Handwritten Note about Ezekiel Woodruff

Handwritten note (1 page, single sided) stating that Ezekiel Woodruff was born in Littlefield Ct. July 29, 1763. He married Sally Hall who was born in Middleton, Ct on May 21 [the date is listed as the 23 in the Woodruff Genealogy book], 1765. She was the daughter of Capt. Giles and A. Hall. Ezekiel Woodruff died in Niagara Falls, New York on January 7, 1836 [the 6 is crossed out and a 7 penciled in]. Sally Woodruff died in Niagara Falls, New York on Nov. 26, 1835, n.d.

Congregation Beth Israel Hartford Connecticut collection, 1920-1999

Congregation Beth Israel was founded in 1843 and is Connecticut's oldest synagogue. Originally established as an Orthodox congregation, the synagogue eventually converted to Reform and was one of the founding members of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations (Union for Reform Judaism) in 1877. In the era of the digitalization of just about everything, citizenship and its related concepts are in processes of technology-driven transformation, with important implications for the global future of democratic culture. The distribution and size composition of finfish, American lobster, and long-finned squid in Long Island Sound based on the Connecticut Fisheries Division Bottom Trawl Survey, 1984–1994

The distribution, abundance, and length composition of marine finfish, lobster, and squid in Long Island Sound were examined relative to season and physical features of the Sound, using Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection trawl survey data collected from 1984 to 1994. The following are presented: seasonal distribution maps for 59 species, abundance indices for 41 species, and length frequencies for 26 species. In addition, a broader view of habitat utilization in the Sound was examined by mapping aggregated catches (total catch per tow, demersal catch per tow, and pelagic catch per tow) and by comparing species richness and mean aggregate catch/tow by analysis of variance (ANOVA) among eight habitat types defined by depth interval and bottom type. For many individual species, seasonal migration patterns and preference for particular areas within Long Island Sound were evident. The aggregate distribution maps show that overall abundance was lower in the eastern Sound than the central and western portions. Demersal and pelagic temporal abundance show opposite trends—demersals were abundant in spring and declined through summer and fall, whereas pelagic abundance was low in spring and increased into fall. The analysis of habitat types revealed significant differences for both species richness and mean catch per tow. Generally, species richness was highest in habitats within the central area of the Sound and lowest in eastern habitats. The aggregate mean catch was highest in the western and central habitats, and declined eastward. (PDF file contains 199 pages.)

Connecticut Mirror, 4 January 1813 (vol. 4, no. 27) - Newspaper

Volumes of interest were published between 1812 and 1815 with articles about the War of 1812. Issue for Jan. 4, 1813 includes (on p. 3) the annual carrier's address to the readers of the newspaper, this one having a war theme since it was published in the midst of the War of 1812. It is titled: "War and Proclamations--Addressed to the Readers of the Connecticut Mirror". Includes war-related content with some items headed: "Generosity of American Tars", "Impressment of Seamen" which is signed in type: James Monroe, "Reward Of Merit", "From Niagara" and a few other items.
