateways. To overcome the radically different nature of these specifications the function-oriented MHP middleware and the service-oriented OSGi framework , we define a new kind of application, coined as XbundLET. Although this software bridge is suitable to enable the interaction between MHP and OSGi applications in both directions, we concretely focus on exposing our implementation experience in only one direction: from MHP to the OSGi world.

MHP Oriented Interactive Augmented Reality System for Sports Broadcasting Environments

Television and movie images have been altered ever since it was technically possible. Nowadays embedding advertisements, or incorporating text and graphics in TV scenes, are common practice, but they can not be considered as integrated part of the scene. The introduction of new services for interactive augmented television is discussed in this paper. We analyse the main aspects related with the whole chain of augmented reality production. Interactivity is one of the most important added values of the digital television: This paper aims to break the model where all TV viewers receive the same final image. Thus, we introduce and discuss the new concept of interactive augmented television, i. e. real time composition of video and computer graphics - e.g. a real scene and freely selectable images or spatial rendered objects - edited and customized by the end user within the context of the user's set top box and TV receiver.

Identification of causal relationships among traits related to drought resistance in Stylosanthes scabra using QTL analysis

Previous studies have shown that a negative relationship exists between transpiration efficiency (TE) and carbon isotope discrimination (Delta) and between TE and specific leaf area (SLA) in Stylosanthes scabra, A glasshouse experiment was conducted to confirm these relationships in an F-2 population and to study the causal nature of these relationships through quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis, One hundred and twenty F-2 genotypes from a cross between two genotypes within S. scabra were used. Three replications for each genotype were maintained through vegetative propagation, Water stress was imposed by maintaining plants at 40% of field capacity for about 45 d. To facilitate QTL analysis, a genetic linkage map consisting of 151 RAPD markers was developed, Results from this study show that Delta was significantly and negatively correlated with TE and biomass production. Similarly, SLA showed significant negative correlation with TE and biomass production, Most of the QTL for TE and Delta were present on linkage groups 5 and 11. Similarly, QTL for SLA, transpiration and biomass productivity traits were clustered on linkage groups 13 and 24, One unlinked marker was also associated with these traits, There were several markers coincident between different traits, At all the coincident QTL, the direction of QTL effects was consistent with phenotypic data, At the coincident markers between TE and Delta, high alleles of TE were associated with low alleles of Delta. Similarly, low alleles of SLA were associated with high alleles of biomass productivity traits and transpiration. At the coincident markers between trans-4-hydroxy-N-methyl proline (MHP) and relative water content (RWC), low alleles of MHP were associated with high alleles of RWC, This study suggests the causal nature of the relationship between TE and Delta. Phenotypic data and QTL, data show that SLA was more closely associated with biomass production than with TE, This study also shows that a cause-effect relationship may exist between SLA and biomass production.

Pulmonary tuberculosis: evaluation of interferon-gamma levels as an immunological healing marker based on the response to the Bacillus Calmette-Guerin

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis whose interaction with the host may lead to a cell-mediated protective immune response. The presence of interferon-g (IFN-gamma) is related to this response. With the purpose of understanding the immunological mechanisms involved in this protection, the lymphoproliferative response, IFN-g and other cytokines like interleukin (IL-5, IL-10), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-a) were evaluated before and after the use of anti-TB drugs on 30 patients with active TB disease, 24 healthy household contacts of active TB patients, with positive purified protein derivative (PPD) skin tests (induration > 10 mm), and 34 asymptomatic individuals with negative PPD skin test results (induration < 5 mm). The positive lymphoproliferative response among peripheral blood mononuclear cells of patients showed high levels of IFN-g, TNF-a, and IL-10. No significant levels of IL-5 were detected. After treatment with rifampicina, isoniazida, and pirazinamida, only the levels of IFN-g increased significantly (p < 0.01). These results highlight the need for further evaluation of IFN-g production as a healing prognostic of patients treated.

