The Russell Cycle. An update and review of trends in zooplankton and fish larvae off Plymouth 1924-2009. Occasional Publication of the Marine Biological Association 24

Regular plankton sampling off Plymouth by the Marine Biological Association (MBA) has been carried out from the early 1900s. Much of the sample analysis and description of the results was carried out by Sir Frederick Russell and Professor Alan Southward (AJS), the latter having completed the organisation and transfer of the paper records to digital files. The current authors have transferred the main data files of AJS on zooplankton and fish larvae to the MBA long-term database (including various editing and checking against original analysis records and published data) together with adding the data for 2002-2009. In this report the updated time-series are reviewed in the context of earlier work, particularly with respect to the Russell Cycle. It is not intended as an exhaustive analysis. Brief details of the sampling and comments on data processing are given in an appendix.

Effects of the “all-fish” GH (growth hormone) transgene expression on resistance to Ichthyophthirius multifiliis infections in common carp, Cyprinus carpio L.

A study was undertaken on the susceptibility of the F-4 generation of "all-fish" growth hormone transgenic carp, Cyprinus carpio L, against Ichthyophthirius multifiliis infections. When 1-year old, transgenic carp, with non-transgenic carp and non-manipulated carp (controls) were split into three batches, and experimental infections were performed throughout the 3-month period. All 72 fish were successfully infected. It was shown that there was a significant difference (P<0.01) on infection level between transgenics and non-transgenics, and transgenics and controls. It possibly resulted from transgenics that had stronger non-specific immune functions. In addition, fish surface area affected significantly infection level (P<0.001). Carp with larger surface area harboured more parasites for each type of fish, but transgenic with larger surface area than non-transgenics and controls (P<0.01), loaded fewer parasites than others. Besides, the time of infection also greatly influenced (P<0.001) infection level. Results showed that there was a significant decline in parasite infectivity through October to November (P<0.001). It was likely to suggest that there existed senescence resulted in failure of any I. multifiliis isolate maintenance. Significant difference in infectivity between isolate G from grass carp and isolate H from gold fish suggested that different parasite strains may exist. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

20—50 MeV O~(5+)离子引起Au的L壳层X射线产生截面研究

在北京13 MV串列加速器上利用20—50MeVO5+离子研究Au的L壳层X射线产生截面.实验结果表明σ(Ll)/σ(Lα),σ(Lβ)/σ(Lα)和σ(Lγ)/σ(Lα)与ECPSSR理论计算结果符合比较好.在实验中由于较高的能量,在能量点存在能移现象.

氟离子碰撞引起的钽L壳层X射线产生截面测量

测量了20~55 MeV F5+离子和Ta原子碰撞中Ta产生的L壳层X射线。计算了Ta的L各支壳层产生截面的比值和总截面的比值。利用L壳层的辐射跃迁几率、Croster-Kroning跃迁几率和L亚壳层的荧光产额,将平面波波恩近似(PWBA)和ECPSSR理论计算的电离截面转换为L层X射线产生截面,并与实验结果进行比较。结果表明,σ(Ll)/σ(Lα)、σ(Lγ)/σ(Lα)和σ(Ltotal)/σ(Lα)与ECPSSR理论预测结果吻合较好,σ(Lβ)/σ(Lα)较两种理论预测值均偏小。

Permanent Genetic Resources added to Molecular Ecology Resources Database 1 May 2009-31 July 2009

This article documents the addition of 512 microsatellite marker loci and nine pairs of Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) sequencing primers to the Molecular Ecology Resources Database. Loci were developed for the following species: Alcippe morrisonia morrisonia, Bashania fangiana, Bashania fargesii, Chaetodon vagabundus, Colletes floralis, Coluber constrictor flaviventris, Coptotermes gestroi, Crotophaga major, Cyprinella lutrensis, Danaus plexippus, Fagus grandifolia, Falco tinnunculus, Fletcherimyia fletcheri, Hydrilla verticillata, Laterallus jamaicensis coturniculus, Leavenworthia alabamica, Marmosops incanus, Miichthys miiuy, Nasua nasua, Noturus exilis, Odontesthes bonariensis, Quadrula fragosa, Pinctada maxima, Pseudaletia separata, Pseudoperonospora cubensis, Podocarpus elatus, Portunus trituberculatus, Rhagoletis cerasi, Rhinella schneideri, Sarracenia alata, Skeletonema marinoi, Sminthurus viridis, Syngnathus abaster, Uroteuthis (Photololigo) chinensis, Verticillium dahliae, Wasmannia auropunctata, and Zygochlamys patagonica. These loci were cross-tested on the following species: Chaetodon baronessa, Falco columbarius, Falco eleonorae, Falco naumanni, Falco peregrinus, Falco subbuteo, Didelphis aurita, Gracilinanus microtarsus, Marmosops paulensis, Monodelphis Americana, Odontesthes hatcheri, Podocarpus grayi, Podocarpus lawrencei, Podocarpus smithii, Portunus pelagicus, Syngnathus acus, Syngnathus typhle,Uroteuthis (Photololigo) edulis, Uroteuthis (Photololigo) duvauceli and Verticillium albo-atrum. This article also documents the addition of nine sequencing primer pairs and sixteen allele specific primers or probes for Oncorhynchus mykiss and Oncorhynchus tshawytscha; these primers and assays were cross-tested in both species.

Se encontrará un análisis del caso de éxito Summerwood Corporation, el cual brindará una justificación para la propuesta final presentada a la empresa Dipsa Food, Pyme dedicada a la producción de alimentos no perecederos ubicada en la ciudad de Bogotá D.C –Colombia, la cual tiene gran interés en cuanto al desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías que brinden información fidedigna para la toma de decisiones

Análisis de sensibilidad para un modelo de medición de percepción de marca basado en simulación computacional por agentes

Se presenta el análisis de sensibilidad de un modelo de percepción de marca y ajuste de la inversión en marketing desarrollado en el Laboratorio de Simulación de la Universidad del Rosario. Este trabajo de grado consta de una introducción al tema de análisis de sensibilidad y su complementario el análisis de incertidumbre. Se pasa a mostrar ambos análisis usando un ejemplo simple de aplicación del modelo mediante la aplicación exhaustiva y rigurosa de los pasos descritos en la primera parte. Luego se hace una discusión de la problemática de medición de magnitudes que prueba ser el factor más complejo de la aplicación del modelo en el contexto práctico y finalmente se dan conclusiones sobre los resultados de los análisis.

L'Elaboració d'un muntatge audiovisual com a mètode d'innovació docent aplicat a la història contemporània

Els autors de la present proposta de comunicació formen part d'un grup d'innovació docent del Departament d'Història Contemporània de la UB que es basa en l'elaboració d'un muntatge audiovisual per part dels alumnes de grau. A partir de la creació del grup l'any 2009 s'ha estat aplicant el projecte per tal d'aconseguir diversos objectius, entre els que destaquen l'aprenentatge de l'alumne de certes competències que es consideren bàsiques, tant transversals com específiques, i es considera que en la seva major part s'han aconseguit. La comunicació vol exposar quin ha estat el mètode per aconseguir-ho i s'obre al debat per millorar-lo