Digitaalisen television soveltuvuus tietoyhteiskunnan tarpeisiin, case Kuopion Kaapelitelevisio Oy

Tutkielmassa selvitetään Kuopion Kaapelitelevisio Oy:n toteuttaman digitaalisen television ominaisuuksia ja niiden sopivuutta tietoyhteiskunnan vaatimuksiin. Tietoyhteiskunnassa tiedosta on tullut tärkein yritysten pääoma. Yritysten välinen toiminta on tiedon siirtämistä palvelun tuottajalta palvelun kuluttajalle. Jotta edellä mainitut asiat ovat mahdollista, tarvitaan tiedon valtatie, joka koostuu tieto-, perus-, varus-, liityntä ja siirtopalvelusta sekä palvelun tuottajista palvelimineen että käyttäjistä päätelaitteineen. Itse tieto liikkuu siirtotietä pitkin. Kuopion Kaapelitelevisio Oy:n ensimmäisen sukupolven digitaalinen televisio täyttää tiedon valtatien ominaisuudet vain varuspalveluiden osalta. Kaikki muut internetistä tutut peruspalvelut eivät ole mahdollisia. Tuleva toisen sukupolven digitaalinen televisio, jossa on mukana MHP-palvelualusta, MHP-digisovittimet ja interaktiivisuuden tuova paluukanava mahdollisuuden tehdä digitaalisesta televisiosta internetin ja mobiiliverkkojen kaltainen monipalveluverkko. Uuden toisen sukupolven digitaalisen television palveluiden tuottamisen suurin este on digisovittimien tulevat myyntiin vasta syksyllä 2003. Tällä hetkellä ainut MHP-digisovitin, Sony Wega NX100, on hinnaltaan noin 4000 €. Tutkimuksen tuloksia tullaan hyödyntämään digitaalisen television kehitystyössä Kuopion Kaapelitelevisio Oy.ssä

Risco da ocorrência de neoplasia trofoblástica gestacional após a normalização da gonadotrofina coriônica humana no seguimento pós-molar

Dissertação apresentada ao Curso de Mestrado Profissional em Saúde Materno-Infantil da Universidade Federal Fluminense, como requisito para obtenção do grau de Mestre em Saúde Materno-Infantil. Área de Concentração: Saúde da Mulher e da Criança, em 16 de maio de 2014.OBJETIVO: avaliar o risco da ocorrência de neoplasia trofoblástica gestacional (NTG) após a normalização da gonadotrofina coriônica humana (hCG) no seguimento pós-molar. PACIENTES E MÉTODOS: trata-se de estudo retrospectivo, tipo coorte não concorrente, colaborativo interinstitucional, realizado nos Centros de Referência em Doença Trofoblástica Gestacional da SCMRJ, HUAP-UFF, ME-UFRJ, HC-UNESP e HC-UFG. Foram analisados dos prontuários médicos de pacientes acompanhadas nesses Serviços, entre os anos de 2002 e 2013. Esse projeto foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa. RESULTADOS: entre as pacientes que cursaram com remissão espontânea, 10 (0,4% - 1 em cada 201 casos de MH) evoluíram com NTG após a normalização de hCG (p<0,0001; IC95% 0,2–0,7). Quando se analisa o risco de NTG após a normalização de hCG nos diferentes tipos de gravidez molar, observou-se sua ocorrência em 9/2016 (0,4% - 1 em cada 224 casos) dentre as pacientes com mola hidatiforme completa - MHC (p<0,0001; IC95% 0,2–0,7), de 1/982 (0,1% - 1 em cada 985 casos) dentre as pacientes com mola hidatiforme parcial - MHP (p<0,0001; IC95% 0,02–0,5) e em nenhuma das pacientes com gravidez molar gemelar - GMG. Consoante o tempo de normalização de hCG, a ocorrência de NTG foi observada em 1/1595 (0,06% - 1 em cada 1595 casos de MH) das pacientes cujo hCG normalizou com menos de 56 dias (p<0,0001; IC95% 0,01–0,3), enquanto que entre aquelas cujo hCG normalizou com mais de 56 dias a NTG ocorreu em 9/1416 (0,6% - 1 em cada 157 casos de MH) das pacientes (p<0,0001; IC95% 0,3–1,1), exibindo um OR de 10,19 (p=0,02; IC95% 1,29–80,58). CONCLUSÕES: o risco de NTG após a normalização de hCG é ínfimo. Parece-nos razoável que seja dada alta para a paciente com MHP após a primeira dosagem normal de hCG. Nos casos de MHC e GMG, esse seguimento deve ser mantido por 6 meses.

Mielomalácia hemorrágica progressiva em 14 cães

A mielomalácia hemorrágica progressiva (MHP) é uma afecção rara e fatal, em que ocorre necrose aguda isquêmica e progressiva do parênquima da medula espinhal, levando à liquefação da mesma. Pode ocorrer após extrusão do disco intervertebral, trauma medular ou embolismo fibrocartilaginoso. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar casos de mielomalácia hemorrágica progressiva em cães atendidos no Hospital Veterinário da Universidade Estadual de Londrina entre os anos 2000 e 2011, realizando-se a análise dos prontuários de atendimento e acompanhamento dos casos. Os animais do presente estudo atendiam a alguns critérios de inclusão, como histórico de paraplegia com sinais de neurônio motor superior, piora dos sinais progredindo para tetraplegia flácida, alterações clínicas progressivas e/ou alterações nos exames complementares. Foram analisados os aspectos epidemiológicos (raça, idade e sexo), clínicos (evolução dos sinais clínicos e neurológicos), laboratoriais (análise do líquido cefalorraquidiano), radiográficos (radiografias simples e contrastadas) e o tempo decorrido desde o início dos sinais clínicos até óbito ou eutanásia. A raça Teckel foi a mais acometida (43%), a média de idade foi de 5,04 anos e no atendimento inicial a síndrome toracolombar grau V foi a alteração mais encontrada, além de hiperpatia e progressão cranial da diminuição do reflexo cutâneo do tronco. Em sete cães a causa da MHP foi a doença do disco intervertebral toracolombar, em um cão a causa foi o trauma medular, em dois cães a MHP foi decorrente de linfoma e em quatro cães a causa provável foi doença de disco intervertebral. Alterações na análise do líquido cerebroespinhal, na mielografia e na evolução dos sinais clínicos e neurológicos foram extremamente importantes para diagnosticar a MHP. Seis animais progrediram para tetraplegia e quatro cães já apresentavam tetraplegia flácida no atendimento inicial. Em outros quatro pacientes, a identificação de sinais sugestivos de MHP antes desta progressão levou à indicação de eutanásia. Como o prognóstico é ruim e ocasiona sofrimento ao animal, o clínico deve estar atento ao histórico de paraplegia com posterior mudança da síndrome de neurônio motor superior para neurônio motor inferior, diminuição do reflexo cutâneo do tronco cranialmente e presença de respiração abdominal, sendo que algumas alterações em exames complementares encontradas neste trabalho também podem auxiliar no diagnóstico precoce da MHP, como o líquido cerebroespinhal xantocrômico com aumento de proteínas, hemácias e pleocitose. Na mielografia o edema medular e a presença de contraste no interior do tecido nervoso, frente às alterações clínicas e liquóricas, são sugestivas de MHP.

A novel hot-plate test sensitive to hyperalgesic stimuli and non-opioid analgesics

It is widely accepted that the classical constant-temperature hot-plate test is insensitive to cyclooxygenase inhibitors. In the current study, we developed a variant of the hot-plate test procedure (modified hot-plate (MHP) test) to measure inflammatory nociception in freely moving rats and mice. Following left and right hind paw stimulation with a phlogogen and vehicle, respectively, the animals were placed individually on a hot-plate surface at 51ºC and the withdrawal latency for each paw was determined simultaneously in measurements performed at 15, 60, 180, and 360 min post-challenge. Plantar stimulation of rats (250 and 500 µg/paw) and mice (125-500 µg/paw) with carrageenan led to a rapid hyperalgesic response of the ipsilateral paw that reached a plateau from 15 to 360 min after challenge. Pretreatment with indomethacin (4 mg/kg, ip) inhibited the phenomenon at all the times analyzed. Similarly, plantar stimulation of rats and mice with prostaglandin E2 (0.5 and 1 µg/paw) also resulted in rapid hyperalgesia which was first detected 15 min post-challenge. Finally, we observed that the MHP test was more sensitive than the classical Hargreaves' test, being able to detect about 4- and 10-fold lower doses of prostaglandin E2 and carrageenan, respectively. In conclusion, the MHP test is a simple and sensitive method for detecting peripheral hyperalgesia and analgesia in rats and mice. This test represents a low-cost alternative for the study of inflammatory pain in freely moving animals.

Desenvolupament, implementació i aplicació de noves metodologies per a l'estudi de la reactivitat química i de les propietats òptiques no lineals

El coneixement de la superfície d'energia potencial (PES) ha estat essencial en el món de la química teòrica per tal de discutir tant la reactivitat química com l'estructura i l'espectroscòpia molecular. En el camp de la reactivitat química es hem proposat continuar amb el desenvolupament de nova metodologia dins el marc de la teoria del funcional de la densitat conceptual. En particular aquesta tesis es centrarà en els següents punts: a) El nombre i la naturalesa dels seus punts estacionaris del PES poden sofrir canvis radicals modificant el nivell de càlcul utilitzats, de tal manera que per estar segurs de la seva naturalesa cal anar a nivells de càlcul molt elevats. La duresa és una mesura de la resistència d'un sistema químic a canviar la seva configuració electrònica, i segons el principi de màxima duresa on hi hagi un mínim o un màxim d'energia trobarem un màxim o un mínim de duresa, respectivament. A l'escollir tot un conjunt de reaccions problemàtiques des del punt de vista de presència de punts estacionaris erronis, hem observat que els perfils de duresa són més independents de la base i del mètode utilitzats, a més a més sempre presenten el perfil correcte. b) Hem desenvolupat noves expressions basades en les integracions dels kernels de duresa per tal de determinar la duresa global d'una molècula de manera més precisa que la utilitzada habitualment que està basada en el càlcul numèric de la derivada segona de l'energia respecte al número d'electrons. c) Hem estudiat la validesa del principis de màxima duresa i de mínima polaritzabiliat en les vibracions asimètriques en sistemes aromàtics. Hem trobat que per aquests sistemes alguns modes vibracionals incompleixen aquests principis i hem analitzat la relació d'aquest l'incompliment amb l'efecte de l'acoblament pseudo-Jahn-Teller. A més a més, hem postulat tot un conjunt de regles molt senzilles que ens permetien deduir si una molècula compliria o no aquests principis sense la realització de cap càlcul previ. Tota aquesta informació ha estat essencial per poder determinar exactament quines són les causes del compliment o l'incompliment del MHP i MPP. d) Finalment, hem realitzat una expansió de l'energia funcional en termes del nombre d'electrons i de les coordenades normals dintre del conjunt canònic. En la comparació d'aquesta expansió amb l'expansió de l'energia del nombre d'electrons i del potencial extern hem pogut recuperar d'una altra forma diferent tot un conjunt de relacions ja conegudes entre alguns coneguts descriptors de reactivitat del funcional de la densitat i en poden establir tot un conjunt de noves relacions i de nous descriptors. Dins del marc de les propietats moleculars es proposa generalitzar i millorar la metodologia pel càlcul de la contribució vibracional (Pvib) a les propietats òptiques no lineals (NLO). Tot i que la Pvib no s'ha tingut en compte en la majoria dels estudis teòrics publicats de les propietats NLO, recentment s'ha comprovat que la Pvib de diversos polímers orgànics amb altes propietats òptiques no lineals és fins i tot més gran que la contribució electrònica. Per tant, tenir en compte la Pvib és essencial en el disseny dels nous materials òptics no lineals utilitzats en el camp de la informàtica, les telecomunicacions i la tecnologia làser. Les principals línies d'aquesta tesis sobre aquest tema són: a) Hem calculat per primera vegada els termes d'alt ordre de Pvib de diversos polímers orgànics amb l'objectiu d'avaluar la seva importància i la convergència de les sèries de Taylor que defineixen aquestes contribucions vibracionals. b) Hem avaluat les contribucions electròniques i vibracionals per una sèrie de molècules orgàniques representatives utilitzant diferents metodologies, per tal de poder de determinar quina és la manera més senzilla per poder calcular les propietats NLO amb una precisió semiquantitativa.

Taking advantage of contextualized interactions while users watch TV

While watching TV, viewers use the remote control to turn the TV set on and off, change channel and volume, to adjust the image and audio settings, etc. Worldwide, research institutes collect information about audience measurement, which can also be used to provide personalization and recommendation services, among others. The interactive digital TV offers viewers the opportunity to interact with interactive applications associated with the broadcast program. Interactive TV infrastructure supports the capture of the user-TV interaction at fine-grained levels. In this paper we propose the capture of all the user interaction with a TV remote control-including short term and instant interactions: we argue that the corresponding captured information can be used to create content pervasively and automatically, and that this content can be used by a wide variety of services, such as audience measurement, personalization and recommendation services. The capture of fine grained data about instant and interval-based interactions also allows the underlying infrastructure to offer services at the same scale, such as annotation services and adaptative applications. We present the main modules of an infrastructure for TV-based services, along with a detailed example of a document used to record the user-remote control interaction. Our approach is evaluated by means of a proof-of-concept prototype which uses the Brazilian Digital TV System, the Ginga-NCL middleware.
